How to Descale Your ROPOT Lite

Limescale can clog up the machine and disrupt water flow. If you start experiencing slow water flow, it is time to take proper care of it. Use a commercial descaling solution or make one of these DIY solutions.

How to Descale Your ROPOT Lite

  1. Mix up the descaling solution in the water tank, then place it back onto the base.

  2. Select the 1.2L total volume and start a filtration cycle.

  3. Turn off the system midway through the cycle, and let it sit and soak for an hour.

  4. Pour out the descaling solution.
    NOTE
Repeat steps 1 through 4 if your ROPOT Lite system has a heavy buildup or if you use lemon juice or vinegar.

  5. Run three filtration cycles with tap water to rinse the system and remove the odor or taste of the descaling solution. If the sour taste remains, please repeat for a few more rounds until the water tastes clean.

FAQ

Q. Why there are droplets on a new unit after opening the package?
A. All the Bluevua RO products have been through complete Quality Control (QC)inspection before being packaged. While each filter is independently examined by air pressure for its filtration reliability, the filtration system is also inspected with sterile water to ensure the most ideal performance.
Droplets that remained may run out during the shipping. No worries, they are harmless.

Q. What is considered a typical TDS output from the ROPOT system?
A. ROPOT Lite features the reverse-osmosis technique, which typically ensures the reduction of 90-95% of TDS. There is no typical TDS output from the ROPOT Lite system since the TDS output is highly subject to different water sources and qualities across different states or regions.
Other factors like weather and temperature can also affect the TDS output. For instance, with input water that has a TDS of 300, the TDS of filtered water will have an OUT TDS of around 15-30.

Q. Is it common to see a spike in output TDS after a period of no use?
A. Yes, this is commonly referred to as TDS creep – when an RO system sits idle and there is no active pressure being applied to the unfiltered side of the membrane, the appearance of salt can creep into the treated side of the membrane and lead to a higher TDS. If this happens, you can tap the Flush button to start the 30 seconds back-flushing and discard the water from the first cycle.

Q. What is the pH of Reverse Osmosis water?
A. With chemical reaction: H2O + CO2 = H2CO3. The more pure the water is, the more CO2 it can absorb, and the more acidic it will get. The filtered water from ROPOT Lite can drop from a PH of 7 down to a PH of 6.2.

Q. Can I use the remaining water in the tank for the next filtration?
A. YES, you can continue to filter the water until the water-changing indicator flashes red. You will notice that the water level is close to the height of the partition board or slightly above the white cylinder(about 1/4 of the MAX volume). The remaining water in the water tank is NOT unused or non-filtered water but the RO reject water that holds all the containments removed from the input water.

From the principles of Reverse Osmosis, the RO system gets rid of the dissolved solids (such as dust, heavy metals, microbes, etc.) to produce pure drinking water. To ensure that the dissolved solids do not stay or creep back and contaminate the drinking water, the RO process naturally diverts poor- quality reject water to the drain. To put it short: An RO water purifier NEEDS to produce wastewater to flush the dissolved particles and serve pure, clean drinking water. And in the case of the ROPOT Lite unit, since it is a countertop system and is not connected to the drainpipe, the filtered water goes into the glass carafe while the RO reject water with contaminants goes to the water tank at the back.

The remaining water should be considered contaminated, and we highly recommend following the instruction of discarding those water each time instead of reusing them for the next cycle. Reusing the RO reject water will gradually damage the whole unit and filter.

Q. What should I do if I am going to leave the unit unused for a while?
A. The system will automatically do self-cleaning every 24 hours. However, if you are going to unplug the system for a long trip, keeping your filter inside the refrigerator and storing your unit in a cool and dry place keep the system safe from possible microbial growth. And please do not drink the first round of filtered water after you return.
