INSTRUCTION MANUAL

Thank you for purchasing the efficient PureMate PM 210UV ionic air purifier. We wish you many years of healthy indoor air with this innovative product.

SAFETY OPERATION

Ensure that all safety precautions are followed when using electrical appliances for the proper operation of the device.
This instruction booklet describes the safety precautions to be observed during operation to prevent injuries to yourself, other persons and damage to the device. The content not only is suitable for this product but also suitable for electrical appliances in general.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Read all instructions before using appliance.
  • IMPORTANT – This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  • To avoid fire or shock hazard, plug the appliance directly into a right AC electrical outlet.
  • Keep the cord out of heavy traffic areas. To avoid fire hazard, NEVER put the cord under rugs, near heat registers, radiator, stoves or heaters.
  • To protect against electrical hazards, DO NOT immerse in water or other liquids. Do not use near water.
  • Children cannot recognize the hazards associated with the usage of electrical appliances. For this reason, always supervise children when they are near the unit.
  • Always unplug the air purifier before moving it, opening the grill, changing filters, cleaning or whenever the air purifier is not in use. Be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.
  • NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
  • DO NOT run cord under carpeting.
  • DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings.
  • DO NOT route cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  • DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, if motor fan fails to rotate, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Send to Customer Service for assistance.
  • Use appliance only for intended household use as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  • DO NOT use outdoors.
  • DO NOT place anything on top of unit.
  • NEVER block the air openings, grills/outlets or place on a soft surface such as a bed or sofa, as this could cause the unit to tip over, blocking the air intake or outtake opening.
  • DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by qualified personnel only

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Negative Ionization. Negative ions magnetically attracts floating particles, causing them to become too heavy to remain airborne. As a result, they settle out of the air, so that they can no longer be inhaled. The negative ions also cause particles to magnetically attract to the collector plates just inside the PM 210UV. The unit uses 25 stainless steel, electrodes to produce a high density of negative ions (60,000,000 per cm³).
  2. Electrostatic Precipitation. The electrostatic charge created between the negatively charged ionizer pins and the positively charged dust collection plates causing undesirable particles and pollutants to become magnetically trapped on the plates.
  3. Germicidal UV Light. UV (ultraviolet light) is scientifically-proven to destroy a large variety of microbial contaminates, such as viruses, germs, bacteria and fungi (including mould). Ultraviolet light has been used for years by the medical field (including hospitals) to sanitize rooms and equipment, in order to prevent the spread of illness and disease. It is recommended by Centres for Disease Control for its ability to destroy biological pollutants.

PLACEMENT

Where to put the PM 210UV

  • Elevated Location. Optimal elevation is 5 feet (1.5 meter) or more off the ground, although it is not absolutely necessary to place the unit high off the ground.
  • Air Flow. If you can place the unit near a source of air flow for the room or area, such as by a fan or supply vent, the negative ions will be distributed more effectively.
  • Open Area. Place the unit where it’s output will achieve more effective distribution.
  • Centralized Location. The more this air ionizer is centrally located, the more area it can cover. Placing it in a corner or against a wall will typically suffice for most rooms though.
  • Near Source of Pollution. The closer the unit is placed to a source of pollution, the more effective it will be.

NOTE: For people with respiratory problems.

  • Individuals affected by respiratory problems such as asthma or allergies are the ones who most need the pure and fresh air provided by the PureMate ionizers. We therefore suggest putting the PM 210UV in the room where these individuals would spend most of their time.
  • For individuals who have chronic respiratory problems, we recommend that the PM 210UV be set at low at night time, if the ionizer is in the bedroom, since respiratory activities differ in sleep.
  • Since the unit produces moderate levels of Active Oxygen (Ozone), it is not recommended to breathe too closely in front of the grill. Maintain a distance of at least 19” (48 cm) from the unit.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Insert the end (hollow plug) of the cable of the AC/DC adapter into the DC socket (Marked as DC12V) on the back of the air purifier (The DC adapter is for vehicle use only).
  • Insert the adapter in the electric socket or the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket.
  • Press the power switch, which will activate the unit and the red LED light.
  • The fan is independently controlled. The switch on the side of the PM 210UV turns the fan “ON” for increased effectiveness, or “OFF” for virtually silent operation.

Settings:

Power:

  • “Hi” – runs at full capacity.
  • “Lo” – Automatically runs in intervals of 35 seconds “on” and 60 seconds “off”.
  • “Off”.

Fan:

  1. “Off” – turns fan off, resulting in virtually silent, ionic air purification.
  2. “On” – increases air flow through unit, increasing effectiveness.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Please ensure unit is turned off and unplugged before performing any cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning the Dust Collection Plates:

  • The dust collection plates should be cleaned about every 20-30 days, or when covered with dirt and residue. Cleaning the dust collection plates is very simple.
  • Twist the knob on the right hand side of the air purifier and pull the plates out.
  • Wipe the plates off with a damp cloth. If there is difficult-to-remove residue on the plate, you should use a mild household cleaner, such as detergent, to help remove it.
  • Dry the plates.
  • Reinsert the plates back into the air purifier. Twist the handle to lock them in place and so that the unit will operate again. Please refer to the lock and unlock symbols on the handle of dust collection plate.

Cleaning

Note: When removing the collector plates for periodic cleaning, please note that it must be returned to the unit in exactly the same position for a flush fit. Reversing the position will result in an incomplete closure and the unit will not function properly.
