The 3-in-1 Ear, Forehead + Touchless Thermometer has a color-coded screen and optional sound alarm to alert you when fevers spike. Seamlessly move from in- ear temp checks when baby’sawake, to stealth forehead temp checks while baby’s sleeping. In addition to tiny humans, this thermometer works on adults, and even reads surface temperatures in touchless mode — like the bottle you’re about to feed your feisty freeloader.

Warning:

• Keep out of reach of children under 12 years.
• Never immerse the thermometer into water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning and disinfecting, please follow the instructions in the “Care and Cleaning” section.
• Never use the thermometer for purposes other than those it has been intended for. Please follow general safety precautions when using on children.
• Keep the thermometer away from direct exposure to the sun and keep it in a dust-free, dry, well-ventilated place at a temperature between 50°F (10°C) – 104°F (40°C). Do not use the thermometer in high humidity environments. (>95% RH)
• Do not use the thermometer if there are signs of damage on the measuring sensor or on the instrument itself. If damaged, do not attempt to repair the instrument! Please contact FridaBaby.
• This thermometer consists of high-quality precision parts. Do not drop the instrument. Protect it from severe impact and shock. Do not twist the instrument or the measuring sensor.
• Please consult your doctor if you see symptoms such as unexplained irritability, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, changes in appetite or activity, seizure, muscle pain, shivering, stiff neck, pain when urinating, etc., even in the absence of fever.
• Even in the absence of fever, those who exhibit a normal temperature may still need to receive medical attention.
• People who are on antibiotics, analgesics, or antipyretics should not be assessed solely on temperature readings to determine the severity of their illness.
• Temperature elevation may signal a serious illness, especially in adults who are old, frail, have a weakened immune system, or neonates and infants. Please seek professional advice immediately when there is a temperature elevation and f you are taking the temperature of anyone who is:
  • Over 60 years of age (Fever may be blunted or even absent in elderly patients)
  • Has diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system (e.g., HIV positive, cancer, chemotherapy, chronic steroid treatment, splenectomy)
  • Bedridden (e.g., nursing home patient, stroke, chronic illness)
  • A transplant patient (e.g., liver, heart, lung, kidney)
• This thermometer is not intended for preterm babies or small-for-gestational age babies. This thermometer is not intended to interpret hypothermic temperatures. Do not allow children to take their temperatures unattended.
• Clean the thermometer probe after each use.

Directions

FOREHEAD READER OFF:
Thermometer automatically switches to Ear Mode.

FOREHEAD READER ON:
Thermometer defaults to selection mode.

1. Press the big Power/Measure button for 1 second to turn the thermometer on. The LCD screen will show the last measurement taken.
2. Select your “mode” by following the directions for ear, forehead or touchless use in the tables below.
3. Press and release the Power/Measure button for 1 second again.
4. Once the beep is heard, you can read the value. “T” indicates a temperature reading.
5. The device automatically shuts off after being unused for 10 seconds.

FOR EAR USE:

1. Remove the forehead reader, automatically selecting Ear mode

2. Fit the probe snuggly into the ear canal.
   WARNING:

   • Make sure that the ear is clean, with no earwax or obstructions.
   • The right ear reading may differ from the reading taken at the left ear. Always take the temperature in the same ear.
   • Do not force the thermometer into the ear canal or the ear canal may get injured.
   • Be careful when taking the temperature on a child, whose ear canal is small.
   • Do not insert past the point where you feel resistance.

NOTE: Children under 1 year: Pull the ear straight back. Children over 1 to adults: Pull the ear up and back. Make sure the ear canal is straight, so that the temperature probe can receive an infrared ray from the eardrum.

FOR FOREHEAD USE:

1. With the forehead reader on, press the Mode/ Memory button to choose “Adult forehead mode” or Child forehead mode .

2. Touch the forehead reader to the center of the forehead.
   WARNING:

   • If the forehead area is covered with hair, sweat, or dirt, please clean the area beforehand to improve the reading accuracy.
   • Always check if the lens is clean.
   • Always make sure the user and the thermometer have been in the same room for at least 30 minutes prior to the measurement.

NOTE: The forehead measurement is an indicative reading. The measured forehead temperature can fluctuate up to 1°F/0.5°C from your actual body temperature. Please be aware of the factors that influence the accuracy as described in the “**Normal body temperature / Fever indicator” and “Warning” sections.

FOR TOUCHLESS USE:

Note: This mode is ONLY for measuring the temperature of the room or an object. Not for body temp checks.

1. Press the Mode/ Memory button to choose the house icon .
2. Hold the thermometer about 1-3 cm (0.39-1.18 inches) away from the object.

TEMPERATURE READING:

Forehead or Ear:

Normal temperature: 89.6°F – 99.5°F (32°C – 37.5°C)
Indicator: Green light, one long beep
Low fever: 99.7°F -100.4°F (37.6°C – 38.0°C)
Indicator: Orange light, 3 short double-beeps.
High fever: 100.6°F – 109.2°F (38.1°C – 42.9°C)
Indicator: Red light, 3 short double-beeps.

Touchless – Room/Object:

32.0°F – 199.0°F (0°C – 100°C)
Indicator: White light, one long beep

It is recommended that 3-5 measurements in the same location be taken and the highest one taken as the reading in the following situations:

• Newborn infants in the first 100 days.
• Children under three years of age with a compromised immune system and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical.
• When the user is learning how to use the thermometer for the first time until they have familiarized themselves with the instrument and obtained consistent readings.

Switch between Mute and Un-Mute: With the thermometer on, press the Measure/Mute-unmute button for 5 seconds.

F˚/ C˚ conversion: To change from Fahrenheit (F°) to Celsius (C°), Open the battery cover. Use the toggle switch to change the °F/°C.

Memory mode: Press the Mode/ Memory button for 5 seconds to go to the memory mode. Press this button again to check the 40 stored readings one by one. If no value has been saved, it will display “—”.

NOTE: All stored readings are reset when the batteries are replaced.

Call your child’s doctor right away if your child has a fever and:

• Is younger than 3 months (12 weeks) and has a temperature of 100.4°F (38.0°C) or higher.
• If, at any age, the fever rises above 104°F (40°C) repeatedly.

Battery Insertion and Replacement

First time use: 1) Pull battery door off and open battery chamber. 2) Insert two AAA batteries. 3) Slide battery chamber back into place and reattach battery door.

Replacement: 1) Replace battery when appears in the lower right corner of LCD display. 2) Remove the old batteries following the above instructions. Discard batteries lawfully. 3) Replace with two new AAA batteries. Remove the batteries if the thermometer will not be used for more than two months.

Care and Cleaning

Use an alcohol swab or cotton swab moistened with 70% alcohol to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring probe. After the alcohol has completely dried out, you can take a new measurement. Ensure that no liquid enters the interior of the thermometer. Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning and never immerse the instrument in water or other cleaning liquids. Take care not to scratch the surface of the LCD screen.

Troubleshooting / Error Codes

Performance may be degraded should one or more of the following occur:

• Operation outside stated temperature and humidity range
• Storage outside state temperature and humidity range
• Mechanical shock
• Patient temperature is below ambient temperature

Do not dispose of used batteries in the trash. Consult your local recycling center for the proper way to dispose of batteries in your area. Keep used batteries away from children, pets and excessive heat.

• The lens of the probe is dirty.
• The distance of the item and target is too far.
• You have just come from a cold environment.

• Clean the lens with a cotton swab.
• Keep in contact with forehead or put probe into the ear canal.
• Stay in warm room for at least 30 min before taking a reading.

Reading is too high| You have just come from a hot environment.| Stay in an adequately cool room for at least 30 minutes before taking a reading.

Normal Body Temperature / Fever Indicator

Body temperature can vary from 97°F and 100.0°F and still be considered normal. The medically accepted “normal” body temperature is 98.6°F. Body temperature is commonly lower upon waking than at any point during the rest of an individual’s waking hours.

Temperature readings will vary based on the body location point of the reading. Oral temperature readings between 97°F (36.1°C) and 100°F (37.7°C) are considered normal. A rectal temperature reading is generally 1°F (0.5°C) higher; while an underarm, or axillary,  temperature will be 1°F (0.5°C) lower.

A fever is defined as a body temperature that is elevated above the normal for that person. It is important to determine what is normal for an individual before determining if a fever is present. Tracking an individual’s temperature on a consistent basis, at the same body site and at the same time every day when the person is well or healthy will help determine an individual’s normal temperature.
