TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM | POSSIBLE CAUSE | RESOLUTION |
---|
Sprayer Leaks
| Loose connections: Typically leaks occur when the connectors are not screwed on tightly. Check all the connections to ensure that they are screwed on tight.
(If this is not the reason, continue the diagnosis by checking the other options below)
| Tighten the loose connections by screwing them tightly.
Missing or compromised washers: The washers preventing leaks at the
connections may be dry, cracked, or missing causing the leaks. Unscrew the
connection and inspect the state of the washers inside.| Replace worn-out,
cracked, or missing washers using the spare ones provided with the package.
Sprayer not spraying
(or) Spraying weakly
| Blocked Nozzle: If any solid matter enters the pump system (sand or
dirt, for example), it can build up at certain points and cause a reduction or
complete loss in spraying pressure. If the sprayer is not spraying, check the
nozzle tip for any clogs or blockages.| If your nozzle is clogged, remove it
from the trigger try to clean it out, and remove any solids in the lines that
may be causing the block. If the nozzle tip is damaged or clogged to the point
where it cannot be cleaned, it should be replaced altogether.
Check Pump: Remove the pump and place the bottom of the pump against the
flat palm, wearing rubber gloves, especially if a chemical is present. Pumping
the pump should result in pressure being felt coming out of the black
nonreturn valve of the pump. If no pressure is felt, then the sprayer isn’t
getting pressure.| Check, lubricate, and replace faulty/missing/dry plunger O
ring or leaking nonreturn valve.
PROBLEM| POSSIBLE CAUSE| RESOLUTION
---|---|---
| Check connections: The sprayer will lose pressure if the connections
are not secured or if the washers are dry, cracked, or missing. Check the
connection points have good washers and they are secure in place.| Check and
replace ineffective washers using the spares provided with the package. Make
sure that the connections are screwed tightly in place after replacing the
washers.
Sprayer does not stop when Trigger is released
| Grit/Dirt in the ON/OFF control: This could be caused by Dirt or Grit in the trigger mechanism preventing the full release of the trigger. Check the trigger to see if there is dirt/grit lodged under it.| Gently lift the trigger and clean thoroughly using cloth or water as appropriate. This should restore the full function of the trigger.
Sprayer does not stop when Trigger is released
| Air in Lance: Sometimes, air gets trapped in the lance, causing the liquid to continue to dribble even after the trigger is released.| To remove any air, hold the lance in a vertical position pointing away from you, toggle the trigger ON and OFF until the air is discharged, then continue spraying.
Washers need frequent changing
|
Sprayer left with residual pressure
| After each use, use the pressure release valve to vent any residual pressure before storing.
Chemicals in the sprayer
| After using a sprayer to spray chemicals, clear the chemical from the sprayer, fill with water, and spray to get rid of the chemicals such as weed killers. Not only will this mean you keep your sprayer in working order but will reduce the risk of forgetting the product you were using last time and potentially putting a weed killer onto a plant you do not want to kill!
Sprayer left in the sun
| The sun dries out the washers causing it to crack and/or compromise their
performance.
