Installing the load carriers
Kit contents
Positioning the load carriers
Open the doors.
-
Locate the mounting points for the load carriers in the door frames. The mounting points consist of a rivet nut that are countersunk into the door frames.
IMPORTANT
To avoid paintwork damage:
Thoroughly clean the rivet nuts and the roof where the clamps and feet for the load carriers will make contact with the paintwork. -
Loosen the cover on the load carriers by turning the locking key 90° anticlockwise, and then carefully loosen the cover.
-
Remove the cover. To install the correct carrier in the correct place, refer to the marking on the mounting clamp which is located under the cover.
The mounting clamps are marked:
LF = left front
RF = right front
LR = left rear
RR = right rear -
Undo the bolts slightly on both sides of the load carrier’s clamp bracket.
-
Pull the clamp bracket out and fold it up.
-
Position one of the load carrier’s feet (1) at the edge of the roof, so that the pin (2) on the clamp are in line with the rivet nut (3) in the door frame.
-
Carefully lower the other load carrier foot to the edge of the roof on the other side.
-
Check that the contour of the load carrier’s foot is placed in full contact with the roof edge. It has to match the curvature of the top side of the roof.
IMPORTANT
Be careful not to damage the car’s paintwork.
NOTE
Make sure that the load carrier’s foot is properly positioned to match the
curvature of the roof edge. If it isn’t in full contact with the top side of
the roof, then it’s possible to undo the bolts on the lower side of the load
carrier. You can then adjust the foot several millimetres to fit along the
contour.Make sure that the pin is
located in the rivet nut.
When you tighten a bolt on the clamp bracket, tighten the corresponding bolt
on the other side.
Tightening torque is 5 Nm.![VOLVO V60 Load Carrier for Cars without Rails

Safety instructions
NOTE
The maximum permitted roof load and total weight for the car must not be
exceeded (see the owner’s manual for the car). The maximum roof load should be
calculated as the combined unladen weight of the load carrier, accessories and
the load.
NOTE
Distribute the load evenly over the loading surface, with as low a centre of
gravity as possible, and secure it so that it cannot come loose.
NOTE
Regularly check that the load is secure. Test drive a short distance so that
you can check that bolted joints and brackets are secured. If necessary re-
tighten to the prescribed torque. Check at regular intervals.
NOTE
The car’s driving characteristics and crosswind sensitivity are changed by a
load on the roof. Adjust speed according to vehicle load (max. 130 km/h / 80
mph). Always follow applicable speed limits and other traffic laws.
NOTE
For the safety of other road users and to save energy, remove the load
carriers when not in use.
