Q-TRAN Shield Engineered to Protect LED Strips

Q-TRAN-Shield-Engineered-to-Protect-LED-Strips-PRODUCT

Product Information

The product is a shield that is designed to be installed with LED strips for various applications. It comes in two versions: SHLD-A for standalone use and SHLD-B for use within extrusions. The shield is made of PVC and includes a silicone sleeve LED strip (sold separately) that can be attached using 3M adhesive. The shield is available in different profiles, including .29 .63 Profile – S, .29 .71 Profile – M, .29 .79 Profile – L, .20 .47 Profile – S, .20 .55 Profile – M, and .20 .63 Profile – L. The installation instructions provide information on the methods of installation, recommended materials for different surfaces, and temperature and environmental concerns.

Product Usage Instructions

Installation Method: SHLD-A (Standalone Use)

  1. Read all instructions before installation.
  2. Choose the appropriate epoxy based on the surface material:
    • Concrete, Stone, Cinderblock, Metal, and Brick: Loctite Metal and Concrete Two-Part Epoxy.
    • ABS, Fiberglass, Plastic, and PVC: Loctite Plastic Two-Part Epoxy.
    • Tile, Wood, Ceramic, Glass, or Metal: Loctite Clear Two-Part Epoxy.
  3. If the surface is porous (e.g., Wood, Brick, Concrete), apply two layers of paint or primer to create a better bonding surface.
  4. Clean the surface using a 50/50 alcohol mix.
  5. Measure the PVC carrier and cut it to the desired length.
  6. Remove the adhesive backing on the carrier and mount it to the surface.
  7. Mount the LED strip within the guideline on the PVC carrier and apply pressure. Start and end the LED 3/8 inch from the end of the carrier.
  8. Install the shield lens, starting at the input feed wire end. Remove the adhesive backing and provide pressure as you mount it down the length of the carrier.
  9. Cut the shield to the desired length, leaving a 3/8 inch dead space at each end.

Installation Method: SHLD-B (Use within Extrusions)

  1. Read all instructions before installation.
  2. Clean the surface area of the extrusion and tray using a 50/50 alcohol mix and allow it to dry for 5 minutes.
  3. Refer to the extrusion installation instructions for cutting it to the desired length.
  4. Peel back 0.5 of the VHB tape’s protective film on one end of the LED strip and use firm pressure to adhere it to the extrusion, avoiding air bubbles. Continue peeling the film and adhering the strip in small sections until the entire length is installed.
  5. Peel back 0.5 of the VHB tape’s protective film on both ends of the shield lens and use firm pressure to adhere it to the extrusion along the sides of the LED strip, avoiding air bubbles. Continue peeling the film and adhering the shield lens in small sections until the entire length is installed.
  6. Refer to the applicable extrusion product page at q-tran.com for further instructions on installing extrusion components.
