CommScope 760255082 Single Fiber Splice Cassette

CommScope-760255082-Single-Fiber-Splice-Cassette-
PRODUCT

Product Information

  • The product is a Port Single Fiber Splice Cassette for the Propel Panel.
  • It is designed to securely splice and protect single fiber cables in a network installation.
  • The cassette comes with splice protectors and cable ties for easy installation and maintenance.
  • The cassette cover is removable for access to the fibers.
  • The product is manufactured by CommScope.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare the cable for installation by grouping the feeder fibers into two groups (1-12 and 13-24) and referring to Table 1 for recommended lengths.
  2. Remove the cassette cover by lifting the rear tab and pulling it backward.
  3. To place the feeder fiber in the cassette, strip the fibers to the recommended length, leaving approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the strength member. Secure the cable tie around the strength member and optionally wrap smaller diameter cables with the provided grey foam. Snip off the ends of the cable ties and push the head downward until it is below the top of the cassette wall.
  4. Measure and trim the pigtail and feeder fibers to the specified cut length per Table 1.
  5. Install splice protectors on all fibers to be spliced, ensuring a maximum length of 45mm.
  6. Strip, clean, and splice the feeder and pigtail fibers following the recommended method.
  7. Load the splice protectors into the splice holder, routing the pigtail fibers counterclockwise until they converge with the feeder fibers.
  8. Route the fibers into the base of the cassette according to the specified order (a, b, c, e, f, d).
  9. Apply the cover by lining it with the slots near the front of the cassette base. Lay the cover flat on the base and ensure all the tabs on the side of the cover and base are lined up. Push the cover forward to engage the tabs and double-check that the rear tab is also engaged.

Prepare cable for single fiber splice cassette installation

  • Group feeder fibers into two groups (1-12 and 13-24), then refer to Table 1 for Feeder and Pigtail Lengths. “Feeder Strip Length” is the recommended length of fiber to bring into the cassette.
  • “Feeder Cut Length” and “Pigtail Cut Length” is measured from the front of the cassette and is the recommended cut length for the initial splice. A maximum of (1) rework is allowed per splice.

  • Using your thumb & finger, disengage the rear tab by lifting and pulling backward to remove the cover.

Prepare to place feeder fiber in cassette

  1. Remove spool and splice holder from cassette. Locate ends of pigtail marked with tape.
  2. Unspool and extend pigtail fiber beyond front of cassette.

Install feeder fiber in splice cassette

  1. Strip fibers to the recommended Feeder Strip length per Table 1. Leave approximately 1” (2.5 cm) of strength member. Secure cable tie around a fiber strength member.
  2. Optional: Wrap smaller diameter cable with provided grey foam for better securement.
  3. Snip off the ends of cable ties close to the head.
  4. Push the head downward until it is below the top of the cassette wall.
  5. If using a 24f cable, separate fibers 1-12 and 13-24. Then use one tie-off location at the cassette entry point.)

Measure and trim pigtail and feeder

  • Extend feeder fibers beyond the front of the cassette base, then measure and trim pigtail and feeder to specified cut length per Table 1.

Install splice protectors on all fibers to be spliced

  • Use provided splice protectors. Splice protector length should be 45mm maximum.

Splice feeder and pigtail  fibers

  • Strip, clean, and splice fibers following recommened method.

Preparing to load splice protectors

  • Locate “P” and “F” marking on spool. When loading splice protectors, ensure pigtail is exiting spool through the side with “P” marking and the feeder is exiting through the side with “F” marking.

Load splice protectors into splice holder

  1. Load splice protectors into splice holder
  2. Utilizing the spool fiber retainers, route pigtail fibers counterclockwise until feeder and pigtail fibers converges.

Route fibers into base

  1. Position spools to prepare for routing.
  2. Route pigtail and feeder fibers corresponding to fibers 1-12 counterclockwise starting along the outer half of the cassette and work inwards with each consecutive loop.
  3. Line up the pegs on the cassette base with the mounting holes on the spool to finish routing.
  4. Insert spool into base and ensure all fibers are under retaining fingers.
  5. Position spool of fiber 13-24 as shown to prepare for routing. Ensure fibers are tucked under retaining feature
  6. Repeat steps a-d until routing is completed.

Apply Cover

  1. Line the cover with the slots near the front of the cassette base.
  2. Lay the cover flat on the base and ensure all the tabs on the side of the cover and bases are lined up. With one hand holding the cassette base, push cover forward with other hand to engage tabs. Double check the rear tab is also engaged to prevent the cover from sliding off.
