Product Usage Instructions

The FOSC450-D6-4-72-1-T3V dome closure is designed for splicing feeder and distribution cables. It features a single-ended, O-ring sealed design with a dome-to-base clamp for easy access to the splicing trays. The closure is compatible with a wide range of cable types including loose tube, central core, and ribbon fiber.

Here are the recommended steps for using the FOSC450-D6-4-72-1-T3V dome closure:

  1. Select the appropriate mounting location for the closure, considering aerial, pedestal, or underground environments (up to 5 meters).
  2. Ensure compatibility with CommScope’s CWDM modules and optical splitter trays if required.
  3. Prepare the cables for splicing and ensure they are compatible with the closure.
  4. Open the closure by releasing the dome-to-base clamp.
  5. Add or remove the cables as needed, taking advantage of the gel cable sealing technology.
  6. Place the cables into the appropriate cable ports and ensure they are securely sealed.
  7. Access the splice trays by hinging them open without disturbing other trays.
  8. Perform the splicing of the fibers according to the supported splicing types (mass fusion or single fusion).
  9. Close the closure by securing the dome-to-base clamp.
  10. Verify the spliced fibers using a flash test valve at 5 psi (40 kPa) if required.
  11. Ground the closure if needed using the pre-installed ground feed-through.
  12. Securely mount the closure in the desired network area (pole, strand, or wall).
  13. Store any excess fiber in the included fiber storage basket.
