Thank you for buying this induction hotplate. Before you use the product, please read the user manual thoroughly. Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference.

MATERIALS RECYCLING

Your local authority can supply current information on the options for disposing of worn-out units and packaging materials.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Follow all the safety instructions below. They help to ensure safety. They also avoid damage to the unit and any risk of injury.
Damage and/or injury may result if the safety instructions are not followed.
This unit is not designed for use in the following conditions:

  • Never heat: food in sealed containers (e.g. cans); compressed products; coffee pots and similar. Thermal expansion could result in an explosion.
  • Do not rinse the induction hotplate directly under water. Avoid spilling water, soup, etc. into the internal parts of the induction hotplate.
  • Do not heat empty pots/pans.
  • When in use, do not leave the product unsupervised for any lengthy period of time. If you do leave the product unsupervised for a short time, ensure that the pot/pan has enough water, etc. in it.
  • Do not heat iron objects on the hotplate’s heating surface. Temperatures can become high and there is a risk of damage/injury.
  • Utensils designed for cooking on an induction hotplate must be used exclusively for this purpose.
  • This product is designed for household use.
  • Never leave the unit running without a pot/pan (with food and liquid) on the hotplate. Failure to do this can damage the product.
  • Children must not play with the product.
  • The instructions shall state that appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • When the product is not to be used for a long time, pull the plug out of the power outlet.
  • When using the induction cooker do not place it on any metal platform.
  • Do not place paper, aluminium foil, fabrics or other unsuitable objects on the hotplate’s induction heating surface.
  • If the product is damaged, stop using it. Take it to a service point, or the retailer, and get it replaced.
  • When using the induction hotplate, place it on a flat, stable surface with at least 10 cm free space between all its sides and any walls. Do not use the induction hotplate in confined spaces. So that excess heat can dissipate, keep the ventilation openings free from obstructions.
  • If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced.
  • Use a dedicated, high quality power outlet that has a minimum 10 A rating (fuse protection). Do not use the product connected to outlets shared by high power appliances such as air conditioners, electric cookers, etc. This can overload the power outlet.
  • Do not touch the heating surface with sharp implements. This can cause cracks or other damage. If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock.
  • Metal objects such as knives, forks, spoons and lids must not be placed on the heating surface – they can become hot.
  • Do not use the induction hotplate near objects at high temperatures (e.g. gas cookers or grills).
  • To avoid overheating, ensure that the unit’s ventilation openings are kept free from obstructions.
  • The heating surface retains heat for a while throughout use of the unit (e.g. after removing a pot/pan). Do not touch the heating surface.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

BEFORE USING A NEW INDUCTION HOTPLATE

  • Read this user manual thoroughly!
  • Remove any protective film that may still be on the ceramic plate.

USING THE PRODUCT’S TOUCH CONTROLS

  • The controls respond to a light touch – you do not need to press hard.
  • Use the ball of your finger, not the tip.
  • here is a beep each time a control reacts to your touch.
  • Ensure that the controls are clean and dry at all times and that there is nothing covering them. A thin film of water may make it more difficult to operate the controls. ELVITA CIP2121S Induction Hotplate Hob fig 4

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

PUTTING A POT/PAN ON THE CERAMIC PLATE

  • Ensure that the ventilation openings are free from obstructions. Keep cooking implements away from the immediate vicinity of the ceramic plate.
  • Ensure that the pot/pan has food and/or liquid in it. Place it in the centre of the ceramic plate.

PLUGGING INTO A POWER OUTLET

  • There is an audible signal when the power supply is connected. An “L” appears on the display. This means that the induction hotplate is in stand-by mode.

TURNING THE INDUCTION HOTPLATE ON

  • Press the “ON/STAND-BY” control. The induction hotplate is now ready for use. To put the induction hotplate into heating mode, press the “Function” control.
  • If you press the “ON/STAND-BY” control and then do not press any other control within 10 seconds, the induction hotplate switches off automatically.
  • If you press the “Function” control and the correct sort of pot/pan is not on the ceramic plate, the hotplate does not heat up and there is an audible signal to remind you to put a pot/pan on the hotplate. If you do not do this, the induction hotplate switches off automatically after one minute.

USING THE FUNCTION CONTROL

  • When you have turned the induction hotplate on, press the “Function” control to set the temperature or power level.
    To adjust the power level, press the “+” or “-” control.
    To adjust the temperature, press the “+” or “-” control.

USING THE TIMER

  • To activate the timer function, press the “Timer” control. When the timer indicator comes on and the digits are flashing, press “+” or “-” to set the cooking time.
  • The time can be set from 1 minute to 3 hours.
  • After adjustment, the set time flashes and is then shown steadily on the display. The induction hotplate starts counting down the time.
  • When the count reaches zero, heating stops and the induction hotplate switches off.
  • If you do not set a cooking time, the induction hotplate switches off automatically after a certain time.

USING THE KEEP WARM CONTROL

  • To keep a pot/pan warm, press the “Keep warm” control. In this mode, the induction hotplate heats the pot/pan at low power. This maintains a certain heat in the pot/pan. Important! Power cannot be adjusted in this mode.

USING THE BOOST CONTROL

  • The “Boost” control immediately activates the highest power level. To reset the unit to normal power, press the “Boost” control again.

LOCK

  • Press “+” and “-” to lock the induction hotplate. The lock indicator comes on.
    The “ON/STAND-BY” control can now only be used to switch off the induction hotplate. All other operations are blocked.

  • To unlock the induction hotplate, press the “+” and “-” controls for 3 seconds.
    The lock indicator goes out.

SWITCH OFF

  • When the cooking time has elapsed, the induction hotplate switches off automatically.
  • To switch off the unit, press the “ON/STAND-BY” control. Important! Do not touch the ceramic surface when “H” is shown on the display. This symbol means that the temperature is high. If “L” is shown, the temperature is low.

COMPATIBLE COOKWARE
Use only cookware that is designed for induction hobs (magnetic) and has a diameter of 15 – 20 cm.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before cleaning, switch off the unit and then pull the plug out of the socket. Wait until the induction hotplate’s heating surface has cooled and then start cleaning. Important! Do not rinse the appliance under water.
  • Clean only with products designed for use on hobs.

It is recommended to select power setting level 2 to achieve maximum energy efficiency.
The energy consumption of a domestic electric hob (EC electric hob) is measured in Wh per kg of water heated in a normalized measurement (Wh/kg) considering all cookware pieces under standardized test conditions and rounded to the first decimal place. Standard EN 60350-2:2013 was used as reference for the measurement and calculation.
