Product Information: Sealed Air Foam Drum Changing
Procedure
The Sealed Air Foam Drum Changing Procedure is a safe and
efficient method for replacing foam drums used in a specific
department. It involves the use of a hydraulic drum lifter and
adherence to safety protocols to ensure the proper handling and
storage of the drums.
Product Usage Instructions:
-
Drums are delivered to the Warehouse on pallets. They are
stored in the metal container outside of Goods In. -
When required, the Warehouse will deliver one pallet of 4 drums
to the department. The standard configuration is 2 blue drums and 2
red drums, unless an alternative is requested. -
Store the drums in the department’s specified location.
-
Only trained and authorized personnel should use the hydraulic
drum lifter in the department (refer to RA88). -
Close doors and place a “Do Not Enter” sign on the
outside. -
Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
including gloves, as per the training received. -
Remove the lid from a full drum.
-
Ensure you are working on the same color drum. Remove the pipes
from the empty drum. -
Place the pipes onto the new drum, making sure to never mix
colors. Always connect red pipes to red drums and blue pipes to
blue drums. If colors are mixed, refer to the Sealed Air manual as
the drum is now contaminated. -
Put the empty drum back on the pallet in the specified
location. -
Repeat the changing process for the other colored drum, always
ensuring to never mix colors. -
Contact the Warehouse to request a delivery of new drums when
required. The Warehouse will remove the empty drums on a pallet
during the delivery of new ones.
