Description

Disk drives fail. With the 4-Bay Network Storage Enclosure from D-Link, you can make a backup of your digital files and feel secure knowing that your data is secure. To store, share, and protect your documents, music, videos, and images, use the D-Link® 4-Bay Network Storage Enclosure (DNS-343) now. You can quickly insert up to 4 SATA drives1 using the D-Link tool-less installation without using any tools or connecting any cables. Additionally, the DNS-343 is a scalable solution that lets you begin with one SATA hard disk drive (HDD) and add up to three more as your business expands.

Protection, Effectiveness, and Adaptability

The DNS-343 gives you a range of data protection solutions to assist in preventing data loss due to hard drive failure by supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, and JBOD. For the best speed, RAID 0 combines all drives in a “striped” configuration, distributing data equally across the hard disks. Maximum protection is offered by RAID 1, which makes two drives mirror one another. There are two distinct RAID 1 partitions that can be created if there are four disks available. The unaffected drive in the partition will continue to function correctly even if one of the drives fails.

RAID 1 mirroring will start up once the failed disk is replaced, and the two drives will once more reflect one another. In the event of a disk failure, Advanced RAID 5 provides the highest performance with the most trustworthy data recovery. The DNS-343 will continue to work even if a hard drive fails since RAID 5 technology uses a smart algorithm to disperse your data among 4 SATA hard disk drives.

Administration Made Simple

You may set up schedules, rules, real-time full or incremental backups, storage quotas for particular users and groups, and other features with the backup software that is included. You can create a failsafe security strategy against unintentional data loss on your PC by using backup software to automatically back up your data onto the DNS-343. An OLED is a feature of the 4-Bay Network Storage Enclosure that shows crucial data such as IP address, hard drive statistics, temperature, RAID status, and server status (FTP and UPnPTM) among other things.

USB Port Capability

A USB printer can be added to your network without a separate computer by using the USB port as a print server port. A Universal Power Supply (UPS) monitor that supports ‘ smart signaling over a USB connection can also be supported by the USB port. In the event of a power failure, the UPS unit would be able to securely shut down the DNS-343 thanks to the compatible UPS monitor. The UPS monitor would then turn on the DNS-343 automatically when the power comes back on.

The DNS-343 has a built-in FTP server2 to access files over the Internet and a UPnPTM Media server to stream digital content to compatible media players, allowing for versatile usage. The 4-Bay Network Storage Enclosure (DNS-343) is a secure expandable and dependable storage solution for homes and businesses with RAID 5 technology, an OLED that shows important storage information, a management program that makes it simple to set rules and schedules, and a number of built-in servers.

Safe Back up

With RAID 5 technology built into the DNS-343, you can safely store data over 4 hard drives. Your data will remain safe on the DNS-343 even if one disk fails.

  1. No hard drives are provided. To store or share your files, you need an internal SATA drive. Use of four (4) internal SATA disks is required for RAID 5. Two (2) internal SATA drives are needed to mirror a RAID 1 array. Use SATA drives from the same manufacturer when running RAID 1 and RAID 5 to prevent data compatibility issues. The lowest-sized drive’s drive capacity determines the formatted disk capacity for RAID 1 and RAID 5 operations. Older SATA drive generations might not function.
  2. Be aware that accessing files via an FTP server does not offer secure or encrypted transmissions. It is advised that the end user create a secure FTP session using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Warranty

Four 1TB 3.5″ SATA hard disks are bundled. 1-Year Limited3. One gigabyte, or GB, is equal to one billion bytes, and one terabyte, or TB, is equal to one trillion bytes when discussing hard drive capacity. The operating system on your computer can display a smaller capacity because it uses a different unit of measurement. Additionally, a portion of the capacity listed is used for formatting and other purposes and won’t be accessible for data storage.

Pre-formatted SATA internal drives are included. A minimum of two (2) 3.5″ SATA disks are needed for RAID 1 mirroring. A minimum of three (3) 3.5″ SATA drives are needed for RAID 5. Use SATA drives from the same manufacturer to prevent compatibility difficulties during RAID 1 or RAID 5 operation. Drive capacity of the smallest drive determines the formatted drive capacity for RAID 1 and RAID 5 operation. SATA drives from earlier generations might not function. Visit the D-Link Tech Support website for a complete list of SATA drives that have been verified to function with the DNS-343. ** 1-Year Limited Warranty only available in the USA and Canada.
