FCC publication 996369 related information
In publication 996369 section D03, the FCC requires information concerning a module to be presented by OEM manufacturers. This section assists in answering or fulfilling these requirements.
General
- No requirements are associated with this section.
List of applicable FCC rules
- This module conforms to FCC Part 15.247.
Summarize the specific operational use conditions
- For the Digi XBee Wi-Fi RF Module, see FCC-approved antennas (2.4 GHz) identified in section 2.7 of this addendum.
- Once integrated with the Host Device, the Wi-Fi module will communicate (TX/RX) using 2.4 GHz at the nominal power setting (16 dBM), duty cycle <1% while simultaneously co-located with two (2) additional BLE modules that communicate (TX/RX) with accessory devices also utilizing a duty cycle <1%. Modules will be in portable use, <20 cm proximity to the user’s body.
- Users are not permitted to modify the antenna or alter pre-defined Host or Module configuration settings, outside of connecting and disconnecting other devices.
- BLE modules authorized to be used in co-location with Model 471-0008-01 Wi-Fi Module identified above are two (2) BLE radios FCC IDs: 2AVRK-BMD301.
Limited module procedures
- Not applicable.
Trace antenna designs
- Not applicable.
RF exposure considerations
- See conditions in Section 2.3 above that allow for use <20cm proximity to the user’s body and simultaneous transmission with additional BLE radios.
Antennas
- Only the P/N: A24-QI monopole (Integrated Whip) antenna is approved to be used for this module.
Label and compliance information
- A physical label stating “Contains FCC ID: 2AVRK- XBS6BTH”, shall be used on the outside of the enclosure of the host product.
Information on test modes and additional testing requirements
- Devices shall be reviewed under configured max operational settings (standard use) for SAR and spurious Radiated Emissions. Unintentional Radiators are also required for review, however, due to setting requirements (RF modules disabled), only Athena GTX
- Inc. is permitted to configure a test unit for this mode.
- When testing for all, except for Unintentional Radiators, Wi-Fi must be tested after a connection with a partnering device is established and information is transmitted.
- Additionally, BLE shall be co-located, as such, it needs to be paired with a compatible device to allow RF traffic.
- Antenna power, duty cycle, and transmission rate cannot be altered from approved settings, see RF Exposure report for technical information.
Additional testing, Part 15 Subpart B disclaimer
- Not applicable, see this section in the original Digi XBee Wi-Fi RF Module User Guide Rev W or greater.
