Product Usage Instructions

Safety Precautions:

• Ensure that the product and installation materials are in good condition upon unpacking. Do not use sharp knives to open the packaging.
• If the product is damaged, contact Novy for assistance. Novy is not liable for any damages resulting from improper installation, connection, usage, or operation.
• The installation and electrical connection of the product should be done by a certified professional.
• For easier installation, it is recommended to have at least 2 persons.
• Wear protective gloves when handling metal parts to avoid injuries from sharp edges.

Mounting Instructions:

• Ensure that the mounting structure has sufficient load-bearing capacity.
• Replace any defective or damaged parts with original Novy parts.
• Respect the recommended mounting height for optimal capture of cooking fumes.
• If constructing a custom structure, ensure that the product is centered above the cooktop.
• The cooktop should not be larger than the product or the structure it is built into for optimal performance.

Electrical Connection:
If a plug connection is not possible, a single-pole separation device according to the requirements of overvoltage category III and installation instructions must be installed in the fixed electrical installation. The fixed connection should only be carried out by an electrician.

The directions for use are in a separate booklet supplied with the appliance. These installation instructions make use of a number of symbols. The meanings of the symbols are shown below.

Observe this instruction in order to prevent injury and damage to property

Warnings before installation

• This appliance complies with the applicable safety instructions. However, inexpert installation may cause personal injury or damage to the appliance.
• Check the condition of the appliance and the installation fittings as soon as you remove them from the packaging. Remove the appliance from the packaging with care. Do not use sharp knives to open the packaging.
• Do not install the appliance if it is damaged, and in that case inform Novy.
• Check on the basis of the drawing on Page 2 that all the materials for installation have been supplied. The grease filters are in the appliance.
• Novy is not liable for damage resulting from incorrect assembly, incorrect connection, incorrect use or incorrect operation.
• The installation and electrical connection of the appliance should be left to a recognised expert.
• Safety is guaranteed only with expert installation in accordance with the installation manual. The installing technician is responsible for proper operation at the installation location.
• For easier installation of the appliance, it is advisable to carry it out with at least 2 people.
• Read the directions for use and the installation instructions before installing and using this appliance. You will find important information here for the assembly and use of the appliance.
• Metal parts may have sharp edges, and you may injure yourself on them. For that reason, wear protective gloves during installation.

Installation instructions for the appliance

• Ensure that the structure on or in which the appliance is to be installed can bear its weight.
• Faulty or damaged parts may only be replaced by original Novy parts.
• The greater the distance between the appliance and the hob, the less easily the cooking vapours can be taken up by the appliance. For this reason, pay heed to the stated (recommended) installation height.
• In order to ensure that the cooking vapours are taken up in an optimal way, the appliance, or the structure into which the appliance is being installed, should extend over the hob. When using your own structure, ensure that the appliance is installed centred above the hob.
• For optimal operation, the hob should not be larger than the appliance or the structure into which the appliance is installed.

Installation instructions for the outlet

• The appliance may only be connected with the power plug to a socket with an earth (230 V – 50 Hz).
• If connection with a main plug is not possible, an all-pole isolating switch must be integrated into the permanent electrical installation according to the conditions of overvoltage category III and according to the installation regulations. Only a licensed professional may connect appliances without plugs.
• Safety is only assured when the appliance is connected to an earth cable in accordance with the instructions laid down.
• The appliance must be able to be disconnected from the power at any desired point.
• Do not use an extension cable for the connection to the electrical mains.
• Electric shock: never switch on a faulty appliance, this could cause an electric shock. Take the power plug out of the socket, or switch off at the distribution cabinet. Contact the Novy service department.
• Repairs and replacing faulty or damaged wiring must only be carried out by technicians who have undergone instruction by Novy.
• Moisture that has got into the appliance may cause an electric shock. Do not use a high pressure or steam cleaner.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

1. Mark the centre of the extractor hood on the ceiling. The centre should be exactly over the centre of the hob.
2. Unpack the mounting plate and place it against the ceiling in a way that it is centred when viewed from the hob. Use the mounting plate as a template and mark the 11 points.

3. Drill a hole – and use plugs if necessary – at the 11 points you have marked on the ceiling.
4. Feed the four steel cables included with the appliance through the holes provided for the purpose in the mounting plate.

5. Secure the mounting plate to the ceiling.
6. With two persons, place the cardboard box on the worktop near the point where the extraction hood is mounted.
   • Turn the box in a position that the sticker on the top of the extraction hood with the text ‘FRONT’ is in the correct position. ‘FRONT’ should be on the side where a person will stand while cooking (this is relevant because of the direction in which the bottom plate should be opened).
   • Fold the sides of the cardboard box open and check the extraction hood one more time before you continue the mounting process.
   • Feed the power cord through the ceiling plate and connect it to the power grid.

7. Move the ceiling plate towards the mounting plate on the ceiling..
8. Hook the ceiling plate onto the mounting plate. Next, use four screws to connect the two with each other.

9. Feed the steel cables through the nipples on the appliance.

10. In order to push the cables in further, one must person the side of the extractor hood Hold the cardboard box in the air while the others push the cables further into the cable clamps pushes. Gradually walk alternately to the left and right forward until the extractor hood hangs high enough to hold the box from below to push out.

11. Remove the cardboard box and the packing blocks that protect the sides of the cooker hood.
12. Now loosen the plastic screws by hand with which the transparent cover is fixed to the top of the cooker hood.

13. Remove the protective film from both sides of the transparent cover. Remove any fingerprints and place the transparent cover back on the cooker hood. Fix the transparent cover with the plastic screws by hand. Then do the same for the other three transparent covers.
14. Remove plastic bag monoblock filter Carefully remove the monoblock filter from themetal filter holder by sliding the filter to one side. Remove the monoblock filter from the plastic bag and carefully replace the monoblock filter in the filter holder.

15. Adjustment of the height

  * The recommended mounting height for an electrical or ceramic cooking plate is min. 600 mm and max. 850 mm (B).
  * The mounting height for a gas or induction cooking plate is min. 650 mm and max. 850 mm (B).
  * To avoid draughts above the cooking surface, the minimum distance between cooker hood and ceiling should be at least 250 mm (A).
  * The distance from the topside of the cooker hood to the ceiling can be adjusted from 250 to 1518 mm.
  * Do not exceed the maximum distance to the ceiling (1518 mm) to ensure the safety of the suspension cables (A).
  * As an accessory, 4 longer suspension cables (length 3.5 metres) including a longer power cable can be ordered (item number 7530100).
  * Adjust the width and depth of the cooker hood using a spirit level.
  * If you want to release the cable, you can press the cable clamp and pull the cable at the same time.
  * Always support the cooker hood! As soon as the cable clamp is no longer pressed, the cable will be locked.
