Product Usage Instructions

Installation

  1. Hold the control module against the roadside trailer frame and mark the locations for four pilot holes.
    • Ensure there is adequate length on the attached front 7-way cord to connect to the tow vehicle.
    • Position the module to be level with the top of the frame where it will be installed.
  2. Using a 1/8″ drill bit, drill pilot holes for the four 1/4″ self-tapping screws.
  3. Install the screws to secure the module to the frame.
  4. Connect the attached 7-way cord to the tow vehicle.
  5. Attach the trailer’s 7-way connector to the back of the control module.

Operation & Setup RV Users

  1. Determine your towing scenario and download the app.
  2. Open the app and tap the + icon.
  3. Select ‘Safety Systems’ from the menu.
  4. Select ‘Search for Devices’ to begin pairing.
  5. Once the device is found, tap the device description and then tap ‘Connect’ to begin pairing.
  6. To finalize pairing, enter the 6-digit PIN (PW) number when prompted. This number can be found on the owner’s tag or on the bottom of the device.
  7. A message will indicate a successful connection of True CourseTM.

Auto Users

  1. Determine your towing scenario and download the app.
  2. Open the app and tap the + icon.
  3. Select ‘Safety Systems’ from the menu.
  4. Select ‘Search for Devices’ to begin pairing.
  5. Once the device is found, tap the device description and then tap ‘Connect’ to begin pairing.
  6. To finalize pairing, enter the 6-digit PIN number when prompted. This number can be found on the owner’s tag or on the bottom of the device.
  7. A message will indicate a successful connection of True CourseTM.

Troubleshooting
If issues persist or you encounter diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), follow the blinking patterns as described in the user manual. If problems continue, contact CURT technical support for further assistance.

INSTALLATION

Step 1
Hold the control module against the roadside trailer frame and mark the locations for four pilot holes.
Note : Before positioning the module for marks, make sure there is adequate length on the attached front 7-way cord to connect to the tow vehicle.
Note : Place the module so it is level to the top of the frame where it is to be installed.

NOTICE

  • Be sure to mount the module horizontal and level to the trailer frame. Failureto correctly mount the module may cause the unit to not function as intended.

Step 2

  • Using a 1/8″ bit, drill pilot holes for the four 1/4″ self-tapping screws.
  • Install the screws to secure the module to the frame.

Step 3

  • Connect the attached 7-way cord to the tow vehicle.

Step 4

  • Attach the trailer’s 7-way connector to the back of the control module.

OPERATION & SETUP

Before You Begin
Once the module is connected to the tow vehicle and the trailer’s 7-way connector, the tow control system is active. Connect to OneControl® Auto or RV app for system status and notifications. Real-time updates will be provided. There is a label placed on the bar code on the owner’s tag that will have all the Bluetooth information. Ensure your Bluetooth setting on your smartphone is enabled prior to pairing.

Determine Towing Scenario and Download App

  • Download and install the Lippert OneControl® Auto or RV app on a mobile smart device. Both apps are available on Apple App Store® for iPhone® and iPad® and also on Google Play™ for Android™ users.
  • IMPORTANT : Download and use the OneControl® RV app for RV applications and the OneControl® Auto app for trailer applications.
  • Note : The owner’s tag is also a label and can be removed to be placed in the trailer for reference by the owner.

APP SETUP FOR RV USERS

Step 1

  • Download the OneControl® RV app from the app store.
  • Read and agree to the license agreement.
  • Follow the prompts in the app for connecting to an existing account or creating a new account.
    Note : Make sure the 7-way connector from the trailer is plugged into the True Course™ controller and the 7-way cord from the controller is plugged into the tow vehicle with the engine running or that the 7-way plug has power.

Step 2

  • Tap the + icon and select ‘Safety Systems’ from the menu. From here, select ‘Search for Devices’ to begin pairing.

Step 3

  • Once device has been found, select the device by tapping the device description, and then tap ‘connect’ to begin pairing.

Step 4

  • To finalize pairing, enter the 6-digit PIN (PW) number when prompted. This number can be found on the owner’s tag or on the bottom of the device.

Step 5

  • Once the system has been connected, a message will indicate the True Course™ has connected successfully.

Step 1

  • Download the OneControl® Auto app from the app store.

  • From the home menu, tap the ‘Pair Device’ button under the True Course™ icon.

Step 3

  • Once the device has been found, select the device by tapping the device description, and then tap ‘connect’ to begin pairing.

Step 4

  • To finalize pairing, enter the 6-digit PIN number when prompted. This number can be found on the owner’s tag on the bottom of the device.

Step 5

  • Once the system has been connected, a message will indicate the True Course™ has connected successfully.

TROUBLESHOOTING

NOTICE

  • Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) blinks: One green blink followed by red count; the pattern repeats until the issue is corrected.
  • If there are multiple DTCs, the blink pattern is green then DTC #1 count, then green then
  • DTC #2 count. This continues until all DTCs are accounted for, and then the pattern repeats
  • Should issues persist, contact CURT technical support to speak to a representative who can assist further.
Light Flash (Status) Problem Cause Possible Solution
Off (NO LIGHT) Unit is not powered and not active (OFF and NOT MONITORING).
Activate trailer brakes to turn on. Unit is in low power. Activate tow

vehicle brake to wake unit.

Verify the 7-way connection to unit. Unit is powered by tow vehicle and trailer battery through the 7-way.

3 Green, 3 Red,

3 Blue, Solid Green

| Wake-up self-checks are in progress.| No action.
Green Solid| Unit is awake and monitoring for sway.| Every 5 seconds, there will be a brief time the Green LED turns off for a fraction of a second. This indicates the unit is functional.
Red blink (1/2 second on, 1/2 second off, repeats)| True Course™ detected a sway event and is active.| After the sway event subsides, the light will return to green.
1 Green, 1 Red| Low voltage condition detected.| Check the battery connection and determine the voltage of the battery is within the proper operating range (9 – 16 volts).
1 Green, 2 Red| Voltage is too low for True Course™ operation.| The battery may read normal battery range, but during the units power check it determined the voltage dropped. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
1 Green, 3 Red| High voltage condition detected.| Check the battery connection and determine the voltage of the battery is within the proper operating range (9 – 16 volts). Check all connections at the module and tow vehicle.
1 Green, 4 Red| A short to 12 volt was detected on the brake actuator output.| Verify the breakaway switch is not activated.

Verify blue brake wire is not shorted to 12 volts.

1 Green, 5 Red| Not connected to trailer brakes.| Verify the blue brake wire is connected to the trailer brakes.

Verify the 7-way is properly seated in the unit.

1 Green, 6 Red| A short to ground is detected on the brake wire output.| Verify the blue brake wire is not shorted to the ground or trailer frame.

Disconnect the harness, and wait 10 seconds.

1 Green, 8 Red| Internal load check issue.| Check the 7-way connection to the module and to tow vehicle. Make sure the pins are making good contact.

Disconnect the harness, and wait 10 seconds.

1 Green, 9 – 14 Red| Trailer light issues detected.| Verify all trailer lamps are functional.
1 Green, 15 Red| Module hardware issue detected.| Disconnect the module completely, then reconnect. If issues persist, bypass the module with the trailer.

7-way and plug directly into tow vehicle.

Red Solid| The unit is not functional.| Disconnectthe harness from the tow vehicle and disconnect the trailer harness. Wait 10 seconds.

Connect harness. If the light becomes solid red, unplug the unit and contact the service department.

Red Fast Blink (100 ms on, 100 ms off, repeats)| The unit is in reflash mode.| If reflashing, wait for the process to complete.

If reflash was not requested, Disconnect the module and wait 10 seconds.

5 seconds Green, then 2 seconds Blue| Active BLE Connection.| Wait for LED codes to finish to allow the process to complete.
1 second Blue,

1 second off

| BLE Pairing.| Wait for LED codes to finish to allow the process to complete.
