MOTOR
I. INTRODUCTION
Who is this Guide for?
This guide is aimed at providing support and guidance to Crestron® Integrators
for achieving complete automation of Somfy Power over Ethernet (PoE) motors.
What does this Guide contain?
The sections of this guide contain walkthroughs and methods of integrating
Power over Ethernet (PoE) motors with Crestron.

How should this Guide be used?
This guide is intended to be used as a reference manual.
II. OVERVIEW
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Motor is a low-voltage powered distribution and network-connected motor that utilizes PoE technology power and control from industry-common network switches.
This motor supports both Somfy Synergy™ API and CoAP Digital Building API protocols and is compatible with Power over Ethernet Network Switches IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) Type2 (30W) or higher.
PoE motor system quantity is based on managing the number of devices on the subnet(s) available, unless specific network configurations are in place and managed by an IT Administrator.

III. SYSTEM PREPARATION
SOMFY SYSTEM
A fully operational PoE Motor system is required prior to Crestron programming.
- Confirm with the Shade Commissioning Agent that the PoE Motor firmware is up to date
- Confirm with the Shade Commissioning Agent that all PoE Motors and Groups are configured
- An Integration Report is generated in the PoE Motor Config Tool which will include the PoE Motor IP address
- Obtain the PoE Motor PIN codes from the Motor Information Labels
CRESTRON SYSTEM
A fully operational Crestron system is required prior to Crestron programming. Refer to the Integration Report for the PoE Motor IP address.

USING MOTOR LABELS
Each Somfy PoE motor is supplied with four motor information labels that should be referenced to connect to motors. The label includes a four-digit PIN code for the motor and will be used to log in to the motor. These codes will be used for the life of the product.
DO NOT DISCARD THE MOTOR INFORMATION LABELS!
One of the motor information labels should remain on the body of the motor. The other three labels should be shipped in the packaging of the motorized product, or see below for recommended locations to use the labels.
Suggested locations for the Motor Information Labels:
-
Finished motorized products:
Examples:
– Attached to the motor cable
– Removeable shade hem bar
– Motor cover -
Inside the valance of the motorized product
-
Work order sheet used in project planning
-
Product packaging used for shipping

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Gathering and organizing motor PIN codes and motor information from the
included motor labels is very important in navigating through the PoE motor
graphical user interface.
V. SET UP
ADD POE MOTOR GATEWAY MODULE
This module works in conjunction with the Somfy PoE Motor Endpoint and Group modules to control one or more Somfy PoE motors.
- In SIMPL Windows, OPEN the “Somfy POE Motor v1.0 Demo IP” file
- In the Program View, DOUBLE-CLICK the “S-8 : Somfy POE Motor v1.0 Gateway” module
- In the Detail View, SELECT the Command Processor ID in the
“CommandProcessor_ID” field
The default ID is set to 1. Up to 10 Command Processors are available per project. - ENTER the IP address of one of the PoE motors in the “IP_Address” field
- ENTER the four-digit PIN code from the motor information label in the “Motor_PIN” field
ADD POE MOTOR ENDPOINT MODULE
This module works in conjunction with the Somfy PoE Motor Gateway module to control one Somfy PoE motor. One Endpoint module is required for each PoE motor in the installation.
- In the Program View, DOUBLE-CLICK the “S-4.2 : Somfy POE Motor v1.0 Endpoint: Motor 1” module
