INTRODUCTION
Who is this Guide for?
This guide is aimed at providing support and guidance to Crestron® Integrators
for achieving complete automation of Somfy Power over Ethernet (PoE) motors.
What does this Guide contain?
The sections of this guide contain walkthroughs and methods of integrating
Power over Ethernet (PoE) motors with Crestron.

How should this Guide be used?
This guide is intended to be used as a reference manual.
OVERVIEW
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Motor is a low-voltage powered distribution and
network-connected motor that utilizes PoE technology power and control from
industry-common network switches.
This motor supports both Somfy Synergy™ API and CoAP Digital Building API
protocols and is compatible with Power over Ethernet Network Switches IEEE
802.3at (PoE+) Type2 (30W) or higher.
PoE motor system quantity is based on managing the number of devices on the
subnet(s) available, unless specific network configurations are in place and
managed by an IT Administrator.

USING MOTOR
LABELS
Each Somfy PoE motor is supplied with four motor information labels that
should be referenced to connect to motors. The label includes a four-digit PIN
code for the motor and will be used to log in to the motor.
These codes will be used for the life of the product.
DO NOT DISCARD THE MOTOR INFORMATION LABELS!
One of the motor information labels should remain on the body of the motor.
The other three labels should be shipped in the packaging of the motorized
product, or see below for recommended locations to use the labels.
Suggested locations for the Motor Information Labels:
-
Finished motorized products:
Examples:
– Attached to the motor cable
– Removeable shade hem bar
– Motor cover -
Inside the valance of the motorized product
-
Work order sheet used in project planning
-
Product packaging used for shipping
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Gathering and organizing motor PIN codes and motor information from the
included motor labels is very important in navigating through the PoE motor
graphical user interface.
SET UP
PAIR DEVICES
Refer to the Integration Report for the PoE Motor IP addresses.
ADD POE MOTOR DRIVER TO A ROOM
-
In the Crestron Home Setup software, first COMPLETE “Step 1” of adding rooms to Build Your House
-
SELECT “Step 2” to Pair Devices
-
In Pair Devices:
• SELECT “Drivers”
• SELECT “Platform”
• SELECT “Somfy” -
SELECT a room where the PoE motor system is located
The driver can be added to any room except the “Whole House” room. -
SELECT the “+” icon to add the PoE Motor driver to the selected room
-
ENTER a descriptive name for the PoE motor system
-
ENTER the IP address of one of the PoE motors in the system, then SELECT “OK”
-
ENTER the four-digit Motor PIN code of the same PoE motor, then SELECT “OK”
The Motor Pin is located on the Motor Information Label.
In a multiple PoE motor system installation, REPEAT Step 4 for each additional system
- To Rename a driver, ENTER a name in the Device Name field
- To Remove a driver, SELECT the “<“ icon
ADD POE MOTOR OR GROUP TO A ROOM
-
OPEN the PoE Motor Paired Devices folder
The Paired Devices folder contains all PoE Motors and Groups in the PoE motor system. -
SELECT a room where a Paired Device is located, SELECT the “+” icon to add the device to the appropriate room
A device can be added to any room except the “Whole House” room. -
Enter a descriptive name for the device, SELECT “OK”
• To Rename a device, ENTER a name in the Device Name field
• To Remove a device, SELECT the “<“ icon -
