Safety

    Only use this appliance:

  • for applications described in these instructions.

  • for normal processing quantities and for normal processing times for domestic use.

  • Up to an altitude of max. 2000 m above sea level.

  • for bringing water to the boil.

  • with the base supplied.

This appliance may be used by children aged 8 or over and by people who have reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or inadequate experience and/or knowledge, provided that they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the appliance safely and have understood the resulting dangers.
Do not let children play with the appliance.
Children must not perform cleaning or user maintenance unless they are at least 8 years old and are being supervised.
Keep children under the age of 8 years away from the appliance and power cable.

  • If the appliance or the power cord is damaged, immediately un-plug the power cord or switch off the fuse in the fuse box.
  • Repairs to the appliance should only be carried out by trained specialist staff.
  • If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be re-placed by the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s Customer Ser-vice or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent any risk.
  • Never immerse the appliance, the base or the power cord in wa-ter or clean them in the dishwasher.
  • Liquids must not be spilled on the appliance plug connection.
  • Never use the appliance near water contained in a bath, sink or other vessels.
  • Ventilate the appliance adequately.
  • Nevr operate the appliance in a cupboard.
  • Never place the appliance on or near hot surfaces.
  • Never touch hot appliance parts.
  • Allow hot appliance parts to cool down before touching.
  • Only hold the jug by the handle.
  • Only use the appliance with the lid closed and the limescale filter in place.
  • Never exceed the maximum quantities specified.
  • To avoid injuries, only use the appliance for its intended purpose.
  • Follow the cleaning instructions.
  • Clean surfaces which come in contact with food before each use.

Preventing material damage

  • Only use the appliance with fresh, cold, non-carbonated water. Never add milk, ready-made drinks or instant products.
  • Never operate the appliance when empty or overfilled. Observe the water level indicator.
  • Leave the appliance to cool down for at least 5 minutes after each use.
  • Never remove limescale residues using hard or metal objects.

Preparing the appliance for first use

  1. Remove any packaging material.

  2. Remove any stickers or film.

  3. Unwind the power cord to the required length.

  4. Insert mains plug.

  5. Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water, add a tablespoon of vinegar and bring to the boil.

    Repeat the process without adding vinegar.

  6. Rinse the kettle thoroughly.

Notes

  • To end the heating process early, move the on/off switch up.
  • If you lift the kettle from the base and put it down again, the boiling process will not continue.

Descaling the appliance

Notes

  • Regular descaling:
  • prolongs the life of the appliance
  • ensures proper functioning
  • saves energy
  • If you are descaling the appliance with a commercially available descaler, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use and safety.
      • If you descale the appliance with vinegar,insert 2 tablespoons of vinegar into the water that has been boiled instead of the descaling tablet.
  • If you use the kettle every day, descale it in shorter intervals.
  • After descaling, remove the limescale filter and place in a little vinegar.

Overview of cleaning

  • Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol or spirits.
  • Do not use sharp, pointed or metal objects.
    •  Do not use abrasive cloths or cleaning agents.

Troubleshooting

  • The appliance does not heat up and the on/off switch does not light up.
    Overheating protection is active.
    Leave the appliance to cool down for a long time before switching it on again.

  • The appliance switches off before the water has boiled.
    Build-up of limescale in the appliance.
    Descale the appliance.

  • Water collects at the base.
    Condensation may form for reasons of physics.
    Note: The formation of condensation is normal and harmless.
    Pull out the mains plug and dry the base with a cloth.

Disposing of old appliance

Dispose of the appliance in an environmentally friendly manner.
Information about current disposal methods are available from your specialist dealer or local authority.
This appliance is labelled in accordance with European
Directive 2012/19/EU concerning used electrical and electronic appliances (waste electrical and electronic equipment – WEEE).
