Remote Control

USING THE REMOTE CONTROL

  • Point the remote control at the REMOTE SENSOR located on the unit (see Front Panel illustration for precise location).
  • When there is a strong ambient light source, the performance of the infrared REMOTE SENSOR may be degraded, causing unreliable operation.
  • The recommended effective distance for remote operation is about 16 feet (5 meters).

TO CHANGE REMOTE BATTERY

  1. Open the battery door.
  2. Insert one CR2032 (3V) size battery.
  3. Take out the plastic sheet before operating the Remote Control.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

When the battery becomes weak, the operating distance of the remote control is greatly reduced and you will need to replace it.

Note: If the remote control is not going to be used for a long time, remove the battery to avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.

Warning:

  • Do not dispose of the battery in the fire; the battery may explode or leak.
  • Do not expose the battery to excessive heat such as bright sunshine, fire or similar heat sources.
  • Possibility of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace with only the same or equivalent type.

Caution: When discarding a battery, environmental problems must be considered and local rules or laws governing the disposal of the battery must be strictly followed.

Power Supply

Using the AC adapter

Using an AC adapter other than the one supplied with the unit may damage the unit.

Caution:

  • Before use, ensure the rated voltage of the adapter matches your local voltage.
  • The included AC adapter is for use with this unit only. Do not use it with other equipment.
  • If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, disconnect the AC adapter from the wall outlet.
  • Whenever the AC adapter is plugged into a wall outlet, the AC adapter will draw some power, even when the Sound Bar is turned off.

Configuring the Stands for Wall-mount Applications

The Sound Bar can be placed freestanding on a table or mounted on a wall. If you choose to mount the Sound Bar on a wall, please follow instructions below for removing the stands.

Using a screwdriver, remove the stands from their original configuration (freestanding) as shown and reattach to the Sound Bar in the configuration as shown (for wall-mount).

Caution:

  • We recommend that Wall-mounting be carried out by a professional. The stands’ “key-holes” are intended for use with #8 (Imperial) or M4 (Metric) pan head screws. Additional or alternative parts may be needed for certain types of wall constructions.
  • Make sure that the wall mount is fixed securely enough so that it meets safety standards.
  • Allow at least 2” (5 cm) separation in all directions between the Sound Bar and other AV equipment (such as your TV or Set-Top Box).
  • It is recommended that all cables (AC adapter and Audio cables) be connected to the Sound Bar before placing it on the wall.

Sound Bar Connections

AU X 1 OR AU X 2

Use an Audio cable (included) to connect AUX 1 or AUX 2 on the Sound Bar (rear panel) to the AUDIO OUT of your TV, Set-Top Box or Blu-ray/DVD Player. Be sure to match connector colors.

LINE IN

Plug one end of a 3.5mm cable (not included) into the LINE IN jack (side panel) on the Sound Bar into your iPad®, iPhone®, iPod® or other audio devices.

Sound Bar Basic Operation

  1. Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn on the Sound Bar.
  2. The four LEDs on the top of the unit will flash for a while, please wait for the flashing to stop while the unit is warming up, then NETWORK LED will illuminate.
  3. Press SOURCE to select the input source,
    • NETWORK , AUX 1 , AUX 2, or LINE IN can be selected one by one.
    • The LEDs located on top of the Sound Bar will indicate the currently selected source.
  4. To adjust volume level:
    • Press the VOLUME buttons on the Sound Bar or / buttons on the remote control to adjust the volume level.
  5. To adjust bass or treble level:
    • Press the BASS or TREBLE button on the remote control, and the LED level indicators will show the current bass or treble level,
    • Then press / buttons on the remote control to adjust your desired level while the LED Level indicator is flashing.

Streaming Box Connection

CONNECT TO A TV

  • A. Using a HDMI cable (for best connection)
    • Connect an HDMI cable (not included) to the HDMI OUT jack on your player and to the HDMI IN jack on your TV.
    • Notes:
      • Do not tilt the connector when inserting it into the HDMI jack, and make sure the shapes of the jack and the connector are matched.
      • When using a non-HDCP-compatible TV, the image will not display properly.
      • An HDMI cable carries both video and audio signals. If you want to use TV speakers, you do not need to make an additional audio connection if you are using an HDMI cable.

  • B. Using a Video cable
    • Connect a Video cable (not included) to the VIDEO OUT jack on your unit and the VIDEO IN jack on your TV.

connecting the player to your Wi-Fi network

  • Connecting your player to a wireless access point or router
  • Your unit has an integrated Wi-Fi device and antenna. No physical connection to the wireless router is necessary. Place your unit within range of your wireless network. During the configuration of your unit for network access, you may need to enter a password if your network has security turned on.

Connection Status

  • To check your network connection status:
    • Select the Settings Option from the Main Menu.
    • Then select Network - > Network Test.

Powering up and initial setup

  • Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn on the unit.
  • The four LEDs on the top of the unit will flash for a while. Please wait for the flashing to stop while the unit is warming up. Once done, the NETWORK LED will illuminate. Press the SOURCE button to select NETWORK if the NETWORK LED is not illuminated.
  • Turn on the TV. Ensure your TV is switched to the input source that you’ve connected to the unit. (For details, refer to TV’s user manual). If the TV is connected by a HDMI cable, please allow a few moments for the opening screen to display.
  • The connected TV will display a basic setup screen. This screen will guide you through the initial setup.

Settings & Entertainment

The main menu includes Settings & Entertainment options. Press to highlight an option, press OK to confirm your selection and setting, press to return to the previous menu.

Entertainment:

This gives you access to many applications and services. Some of the services may require a log-in ID and password, and some of the services may require a subscription. The unit will provide you with on-screen instructions if a log- in ID or password is required.

Troubleshooting

The unit does not work

  • Unplug the AC power adapter, wait at least ten seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Ensure the AC adapter is securely inserted into the unit’s power jack and an AC outlet.
  • See the troubleshooting tips below.

The remote control does not work properly Check the following:

  • The batteries are inserted correctly.
  • The batteries are fresh.
  • The remote control is pointed directly at the remote sensor of the unit.
  • The remote control is not being used from too far a distance from the unit.
  • Nothing is obstructing the remote sensor (located in front of the unit).

Streaming video services (such as YouTube, etc.) often stop, pause, or “buffer” during playback

  • If using Wi-Fi, your Wi-Fi Access Point (eg wireless router) may be too far from the unit. If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router closer to your unit or consult an expert on ways to improve your home network’s bandwidth.
  • Your broadband service speed may not be fast enough to stream video services. If so, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may have other service plans that provide higher bandwidth.

How can I check if my network connection is OK?

  • Go to the unit’s Settings Menu, then select Network -> Network Test. This will test if you are successfully connected to your Home Network and if your broadband connection is connected to the internet.
  • Go to the unit’s Entertainment Menu, select VUDU Movies -> My VUDU -> Info & Settings -> Network Speed Test. This will test the speed/performance of your network.

The unit has a poor or intermittent connection to the Wi-Fi access point (eg wireless router)

  • Wireless communication may be interrupted by household devices that use radio frequencies. Move the unit away from them.
  • The Access Point is located too far from the unit.

My Wi-Fi network is not displayed on the “Network List”

  • The access point or wireless LAN router may not broadcast its SSID.
    • Manually enter your access point’s SSID in the Network Settings Menu of the Player.
    • Or set your access point to broadcast its SSID.
  • Your Wi-Fi network may not be set to the frequency range or range of channels that this unit can support. Try adjusting the frequency range and/or channel of your network.

I need to input text to manually configure log-in IDs, passwords, or network settings, but I don’t see an on-screen keyboard

  • Try pressing the OK button on your remote control while the cursor is blinking on the screen’s entry field, this should bring up an on-screen keyboard.
  • Try adjusting the frequency range and channel of your network.

The unit doesn’t display video on my TV screen

  • Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the unit appears on the TV screen.
  • Make sure your HDMI cable or video cable is securely inserted in both the unit and your TV.
  • Your TV may not support the resolution you have set on the unit. Change the resolution to match your TV’s resolution.
  • The player’s HDMI OUT cable is not securely connected to your player or your TV.

The picture noise appears “noisy” or degraded

  • Your unit may be set to a HDMI resolution that’s higher than your TV’s. Change the resolution to match your TV’s resolution.

The Unit has “frozen” or stopped working

  • To reset the unit, unplug the AC power adapter, wait at least ten seconds, and then plug it back in.
  • Make sure your Remote Control is functioning properly.

My Unit seems to shut down by itself, is there a problem?

  • No, in order to save you power, the unit will shut down after prolonged periods of inactivity – don’t worry, it won’t shut down while you’re using it.
  • Note: you can disable this feature, or adjust the Auto Power Down Duration by going to Settings -> System -> Auto Power Down.
