CAUTIONS ON USE

  • Avoid placing the speaker systems in places exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time or near heaters or other heating equipment.
  • Placing in humid or dusty places may result in damage.
  • Exposing the cabinet to insecticides or wiping it with benzene, thinner or other solvents may result in damage or discoloration to the finish. Use a soft cloth or wiping cloth included to wipe any dirt off the cabinet. Use cloths containing chemical substances with care.
  • Do not apply inputs exceeding the speaker system’s max. input (the input which can be applied a short period of time with regular program sources).
  • The output terminals may differ depending on the amplifier being used. Consult the amplifier’s instructions.
  • Clipping or other problems may occur in the output waveform when using the speaker systems with a high output and the amplifier’s tone controls set to the maximum. Avoid using them under these conditions.
  • Never play such special signals as a tape recorder’s fastforwarding signals or sine waves continuously.
  • When moving the speaker systems, be careful not to apply excess force to the speaker nets. Doing so could damage the speaker units.

CAUTIONS ON HANDLE

WARNING

  • In case of ceiling or wall installing, please ask a specialist to make it safely.
  • Fix cord to prevent being caught on it that might make loudspeakers fall down.
  • Please check and confirm again after the loudspeaker would have been installed. Do not forget a periodical inspection also. DENON does not take any responsibility for any accident caused by unsteady installing.

NOTE FOR OUTLOOKING FINISH

CAUTIONS ON INSTALLATION

The tone character produced by speaker systems depends on such factors as the size and type of room, the method of installation, etc. Pay attention to the following points when installing the speaker systems.

  • If the bass sound is overemphasized when the speaker systems are installed directly on the floor, set them on concrete blocks or other hard stands.
  • Note that howling may be produced if the speaker systems are placed on the same stand or shelf as a record player.
  • If there are walls or glass doors behind or in front of the speaker systems, use heavy curtains, etc., to prevent resonance and reflection.
  • This is a low leakage flux type speaker system which can be used near television sets, etc., but with some TV sets the colors may become blotchy. If this happens, turn off the TV’s power, wait 15 to 30 minutes, and turn the power back on. The TV’s self demagnetizing circuit will improve the picture. If the colors are still blotchy, move the speaker systems further away from the TV.
  • Also note that if there is a magnet or any device generating magnetic force nearby, interaction between this device and the speaker systems can cause the colors on the TV to become blotchy.

WARNING

  • For your safety, do not put anything nor lean yourself on the loudspeakers.
  • Do not push the loudspeaker from aside to protect it from topping that may cause serious accident.
  • Fix cord to prevent being caught on it and making loudspeakers topping down.

■ Speaker system (SC-A33XG)
• When setting on a shelf, etc., attach the four included antislip pads (pieces of cork 1 mm thick) to the bottom. (Refer to diagram below.)

FIG 4 Speaker system.JPG

(When mounting on a stand or brackets)
The speaker system (SC-A33XG) can be mounted to a separately sold floor-mount stand (ASS-100,80) using the screw holes on the bottom (60 mm intervals) or to a ceiling suspension bracket (ASG-10/20) using the screw holes on the back (60 mm intervals). When mounting on a stand or bracket, follow the instructions included with the bracket or stand and be very careful to mount the speaker system securely.(See diagram above.)

FIG 5 Speaker system.JPG

(When mounting on a wall)
The wall mount hooks on the rear panel of the speaker system (SC-A33XG) can be used to mount the speaker system on the wall. When doing so, insert the heads of screws, etc., into the holes in the wall mount hooks. (Refer to above figure.) Mount on a solid wall strong enough to withstand the weight of the speaker. Note that Denon will not be held responsible for any injuries or accidents due to the speaker falling.

■ Speaker system (SC-C33XG)
• The front panel of the speaker system (SC-C33XG) is at a slant, designed so it can face upwards or downwards depending on where it is installed.
We recommend installing with the front panel facing downwards
when placing the speaker system in a position above the ears, facing upwards when placing the speaker system on the floor. Set the direction of the saran net according to the direction of the front panel.

When installed facing up
Affix the four included anti-slip pads (approx. 1 mm thick) to the surface in contact with the floor etc. (the side with the larger surface).
(Refer to diagram below.)

FIG 8 When installed facing down.JPG

■ Speaker system (SC-T33XG)
• When using the speaker system on a slippery surface (for example on tiles or a smooth wooden floor), attach the four included anti-slip pads (pieces of cork 1 mm thick) to the bottom. (Refer to diagram below.)

FIG 9 Speaker system.JPG

(Mounting on the base )
The speaker system (SC-T33XG) can be mounted to a separately sold base (ASF-T33) using the four screw holes on the bottom. When doing so, follow the instructions included with the base and be very careful to mount the speaker system securely.

※ When mounting the base (ASF-T33), affix the four included anti-slip pads (pieces of cork 1 mm thick) to four places on the bottom of the set (between the base (ASF-T33) and the set).

CONNECTIONS

★ Before connecting, please consult with the instructions of your amplifier and follow them also.

Be sure to turn the amplifier’s power off when connecting the speaker systems.

  • Use the included cables to connect the input terminals on the back of the speaker systems (see diagram) to the amplifier’s speaker output terminals.
  • Connect the speaker system for the left channel amplifier’s “L” terminals, the one for the right channel to the amplifier’s “R” terminals, matching the polarities (” + ” and ” - ” marks).
  • Inverting the polarities will result in unnatural sound, with the phase off or no low bass sound. Also check that all two terminal knobs are tightly fastened.

Connecting the speaker terminals

  1. Peel off the sheath from the tip of the connection cord, then firmly twist the wires by hand so that they do not stick out and cause short-circuits.
  2. Loosen the terminal by turning it counterclockwise, then insert the connection cord into the hole in the speaker terminal.
  3. Turn the terminal clockwise to tighten it.
Check that none of the core wires are sticking out of the hole.

FIG 10 Connecting the speaker terminals.JPG

Once the connections are completely, gently pull on the speaker cords to make sure they are securely connected.

1.Speaker system (SC-A33XG/SC-C33XG)
• Use the included cables to connect the input terminals on the back of the speaker systems (see diagram) to the amplifier’s speaker output terminals.

2 .Speaker system (SC-T33XG)
For normal use
• Use the included cables to connect the input terminals on the back of the speaker systems (see diagram) to the amplifier’s speaker output terminals.

FIG 12 Speaker system.JPG

(Bi-wiring Connections)
These speaker systems are equipped with input terminals allowing bi-wiring, so two speaker cords can be used for even greater sound. (A network circuit is included, so there is no need for a channel divider.)

  • First prepare two speaker cords. (When bi-wiring, we recommend using cords with excellent transfer characteristics.)
  • The top set of input terminals are for the tweeter and super tweeter, the bottom set for the woofer. First loosen all the knobs, remove both short-circuit plates, then connect the speaker cords to the respective terminals. (See diagram below.) Be sure to remove both short-circuit plates. Twist the other ends (the sides to be connected to the amplifier) of the two cords for the ” + ” side (red) together, and do the same for the two cords for the ” + ” side (black).
  • If your amplifier has two sets of speaker outputs (A and B), the tweeter and squawker can be connected to set A, the woofer to set B (or vice versa). If this is done, set the amplifier’s speaker selector switch to the “A+B” position. If the amplifier does not have an “A+B” position (in other words, if it is not equipped to play the two sets of speakers simultaneously), twist the ends of the two cords together See below and connect them to either the A or B speaker terminals.
  • Finally, check that all connections are correct (” + ” and ” - ” sides, left and right channels) on both the amplifier and the speaker systems, and that all the knobs are tight and the cords securely fastened.
  • The overall impedance of these speaker systems is 6 ohms, so bi-wiring is possible as long as your amplifier’s applicable load impedance is 6 ohms or less. (Tweeter/ Super tweeter:6Ω, Woofer terminals:6Ω)

Connections for Bi-wiring

NOTE: Be sure to remove the short-circuit plates first.

  • For amplifiers with no “A+B” posision

REMOVING THE GRILLE NET

  • The net on the front of the speaker system is detachable.
  • To remove it, grasp it on both sides and pull it towards you.
  • To attach the net, line up the plastic holes of the net with the pegs on the cabinet and press in.

CLEANING

  • Use a wiping cloth attached and wipe lightly to remove dirt from the cabinet and operation panel.
When using chemically treated cloths, follow the precautions that have been written for them.

  • Do not use benzene, thinners, or other organic solvents or insecticides on the main unit since they may cause a change in quality or color.
