Speaker Layout
Layout for Wall Baffle Speakers Installation
The layout of the speakers should be planned before installation. Wall baffle speakers are designed to project sound forward, so it’s best to aim them in the same direction. This ensures greater coverage and clarity. You can utilize the building’s roof pillars or other available supports for mounting the wall baffles. In some cases, you may need to mount the wall baffles on opposing walls, causing the speakers to project sound in opposite directions.
For Hallways and Rooms (20ʼ to 60ʼ Wide):
- Start the layout at one end of the hallway or room.
- Install the first speaker 10ʼ from the end of the hallway or room.
- The next speaker on that wall should be installed 20ʼ from the first speaker, as should any additional speakers needed to cover the length of the hallway or room.
- On the opposing wall, the first speaker should be installed 20ʼ from the end of the hallway or room, staggering the speakers.
- Each additional speaker on the opposing wall should also be installed 20ʼ apart from the previous one. Refer to Figure 1 for visualization.
See Figure 1.
For Open Areas (Layout Varies):
The number of speakers required and their layout in an open area depends on available mounting points.
- Start in one corner of the room.
- Install the first speaker 10ʼ from the wall.
- For the first row, install additional speakers at increments of 20ʼ from the first speaker.
- Follow the pattern shown in Figure 2 : For the next row, install speakers 30ʼ from the first row and 20ʼ from the wall, with 20ʼ increments between each speaker.
- Continue this alternating pattern for each subsequent row until the entire area is covered.
Speaker Installation Instructions
Step 1 – Mark and Hang:
- Mark the point on the wall where you want to hang the speaker.
- Drill an appropriately sized hole in the wall and insert an anchor.
- Drive the screw into the anchor, leaving enough of the screw exposed for hanging the speaker. Refer to Figure 3.
Note: Wall baffle speakers should be installed between 8 and 16 feet from the floor, depending on your needs.
Step 2 – Electrical Connections:
- Make the electrical connections using the 2 screw terminals on the WB1EZ.
- Recommended amplifier connections are:
- (+) 70V terminal – Connect to 70V HOT
- (-) COM terminal – Connect to 70V COMMON
Note: The speaker will also work with these connections reversed. However, ensure consistency in the wiring of the speakers to avoid canceling out bass response in adjacent speakers, which can diminish sound quality.
Step 3 – Volume Adjustment:
- If necessary to adjust the volume, locate the access hole at the bottom of the wall baffle.
- Insert a thin, flat-blade screwdriver and turn the volume control clockwise (as viewed from the bottom of the baffle) to increase the volume.
- To reduce the volume, turn the volume control counterclockwise. Refer to Figure 4.
