OVERVIEW
This kit controls heat and sound on 1988 to 1998 Chevy GMC C/K trucks.
- Remove seats, console & carpet. Clean dirt/debris and recommend using sealer on any rust spots (View from passenger side)
Preparation
- STEP 1. Remove your seats, floor console and carpet according to the manufacturer’s instructions. (Fig 1)
- STEP 2. Once the floor pan is exposed, clean all debris, grease, and rust from the area. Now would also be a good time to coat any areas using Boom Mat Prep spray (50491) to seal and convert any rust and corrosion. (Fig 1)
- NOTE: Darker grey side of material faces up. Lighter side goes down against metal.
- Test fit all pieces in place. Mark & cut all mounting holes needed (View from driver side)
- Test fit all pieces in place. Mark & cut all mounting holes needed (View from driver side)
- Install strips of adhesive Transfer Tape to the floor pan where needed to hold.
- Under Carpet Lite insulation in place. The placement is not critical. Just apply to areas to hold insulation in place.
- Once applied, peel back liner of tape and press Under Carpet Lite Insulation in place.
Installation
- STEP 1. Lay the Under Carpet Lite down as in Fig 2 & Fig. 3. Test fit all pieces before using the DEI Transfer Tape to secure in place.
- STEP 2.While the new insulation is precut to fit your vehicle, we do not cut the holes for seat bolts or belt hardware due to the fact of different configurations and production tolerances. Using a sharpie marker, mark each hole that is needed for your application. Then using a sharp knife, you can cut the holes needed.
- STEP 3. Now that you are satisfied with the fit you can attach the Under Carpet Lite to the floor pan. Cut small stripes of the Transfer Tape and apply to the floor in various areas. The location is not important as long as you use enough to secure the Under Carpet Lite. Lay the Under Carpet Lite back in place and lift areas to expose the transfer tape. Remove the tape backing and press the Under Carpet Lite back in place, pushing in the tape areas. Do this for all the areas around the cab as needed. Fig. 4
- STEP 4.Install your carpet back in place over the new insulation. Reinstall the rest of the interior.
