Product Information

  • Product Name: Hotend Unit
  • Item No.: 2902594

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Loosen the screw and take off the extruder cover.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-1
  2. Loosen the clamping block of the heatsink.
  3. Loosen the screws of the extruder.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-2
  4. Unplug the terminal of the heater and NTC.
  5. Replace the hotel unit as needed, ensuring that the installation direction is correct. The heater and temperature sensor should be rear-facing (as shown in picture 7).
  6. Fix the locating slot of the extruder to the locating screw.
  7. Fasten the screw of the extruder.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-3
  8. Push the hot end unit to the top and fasten the clamping block of the heatsink alternately.
  9. Fasten the screws and install the cover.
  10. Loosen the screw of the aluminum plastic bottom plane.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-4
  11. Unplug the yellow label terminal.
  12. Insert it into the terminal.
  13. Use the USB drive included with your printer.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-5
  14. To refresh the firmware, locate the files config_KTC.Xcode & config_NTC.gcode on the USB disk and follow the instructions provided.
  15. It is important to ensure that the firmware is compatible with the temperature sensor.
  16. Follow the instructions for auto-leveling calibration and the video saved on the USB disk.
  17. Perform Z-offset calibration when changing the nozzle or hot end unit, especially if the height between the nozzle and the sensor has been changed.

You will need the USB drive that was included with your printer.
When you finish all the steps, remember to refresh the firmware and do the auto-leveling calibration:

  1. Firmware refreshing: you can find the refreshing files of “config_KTC. code” &”config_NTC.code” saved in USB disk:
    • If you replace from 260℃ to 400℃, then you have to print with the file “config_KTC.gcode” in the printer to make sure the firmware is compatible with the temperature sensor of thermocouple type “KTC” for hotend unit 400℃.
    • If you replace from 400℃ to 260℃, then you have to print with the file “config_NTC.gcode” in the printer to make sure the firmware is compatible with the temperature sensor of thermal resistance type “NTC” for hotend unit 260℃.
  2. Calibration of auto-leveling: When we change the hotel unit or the nozzle, the height between the nozzle and the sensor has been changed, which has an effect on the auto-leveling results, so we have to do the calibration.

Loosen the screws of the sensor to make sure it can be pulled up and down freely.

  1. Turn on the Z-offset calibration function and place an A4 paper between the nozzle and the print bed.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-7
  2. Use the black position block under the sensor and nozzle to calibrate their height.
  3. Ensure that the height of the sensor is around 1.5mm higher than the nozzle, then fasten the screws of the sensor.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-8
  4. Perform Z-offset calibration under the distance setting of 0.1mm to avoid any damage to the extruder.
  5. Slide the paper back and forth with the Z icon until there is slight resistance between the nozzle and the print bed, then press the icon to finish the calibration.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-9
  6. Put the black position block under the sensor and nozzle to calibrate the height between each other.
  7. Make sure the height of the sensor is around 1.5mm higher than the nozzle when you can fasten the screws of the sensorrenkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-10
  8. Make sure we do the Z-offset calibration under the distance setting of 0.1mm to avoid any damage to the extruder.renkforce-2902594-Hotend-Unit-fig-11
  9. Slide the paper back and forth with the icon until there is slight resistance between the nozzle and the print bed, then press the icon to finish the calibration.
  10. Put inside the metal plate and magnetic mat.
  11. Enter into TOOLS-Preheating.
  12. Press “confirm”
  13. Wait until the temperature of the print bed is up to the pre-set value, in this case, it is 52℃.
  14. Set this position as Z=0, then press confirm.
  15. Enter into Tool–Leveling to perform auto-leveling and finish Z-offset calibration.
  16. Enter into Manual and press the Home icon to move the extruder to the zero position.
