  • These large door products can present more resistance to opening, especially in hotter and more humid conditions. This is normal and not a fault.
  • Due to the vacuum effect created when the freezer door is closed; do not try to re-open immediately, please wait for a short period of time before trying to open the door.
  • Noises – modern energy-saving, more environmentally friendly refrigeration appliances generate many and varied noises when working. This is normal.
  • The product may differ from the image shown. Refer to the actual latest specification if necessary.

Warning and Safety information

If freezing to a frozen surface occurs:

  • Do not tear away!
  • Use cold water to release
  • First Aid, (if necessary).
  • Hold the affected area under cold running water.
  • Do not refreeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.

FIG-5

Storing frozen food

  • Pre-packed commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the frozen food manufacturer’s instructions for a frozen food storage compartment. If possible try to leave air circulation channels through stored food.
  • If there is a power failure do not open the freezer door. Frozen food should not be affected if the failure lasts for less than 13 hours. If the failure is longer, then the food should be checked and either eaten immediately or cooked and then re-frozen.
  • The freezer packs will help maintain the cold temperature in the freezer.
  • If the freezer packs are damaged they should be safely disposed of. (The liquid is not suitable for drinking.)
  • DO NOT lift and carry the drawer by the drawer front – Use side handles to carry.

Loading the freezer

  • Allow air to circulate efficiently, do not pack food too closely together in the freezer sections.
  • Avoid spillage of food particularly small items like rice, peas, beans, etc. through the fan guard as they may cause the cooling system to block and therefore operate less efficiently.
  • The normal storage temperature of the freezer should be Min. -18°C (0°F) or food will decay and be wasted.
  • We recommend that you check the temperature with an accurate thermometer to ensure that the storage compartments are kept to the recommended temperature.

Freezing fresh food

  • Please observe the following instructions to obtain the best results.
  • Do not exceed the freezing capacity of the appliance in any 24-hour period of 10 kg (22 lb).
  • Do not place warm food in the freezer.
  • If freezing large quantities of fresh food activate  ‘Quick Freeze’, 1-2 hours before loading the food.
  • You may place fresh food to be frozen in any part of the freezer.LAMONA-LAM6802-Tall-Integrated-Freezer-Frost-Free-FIG-7
  • The most efficient use of energy is obtained with the shelves and baskets in their default positions, allowing air to circulate throughout the food
  • We recommend that food is always covered and not stored in open containers or foodstuffs. Please remember; that each time the door is opened cold air escapes and the internal temperature rises.
  • Therefore never leave the door open and always close it immediately after food is put in or removed.
  • Due to the vacuum effect created when the freezer door is closed; do not try to re-open immediately, please wait for a short period of time before trying to open the door.

Food storage and energy efficiency

  • The most efficient use of energy is ensured in the configuration of the drawers and shelves in their default positions, with foodstuffs evenly distributed throughout.
  • Well-ventilated, lower ambient temperatures are ideal conditions for energy saving. In very low ambient temperatures (Never less than 5°C) the internal temperatures should be checked with a thermometer and the temperature adjusted as necessary.
  • Ensure the time between buying chilled/frozen food and placing them in the appliance is kept to a minimum, particularly in summer. We recommend you use a cool bag to carry frozen food.
  • Do not leave the door(s) of the appliance open longer than is necessary and ensure they are closed properly after each opening.
  • The most energy-efficient use is with baskets and drawers in their default positions.

Food storage advice and recommendations to avoid waste of food and energy

  • Do – Clean the freezer regularly, see cleaning and care.
  • Do – Check the contents of the freezer.
  • Do – Keep food for as short a time as possible and adhere to ‘Best Before’, and ‘Use By’, dates.

  • Don’t – Consume food that has been stored for an excessive time in the freezer.
  • Don’t – Store cooked and fresh food together in the same container. They should be packaged and stored separately.
  • Don’t – Leave the door open for long periods as this will make the appliance more costly to run and cause excessive ice build-up.
  • Don’t – Put hot food into the appliance. Let it cool down first.
  • Don’t – Store liquid-filled bottles or sealed cans containing carbonated liquids in the freezer they will burst.
  • Don’t – Exceed the maximum freezing loads when freezing fresh food.
  • Don’t – Give children ice cream and water ices directly from the freezer. The low temperatures may cause ‘freezer burns’ on the lips.
  • Don’t – Try to keep frozen food that has thawed, it should be eaten within 24 hours or cooked and refrozen.
  • Don’t – Remove items from the freezer with wet hands.
  • Don’t – Close the freezer door before closing the freezer drawers.

  • If necessary, use a blunt instrument, eg. a spoon handle to remove the ice tray from the freezer if it is stuck.
  • Ice cubes can be removed easily by twisting the tray gently or by holding it under cold running water.
  • Suggestion: Place ice cubes into a freezer bag for long term storage.

Defrosting

  • The freezer’s ‘No Frost’ system means it automatically defrosts. Only routine cleaning is required.
  • Leave spaces in and around the food so that aircan circulate.
  • Ice may build if the freezer drawers are packed tightly or the door is left open for long periods.
  • The glass shelves and adjacent drawers may be removed to allow storage of larger items.
  • Caution: Glass, handle carefully.

Compartment door removal

  • To remove a compartment door, (upper door illustrated).

  • The door seal should be cleaned regularly using a mild detergent and clean cloth. Wipe dry using a clean cloth.
  • If required the door seal can be removed for an extra deep clean.
  • Take extreme care not to damage the door seal(s) when removing and replacing them.

  • (To check the power supply to the main socket, plug in another electrical appliance).
  • The fuse has blown/the circuit breaker has tripped/the main distribution switch has been turned off.
  • The temperature control has been set correctly.
  • The new plug is wired correctly if you have changed the fitted molded plug.
  • Too much ice developing:
  • The door is not closed properly or open for a long period of time.
  • The freezer drawers are too full.
  • Warm food is placed in the freezer.
  • Vibration noise:
  • Products in the freezer make contact with each other or touch the walls of the freezer.
  • Beeping sound:
  • Door alarm – door not closed properly.
  • If the appliance is still not operating after the checks, then call the LAMONA Service Line.
  • Please ensure that the checks have been made as a charge may be made if no fault is found.
