KINGFISHER MJMB65 Automatic Water Softener

KINGFISHER-MJMB65-Automatic-Water-Softener-product

Product Information

The product is an electromechanical control valve used for water softening. It operates on a time cycle and performs regeneration every pre-set number of days at a pre-set time. During regeneration, hard water is available to prevent interruption of the water supply. The control valve interface consists of a set time button, a service wheel for setting the date, and a regeneration wheel.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. To adjust the settings, push and hold the set time button to turn the service wheel and set the desired date.
  2. Connect one side of a draining elastic hose (1/2 diameter) to the fitting on the rear of the softener and run the other end to a nearby waste outlet or sink. Ensure that the sewage system can discard at least 5 l/min of rinse water without obstruction. The elastic hose should be inflexible enough to prevent clogs.
  3. The regeneration process proceeds automatically once configured. Monitor the brine tank to ensure it is topped up with salt as needed.
  4. During regeneration, the softener will automatically refresh the special resin. This process purifies the resin bed from mechanical impurities and rinses it with brine to wash out accumulated Calcium and Magnesium ions to the sewerage.
  5. The resin in the unit does not need to be changed and will last the lifetime of the product.
  6. To top up with salt, follow the instructions provided separately.
  7. The product comes with a warranty. Refer to the warranty terms for details.

Control Valve Features

Electromechanical control valve. The regeneration process proceeds in time cycles and takes place every pre-set number of days (e.g., every 6 days) at a pre-set time (2:00 AM). During regeneration hard water is available to prevent interruption of the water supply.

Control Valve Interface

  • A. Push to Set Time
  • B. Service wheel (containing date)
  • C. Regeneration wheel

Adjusting Settings:

  1. Push and hold the set time button (A) to turn the service wheel (B) to set the time. For example, 12 o’clock on the bottom of the wheel will appear as 12A or 12 depending on if you want am or pm. The service wheel must be left showing IN-SERV which will appear to the left of the wheel. By default, softeners are set to Regen at 2:00 in the morning but can be changed on the regen wheel.
  2. Regeneration Frequency is set on the 12-day disk. The regeneration wheel (C) has pins that represent the days of the week. By pulling out the pins, the softener will regenerate on the days you have removed the pins.

Connection & Installation

Installation is designed to be simple with no plumbing experience required. We recommend that you use standard flexible blue water hoses with a ¾” screw fitting to make connections.

Please Note: Before beginning installation, isolate the water supply.

  1. Connect the water supply (from mains) to the inlet valve at the rear of the machine and the outlet from the softener to the appliance(s) using flexible water hoses.

  2. Connect one side of the draining elastic hose (1/2″ diameter) to the fitting on the rear of the softener and run the other end to a nearby waste outlet or sink.
Please Note: The sewage system should be unobstructed enough to discard 5 l/min of rinse water. The elastic hose should be inflexible enough to rule out the possibility of clogs, which can lead to overflow of the brine tank.

  3. Slowly turn on the water supply, monitoring for leaks in any of your water connections.

  4. Pour approximately 4-5kgs of tablet salt into the brine tank.

  5. Remove air from the system by turning the wheel (B) clockwise to the BACKWASH position. After a few minutes, air will naturally leave the system. Next, turn the wheel back to the IN SERV position and the system will go back to water-softening mode.

  6. Pour an additional 4-5kg of tablet salt into the brine tank.

  7. Connect the device to the power supply and set the current time.

Regeneration Process

  • Regeneration proceeds automatically. Once configured, all you need to do is monitor the brine tank to ensure that it is suitably topped up with salt.
  • During regeneration, the softener will automatically refresh the special resin. This process purifies the resin bed from all mechanical impurities and subsequently rinses the resin with brine, which washes out all accumulated Calcium and Magnesium ions to the sewerage.

The resin never needs to be changed and will last the lifetime of the unit.

Topping Up with Salt

  • To ensure the unit functions correctly, you will need to periodically fill up the brine tank with tablet salt. The minimum amount of salt that must be in the tank for the device to function is about 1/3 of the overall size.
  • Ensure your daily/weekly/monthly checks ensure that the softener contains the appropriate amount of tablet salt.

To fill up with salt:

  1. Lift the cover from the brine tank.
  2. Pour in the salt tablets.
  3. Close the lid.

Warranty

This unit is covered by a commercial warranty and is designed for operation in commercial businesses. For more information on the warranty, please contact your distributor:
