INTRODUCTION
- Thank you for buying our product.
- Please read through these operating instructions, so you will know how to operate your equipment properly. After you finished reading the instructions manual, put it away in a safe place for future reference.
SAFETY
General
- Do not drop the device and do not expose it to liquid, moisture or humidity. These might lead to damage to the device.
- If the device is moved from a cold environment into a warmer one, do let it adapt to the new temperature before operate the device. Otherwise, it might lead to condensation and cause malfunctions in the device.
- Do not use the device in the dust environment as dust can damage the interior electronic components and lead to malfunctions in the device.
- Protect the device from strong vibrations and place it on stable surfaces.
- Do not attempt to disassembly the device.
- If the device is not using for a long period of time, disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the power plug. This is to avoid the risk of fire.
- The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc.
- No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
- To maintain the compliance with the WiFi RF exposure requirement, place the product at least 20 cm from nearby persons except when operating the controls.
Power adapter
- Only use the power adaptor delivered with the device.
- The socket outlet should be installed near the device and should be easily accessible.
- Never touch the power plug with wet hands and never pull on the power cable when pulling the plug out of the power socket.
- Make sure the electrical voltage specified on the device and its power plug is corresponding to the voltage of the power socket. Incorrect voltage will destroy the device.
Risks associated with high volumes
Connect headphones with volume set low and increase it if required. Prolonged
listening through some headphones at high volume settings can result in
hearing damage. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high
volume levels for long periods.
Battery handling and usage

Only adults should handle battery. Do not allow a child to use this apparatus unless the battery cover is securely attached.

Remove batteries if exhausted or if they will not be used again for a long period. The incorrect use of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and will corrode the compartment or cause the batteries to burst, therefore:
– Do not mix battery types, e.g. alkaline with zinc carbonate.
– When inserting new batteries, replace all batteries at the same time. -
Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly.

GETTING STARTED
POWER SOURCE
Mains Power
NOTE: Connecting the unit to any other power source may cause damage the
unit.
- Unwind the mains adapter cable to its full length. Connect the end of the cable to the DC IN socket at the rear of the unit and then connect the mains adapter to the mains socket. Make sure the mains adapter is firmly inserted into the mains socket. The unit is now ready to use.
- To switch the unit off completely, unplug the mains adapter from the mains socket.
Battery Power
Insert 4 x 1,5V AA batteries (not included) correctly by following the
polarity (+ or –) indications in the battery compartment.
NOTE: When the batteries become weak, the display will show <Battery
Low>. The batteries should be replaced. When the batteries are completely
exhausted, the power is turned off.
BASIC OPERATION
Powering ON/OFF
After connecting the mains adapter to the unit and the mains socket, the unit
will enter Standby mode.
- Press the STANDBY button to switch on the unit.
- Press the STANDBY button again to switch the unit back to Standby mode.
- Disconnect the power cable of the mains adapter from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit off completely.
Display Backlight (Mains Power only)
There are four backlight levels (High, Medium, Low, Off) to choose from. To
set the backlight level, repeatedly press the DIMMER/SNOOZE button and the
brightness of the display will change.
Sleep timer
To set the sleep timer press the SLEEP button repeatedly to adjust the sleep
time (OFF, 10, 20, 30, 60, 70, 80, 90 minutes).
Volume
Rotate the VOLUME knob to adjust the volume.
Mode selection
Press the MODE/ALARM button repeatedly to select the desired source.
NOTE: DAB+ and FM stations will only be available separately when
BestTune™ is set to Off.
PRESETS
You can store up to 30 of your favorite DAB or FM stations to the memory. This
will enable you to access your favorite stations quickly and easily. To store
a preset, you must first be listening to the station that you would like to
save.
Storing to Presets 1-2
- Press and hold the PRESET 1-2 buttons.
- The words <Preset # saved> will show on the display.
Storing to Presets 1-30
- Press and hold the PRESET 3+ button, and then turn the SELECT knob to select the preset station number to save. Press the knob to confirm selection.
- The words <Preset # saved> will show on the display.
Recalling Presets 1-2
Press the PRESET 1-2 buttons.
Recalling Presets 1-30
Press the PRESET 3+ button, and then turn the SELECT knob to select the
desired preset station number. Press the knob to confirm selection.
NOTE: If you choose a preset station number that has not been allocated a
station, the display will show
BestTune™
NOTE: Pull out the rod DAB+/FM antenna for DAB and FM reception.
Congratulation, your new radio contains BestTune™. The feature presents DAB+
and FM radio stations in a single list. The selected station will
automatically be played on DAB+ or FM, based on which has the best reception.
You will see a single list of radio stations after the initial scan and will
no longer have to choose between FM and DAB+ modes.
Turning On/Off the BestTune™
- Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu.
- Turn the SELECT knob to select
, and then press the knob to confirm. - Turn the SELECT knob to select
, and then press the knob to confirm. - Turn the SELECT knob to select
for turning on BestTune ™ mode, or select for turning off, and then press the knob to confirm selection.
Automatically Setting the Clock
The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in
your location.
In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave the unit to
receive signals from the DAB/FM station for a period of time.
BestTune™ Operation
When the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from
standby mode for the first time or you have just performed a factory reset,
the unit will automatically enter into the BestTune ™ mode and perform
full scan.
During the scan the display will show <Scanning…> together with a slide bar
that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have
been found so far.
Once the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically
from found stations.
To explore the found stations, press turn the SELECT knob to find a
station that you would like to listen to, and then press the knob to confirm
selection.
NOTE: FM stations without RDS available are not included in the Station
List.
Station List
The Station List will show all the found DAB and FM stations after scanning.
- To explore the Station List, press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu.
- Turn the SELECT knob to select
, and then press the knob to confirm. - Turn the SELECT knob to select a station, and then press the knob to confirm selection.
BestTune™ Scan
The BestTune™ Scan will search for the entire DAB and FM channels.
- To perform BestTune™ Scan, press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu.
- Turn the SELECT knob to select
, and then press the knob to confirm. The display will show <Scanning…> and a progressing slide bar. - All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore and listen to the found stations, turn the SELECT knob to select a station, and then press the knob to confirm selection.
BestTune™ Display (Info.)
NOTE: Press the SELECT knob repeatedly to resize the image on the
display.
To view further information broadcast by the station, press the INFO/MENU
button, the display will show the following information:

Station service title. -
If more than one source is available, press knob and then turn the SELECT knob to choose the preferred source (DAB or FM), then press knob to confirm. -
This describes the programme type that is being broadcast. -
FM frequency or DAB channel dependent on Source. -
The bitrate for a digital source (0kbps displayed for FM sources) -
Signal strength expressed as a percentage.
Prune Invalid
This function allows you to delete all of the stations that are not available
or in very poor reception.
- To perform pruning invalid stations, press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu.
- Turn the SELECT knob to select
, and then press the knob to confirm. - Turn the SELECT knob to select
for confirm deletion, or select for exist, and then press the knob to confirm selection.
DAB OPERATION
NOTE: DAB mode is only available when BestTune is set to Off.
To explore and listen to the found stations, turn the SELECT knob, and then
press the knob to confirm selection.
DAB Scan
NOTE: Press the SELECT knob repeatedly to resize the image on the
display.
The DAB Scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan
has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically
selected.
- To activate DAB scan, press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu, then turn the SELECT knob to select
. Press the knob button to confirm. The display will show <Scanning…> and a progressing slide bar. - All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically.
DAB Display (Info.)
To view further information broadcast by the station, press INFO/MENU button,
the display will show the following information:

Station service title. -
To display the current source. -
This describes the programme type that is being broadcast. -
DAB channel. -
The bitrate for a digital source. -
Signal strength expressed as a percentage.
Manual Tune
As well as the normal method of scanning, you can also manually tune to a
particular channel / frequency. This can be useful for adjusting your antenna
to achieve the best possible reception and scanning a particular channel to
update the station list.

Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter into menu, then turn the SELECT knob to select
. Press the knob button to confirm. -
Turn the SELECT knob to scroll through the DAB channels, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
-
After your desired channel number is selected, press the knob to enter the current multiplex.
It will now display the multiplex and you will see the signal strength. -
You will not see any new radios stations or hear anything while in manual tune. To find the newly tuned in stations search through the Station List.
Prune Invalid
You may remove all unavailable stations from the list.
- During DAB mode, press and hold INFO/MENU button, and then turn the SELECT knob to select
. Press the knob to confirm. - Turn the SELECT knob to select
for confirm deletion, or select for exist, and then press the knob to confirm selection.
FM OPERATION
NOTE: FM mode is only available when BestTune is set to Off.
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the MODE/ALARM button. The display will
show the frequency or station name and any further RadioText information if
available.
Auto Scan
- To search for an FM station, turn the SELECT knob clockwise or counter-clockwise, and then press the knob to start the forward or reverse scanning.
- Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
- To search for FM stations manually, turn the SELECT knob until your desired frequency is reached.
NOTE: With FM radio, it may be necessary to fine-tune each station by
turning the SELECT knob to your desired by adjusting the frequency by 0.05
MHz. If reception is still poor, adjust the position of the aerial or try
moving the radio to another location.
Scan Setting
This is a scanning option to scan all stations, or just scan stations with
strong signal.

Press and hold INFO/MENU and then turn the SELECT knob to select

Audio settings
All stereo stations are reproduced in stereo. For weak stations, this may
result in a poor signal-to-noise ratio (hiss).

FM Display (Info.)
To view further information broadcast by the station, press INFO/MENU button,
the display will show the following information:

BLUETOOTH
In Bluetooth mode, you can turn on the Bluetooth of your Bluetooth device. Go
to the menu and turn Bluetooth discoverable. From your Bluetooth device,
search the radio RA-E731B-DAB to pair. If the pairing is successful, the
display will show
- To increase/decrease the volume, turn the VOLUME knob.
- To pause/resume playback, press the SELECT knob.
- To skip to a track, turn the SELECT knob.
NOTE: The operational range between the unit and the device is
approximately 8 meters.
If the signal strength is weak, your Bluetooth receiver may disconnect, but it
will re-enter pairing mode automatically.
For better signal reception, remove any obstacles between the unit and the
Bluetooth device.
Compatibility with all devices and media types is not guaranteed.
Some mobile phones with Bluetooth functions may connect and disconnect as you
make and end calls.
This is not an indication of a problem with your unit.
AUX IN
AUX in mode plays audio from an external source. Turn the volume low on both
the radio and, if adjustable, the audio source device. Enter AUX mode, then
adjust the volume as required.
ALARMS AND SNOOZE
As well as a clock/calendar, there are two wake-up alarms with snooze
facility. The alarm sound for each alarm can use a Buzzer, Digital Radio or
FM.
Alarms (Mains Power only)

Press and hold MODE/ALARM button to enter Alarm menu.

Turn the SELECT knob to select <Alarm 1> or <Alarm 2> and the knob to confirm.

Turn the SELECT knob to select and press the knob to confirm below option:
–On / Off
–Daily / Once / Weekends / Weekdays
–(Alarm On time)
– -
Finally, press INFO/MENU button to return to Alarm menu and press INFO/MENU button again to exit alarm setting.
NOTE: In Stand by mode active alarms are indicated by displaying the
relevant Alarm 1 and/or Alarm 2 icons.
At the set time, the alarm will sound, quietly at first, then gradually
building up to the set volume. To cancel a sounding alarm and switch the radio
to standby, press the STANDBY button.
Snooze (Mains Power only)
To temporarily silence a sounding alarm, press DIMMER/SNOOZE button. You can
change the snooze period by repeatedly pressing DIMMER/SNOOZE button. Snooze
periods are 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes. The radio returns to standby for the set
time period with a snooze countdown displayed. When the countdown reaches 0
(zero) the alarm is triggered again.
Press the STANDBY button to fully cancel a sounding alarm and switch the radio
to standby.
SYSTEM SETTINGS
Press and hold INFO/MENU to enter Menu. Turn the SELECT knob to select <System
Settings> and press the knob to confirm. Use the knob to move through the menu
and confirm the setting by pressing the knob. Press the INFO/MENU button to
exit the menu.
Sleep
Set the Sleep timer.
Time/Date
Set the time/date manually.
You can also edit the details of the time/date settings and change the Clock
Style.
Language
Set the desired language.
NOTE: The default language is Czech. Available languages: English, and
Polish.
Factory Reset
Perform a factory reset.
Software Version
View the software version.

MAINTENANCE / CLEANING
- Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning.
- Never use any harsh or strong solvents to clean the device since these may damage the surface of the device. Dry, soft cloth is appropriate, however, if the device is extremely dirty, it may be wiped off with a slightly moist cloth. Make sure the device is dried off after cleaning.
When you are necessary to ship the device, store it in its original package. Save the package for this purpose.
