Before inserting new batteries, thoroughly clean the battery compartment with a damp paper towel, or follow the battery manufacturer’s advice for clean up. Batteries must never be discarded by incineration, by fire, in a hot oven, by cutting or mechanically crushing, which could cause an explosion.
