A dual or triple zone can only be switched on if the basic zone of a heater is set to a level between 19 and the heater is selected (this is indicated be the dot being illuminated).

If is pressed, the signal sounds and the Dual Zone Indicator is illuminated. If is pressed once again, there is another buzzer and the triple heater is switched on. The Triple Zone Indicator will be illuminated and the triple zone will be energized.

Pressing again will switch off the triple zone of the heater. Each operation causes a status change of the dual/triple zones in the following manner (Dual zone on, triple zone on, all extended zones off, dual zone on, triple zone on, dual zone on, etc. …)

Set Cooking Level with and without Heat Boost

All heaters are equipped with heat boost functionality.

If the heat boost is active, the heater will be operated with maximum power for the period of the heat boost time, which is dependent on the selected heat setting. This is indicated through a flashing ‘ A ‘, alternating with the heat setting value (e.g. 0.5 sec “ A ” and 0.5 sec “ 9 “) in the heater display. Once the heat boost time has ended only the heat setting will be indicated.

If the heat boost is to be used for a heater, level 9 must be selected by pressing starting from level 0. After setting the heat to level 9, “ A “, will be displayed alternating with the 9. This means that level 9 and heat boost is now active.

The heat boost can be turned off by pressing until heat setting “ 0 ” appears.

If the heat boost is required, it can be activated by pressing . If the heat setting is set to level 9. In the heat display “ A/9 ” flashes.

Turn Off Individual Heaters

A heater can be turned off in 3 different ways:

  • Simultaneous pressing of and buttons
  • Reduction of the heat setting to “ 0 ” by pressing the button
  • Use of the timer turn off function for the corresponding heater

Simultaneous operation of  and buttons

The corresponding heater must be chosen with the Activate/Deactivate Heater Button , the Decimal Point of the related Heater Display flashes. To turn off the heater, and must be pressed simultaneously. A buzzer sounds and “ 0 ” appears in the heat setting display.

If the timer is active for the selected heater, then “ 0 ” will appear in the heater display and also the related timer Cooking Zone Indicator. The Timer Function and the Timer Display is turned off.

If there is any residual heat for the heater, this will be indicated by a “ H ” in the heat setting display.

Reduction of the heat setting to “0” by operating button.

The heater can also be turned off by reducing the heat setting to “ 0 “. When a Heater Display indicates “ 0 “, the associated Decimal Point of the heater will also be turned off.

Turning off an active heater causes not only “ 0 ” to appear in the Heater Display, but also the related timer Cooking Zone Indicator and the Timer Display to turn off.

If there is any residual heat for the heater, this will be indicated by a “ H ” in the heat setting display.

Use of timer turn off function for corresponding heater

After counting down to zero, the timer stops. The corresponding heater shows ‘0’ in the Heater Display and the Timer Display shows “ 00 “. The corresponding timer Cooking Zone Indicator disappears.

An assigned Dual/Triple Zone Selection Indicator also disappears if it is active.

Additionally the buzzer sounds when the timer stops. Touching any button will silence the timer.

Timer Function

The timer provides following features:

The control can run all heater assigned timers and 1 minute minder (which is not assigned to a heater) simultaneously.

All timers can only be used in B-Mode. A heater timer can only be assigned to an active heater, set at a level between 1-9. The minute minder is independent of any heater.

In order to use both functions, the timer function must be activated using the Activate/Deactivate Timer button .

Touching  for the fist time after activating the heaters, controls the minute minder (no Cooking Zone Indicator is flashing, they are all on or off).

Touching  for a second time, assigns a timer to one of the activated heaters. The Cooking Zone Indicator will be flashing.

Touching again, assigns the next timer in a clockwise direction to the next active heater. And so on…

Minute Minder

No matter whether a heater is activated or not, the minute minder can be operated by pressing , “ 00 ” is displayed and shows that timer is active. The dot in the Timer Display indicates that and can now be used to set the timer value.

The minute minder can be selected when all Cooking Zone Indicators are on or off (no Cooking Zone Indicator is flashing).

With and , the timer value can be set. The minute minder timer begins counting down once it has been set.

The minute minder cannot be stopped by switching off the appliance or activating the key lock function, it will continue to count down.

After reaching the “ 00 “, the timer, buzzer sounds. To stop the buzzer, press any button.

Heater timer

Heater timers can be set only for activated heaters (heater level must be set between 1-9).

The first touch of , activates the minute minder. After touching for a second time, the timer is assigned to the activated heater. This is indicated by the corresponding Cooking Zone Indicator flashing.

Touching again after activating the first heater timer, activates the timer for the next active heater in a clockwise direction. This is indicated by the flashing Cooking Zone Indicator.

Pressing and , will allow you to set the timer value for the heater.

The timer for the heater that was set first is indicated by the illuminated Cooking Zone Indicator.

Touching once again allows further timers to be assigned to other activated heaters.

10 seconds after the last operation, the timer display changes to the timer that will run out next. The assignment of the timer is displayed by a flashing Cooking Zone Indicator. The number of timers that are running is indicated by the number of cooking zone indicators that are illuminated.

By toggling , you can display the timer values for the heater timer and the minute minder. The assignment is always indicated by the flashing Cooking Zone Indicator. If no Cooking Zone Indicator flashes, the minute minder time is shown in the 2-digit Timer Display.

All heater timers can be cleared by switching the appliance into S-Mode using . A minute minder will not be cleared, it will continue to count down,

To clear a timer in Operation Mode, you first have to select the timer by toggling the Activate/Deactivate Timer Button until it is displayed. The value can be cleared in 2 different ways:

  • Decrement, by pressing until “ 00 ” appears on the Timer Display.
  • Press and simultaneously for 0.5 seconds until “ 00 ” is shown in Timer Display.

Once a timer reaches “ 00 “, the corresponding heat level will be set to “ 0 “. The end of a heater timer or the minute minder is indicated by a buzzer This can be stopped by pressing any button.

Key Lock

The key lock function is used to set ‘save mode’ on the appliance during operation. It will not be possible to make any adjustments by touching the buttons (for example heat settings). It will only be possible to switch the appliance off.

The lock function is active, if the Key Lock button is pressed for at least 2 seconds. This operation is acknowledged by a buzzer. After successful operation, the key lock Indicator flashes and the heater is locked.

The heater can only be locked in Operating Mode (B-Mode).

If the heater is locked, only the button can be used. All other buttons are blocked. If any other button is pressed in the blocked mode, the buzzer sounds and the Key Lock Indicator flashes. Only the switch off by operation by using is possible. However, if you switch off the appliance, you can not restart it again without unlocking.

After pressing for 2 seconds, the Key Lock Indicator disappears. Now, the hob control is unlocked and can be operated in normal order.

Child Lock

Child lock functionality is used to lock the appliance in a complicated multi- Step process. Child lock (and unlocking) is only available in the S-Mode.

First has to be pressed until the buzzer beeps, then and have to be pressed simultaneously for at least 0.5 seconds, but no longer than 1 sec. Following that, the appliance can be locked by touching . All heater displays show “ L ” as confirmation.

If the minute minder is still running, it will proceed until ‘ 00 ‘ is reached and the timer will beep. After confirmation of timer completion, the appliance is fully locked. None of the buttons can be used as long as the appliance is locked.

Child lock can be deactivated in the same way that it is activated. After pressing a beep is heard, and have to be pressed simultaneously for at least 0.5 seconds, followed by pressing only . As confirmation for successful unlocking, “L” will no longer be displayed.

Touch Control Safety Functions
The following safety functions are available to avoid unintended operations

Sensor Safety Cut Off
To prevent the appliance from unwanted button operation, button monitoring is included. In cases where one or more buttons are pressed for longer than 12 seconds, there is an audible noise to indicate an incorrect operation (pot or other object placed on the button, sensor failure, etc.) and the appliance switches off.

The safety turn off causes the hob to go into S-Mode. An “ F ” will flash in all heater displays.

If residual heat is present, it will be displayed in all other heater displays.

The hob control will then go into S-Mode. At the same time a buzzer sounds. After 10 minutes the buzzer will stop.

If there is no erroneous operation present, both the visual and the audible signals will disappear.

Over Temperature Switch Off

Due to the controls being very close to the heater in the middle of the front of the hob, it can occur that an incorrectly placed pot is not sensed by the sensor safety cut off (not covering a button) and heats up the hob to a very high temperature, which makes the glass and the buttons dangerous to touch.

To prevent the hob control unit from damage, the controls constantly monitor the temperature and switches off if overheating occurs.

This is indicated with the letter “ t ” in the heater display until the temperature decreases.

Once the temperature has dropped, the “t” in the heater display will be cleared and the hob control unit reverts back into S-Mode. This means that the user can reactivate the appliance by pressing .

Operating Time Limitations

The hob control unit has a limitation on the operating time. If the heat setting for a heater has not been changed for a certain time, the heater will turn off automatically (for 10 sec a “ 0 ” is displayed. Some residual heat may be present). The limit of the operating time depends on the selected heat setting.

If a timer was associated with the heater, “ 00 ” will be shown on the timer display for 10 sec. After this, the timer display turns off.

After a heater has been automatically turned off, as described above, the heater can be used and the maximum operating time for this heat setting is applied.

Residual Heat Functions

After all cooking processes there is some heat stored in the vitroceramic glass called residual heat. The appliance can calculate roughly how hot the glass is. If the calculated temperature is higher than + 60 °C, then this will be indicated in the corresponding heater display. After the heater or the hob control has been turned off, the residual heat display is shown as long as the calculated heater temperature is > + 60 °C.

The residual heat indicator has the lowest priority and is overwritten by every other display value and during safety switch offs and the displaying of error codes. When voltage is supplied to the hob after a power interruption, the residual heat display indicator flashes. If a heater had a residual heat of greater + 60 °C before the power interruption occurred, the display will flash while the residual heat remains or until the heater is selected for another cooking operation.

Hints and Tips

Important: When ceramic heaters are operated in higher heat settings, the heated areas may be seen switching on and off. This is due to a safety device, which prevents the glass from overheating. Some switching on and off when cooking at high temperatures is quite normal, causes no damage to the hob and little delay in cooking times.

WARNING:

  • Never operate the hob without pans on the cooking zone.
  • Use only flat saucepans and with a sufficiently thick base.
  • Make sure the bottom of the pan is dry before placing it on the hob.
  • While the cooking zone is in operation, it is important to ensure that the pan is centred correctly above the zone.
  • In order to conserve energy, never use a pan with a different diamater to hotplate being used.
  1. Circular Saucepan Base
  2. Small Saucepan Diameter
  3. Saucepan base that has not settled
  • Do not use saucepans with rough bottoms since these can scratch the glass ceramic surface.
  • If possible, always place lids on the pans.
  • The temperature of accessible parts maybe high when the appliance is operating. Keep children and animals well away from the hob during operation and until it has fully cooled after operation.
  • If you notice a crack on the cook top it must be switched off immediately and replaced by authorised service personnel.
5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
5.1 CLEANING

WARNING: Switch off the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning is to be carried out.

If these substances melt, they can damage the glass-ceramic cooktop. When you cook very sugary items like jam, apply a layer of a suitable protective agent beforehand if it is possible.
  • Dust on the surface must be cleaned with a wet cloth.
  • Any changes in colour to the ceramic glass will not affect the structure or durability of the ceramic and is not due to a change in the material.

Colour changes to the ceramic glass may be for a number of reasons:

1. Spilt food has not been cleaned off the surface.
2. Using incorrect dishes on the hob will erode the surface.
3. Using the wrong cleaning materials.

Cleaning the Stainless Steel Parts (if available)

  • Clean the stainless steel parts of your appliance on a regular basis.
  • Wipe the stainless steel parts with a soft cloth soaked in only water. Then, dry them thoroughly with a dry cloth.

Do not clean the stainless steel parts while they are still hot from cooking.
