Tornado Tin Opener – DL01040008
Getting started
BATTERY INSTALLATION (see figure 2):
Hold the unit with the bottom facing up and the narrow end away from you.
Place your thumbs on either side of the magnet and push forward. The battery
cover will loosen. Lift off and place 2 “AA” batteries in the compartment with
the correct polarity shown in the diagram within each compartment. Replace the
cover. Never mix batteries of different types or mix old and new batteries.
Replace both batteries at the same time.
Care and Maintenance
- If the Tornado Tin Opener slows during cutting, this may indicate a low battery level and the batteries should be replaced.
- You can use a clean damp cloth or a sponge to wipe the surface of the Tin Opener but do not wash it under running water or other liquids. Do not use solvents and abrasives when cleaning.

Trouble shooting
- If the batteries are depleted and the Tin Opener is still on the can, you will not be able to remove it by pressing the button. In this case, you will need to replace the batteries.
- The magnet in the centre of the Tin Opener will often pick up the can lid and remove it. If the magnet doesn’t hold, you may need to carefully lift the lid off by hand.
- If the opener stops during use, (it has not released the can, and the reverse button does not work), a screwdriver may be inserted in the release screw and slowly turned counter-clockwise until the cutting blade retracts.
- The opener is meant only for smooth round cans. Cans with bumps, dents or squared corners may cause it to jam. Not meant for use on rimless cans.
NOTE: The blade cuts around the lid will be very fine and may not be immediately obvious.
Using the Tornado Tin Opener
- Please put the edge of the tin in between the blade and the gear. If the blade and cutter are engaged, carefully press and hold the reset button until the motor stops. (Fig 3)
- Push Tin Opener down fully on the tin without any space in between them. (Fig. 4)
- With the tin on a flat surface, press the start button for about one second and release the Tin Opener when it starts to cut the can. (Fig. 5)
- When finished, lift the opener off the can. Carefully remove the lid from the magnet and discard (Fig. 6)
- If the can is not completely opened push the start button again. (Fig. 7)
- If jammed, push and hold the reverse buton until the opener returns to the open position. (Fig. 8)
