All GASTROBACK® products are intended for food processing of food products and groceries. For reasons of health protection and hygiene, products that are used on a daily basis or used only once, are not allowed to be returned. Check the goods just as you would do in a retail store.
You only have to pay for a possible loss in value of the goods, if this loss of value is due to a non-necessary for the examination of the nature, characteristics and function of the goods handling.
An unnecessary way to check the nature, characteristics and function of the goods is the processing of food products or groceries into food and drinks.

We attach a certain importance to your safety. Thus, we ask you to read all provided instructions and information in this booklet carefully and completely, before you start running the appliance. This will help you to know all functions and properties of your new appliance. We especially ask you to adhere strictly to the safety information mentioned in these instructions.

DESCRIPTION

This appliance is designed for preparing rice, porridge, soup and cake as well as steaming foodstuff.
The appliance is intended for private use and not for professional operation.
The appliance is intended for indoor use only. Use the appliance only as described in this manual. Any other use might lead to damage of the appliance, property or personal injury.
No liability will be accepted for damage resulting from improper use or non- compliance with this manual.

| Read this instruction manual carefully before using the appliance. Familiarise yourself with the operation, adjustments and functions of switches. Internalise and follow the safety and operation instructions in order to avoid possible risks and hazards.

  1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

  2. The appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  3. Children shall not play with the appliance.

  4. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.

  5. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

  6. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

  7. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar appli- cations such as:
    – staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    – farm houses;
    – by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
    – bed and breakfast type environments.

  8. WARNING! Avoid spillage on the connector.

  9. Regarding the instructions for cleaning surfaces in contact with food, please refer to chapter “After use”.

  10. WARNING! Misuse may lead to injury. Use this appliance solely in accordance with these instructions. Do not attempt to modify the appliance in any way.

  11. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.

  12. The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  13. Do not move the appliance while it is filled with ingredients, operating or hot.

  14. Always use oven mitts to handle the hot appliance. Be aware that the appliance will stay hot for some time after operation.

  15. Do not touch the steam outlet during and for some time after operation.

  16. Never use accessories other than those provided with the appliance or recommended by the manufacturer. They could pose a safety risk to the user and might damage the appliance. Only use original parts and accessories.

  17. Keep a distance of at least 50 mm around the appliance to other objects to ensure sufficient ventilation.

  18. Do not attempt to modify the appliance in any way.

  19. Do not put metal foils or other materials in the appliance, as this will cause a risk of fire or short circuit.

  20. Do not cover the steam outlets with towels or other objects during operation.

  21. Always connect the power cord to the appliance first, then connect the power plug to the electrical supply. Always turn the appliance off before disconnecting the power plug.

  22. The appliance is not intended to be used with a multisocket unit or an extension cable. The power plug of the appliance should have its own independent and properly grounded socket. Using adapters may cause overheating or fire.

  23. Always place and operate the appliance on an even, stable, heatresistant and dry surface.

  24. Ensure the pot and the inside of the appliance are completely dry and clean before using the appliance.

  25. Do not operate the appliance when the water exceeds the highest water level mark or when the water is below the lowest water level mark.

  26. Never use hard or sharpedged objects to work with the appliance or for cleaning. Use only the supplied rice spatula or other heat-resistant cooking utensils made of wood, rubber or plastic.

  27. Do not use vinegar for cooking to avoid discolouration of the pot.

  28. Never leave the appliance unattended when in use and do not operate without pot.

  29. Do not use other things to substitute the original pot, or it will cause danger.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  1. Ensure the rated voltage shown on the rating label corresponds with the voltage of the power supply.
  2. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or plug, when the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  3. Protect the power cord against damages. Do not let it hang over sharp edges, do not squeeze or bend it. Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces and ensure that nobody can trip over it.
  4. Do not open the housing under any circumstances. Do not insert fingers or foreign objects  inany opening of the appliance and do not obstruct the air vents.
  5. Protect the appliance against heat. Do not place close to open flames or heat sources such as stoves or heating appliances.

OPERATION

OPERATING STEPS
For steaming

  1. Fill food into the included steamer.
  2. Place the pot on a flat surface. Fill water at least up to the “2” mark on the “White Rice” scale in the pot.
  3. Place the pot and then the steamer in the appliance.
  4. Continue with step 7 below.

For other cooking programs

  1. Measure the food with the provided measuring cup (approx. 180ml). Ensure not to overfill or under-fill the cup.

  2. If you prepare rice: Wash the rice until the water is clear. Do not do this in the pot, but in another container.

  3. Place the pot on a flat surface.

  4. Add the food into the pot.

  5. Add water into the pot according to the amount of measured food. For example, if you want to cook 4 measuring cups of rice, fill water up to the “4” mark on the “White Rice” scale in the pot.

  6. Place the pot inside the appliance. Ensure that the bubble breaker is properly installed in the lid.

  7. Close the lid.

  8. Insert the coupling of the power cord into the power connector on the appliance. Then insert the power cord into an outlet.

  9. Press the FUNCTION button to select the desired program. The indicator next to the selected program lights up.

  10.  Press the START button to start the selected program. The Start indicator lights up.

  11. When selecting RICE, FAST COOK, MULTIGRAIN, a count down starts on the display 10 minutes before cooker is finished. When selecting MULTICOOK, a countdown starts on the display 15 minutes before cooking is finished.When selecting PORRIDGE and SOUP, the countdown starts directly when the START button is pressed. When selecting STEAM, the countdown starts when steam comes out.

  12. When cooking is finished, an acoustic signal sounds. Afterwards, the appliance switches to Keep warm mode automatically. The WARM indicator lights up.
    NOTE Do not keep food in the appliance warm for more than 12 hours to avoid bad odours and food spoilage.

  13. After use, press the WARM/OFF button to turn the appliance off. Disconnect the power plug from the power supply.

TIMER
You can preset a time (1 – 15 hours) after which the appliance should finish operation. It is not recommended to preset more than 13 hours (8 hours in summer) to prevent bad odours and food spoilage. The preset function cannot be used for program “CAKE”. The timer only works if the set time is longer than the default cooking time of the selected program. Otherwise, operation will start directly.

  1. Instead of pushing the START button after selecting the desired program, press the DELAY TIMER button. The timer indicator lights up.
  2. Adjust the amount of hours with the up and down buttons.
  3. Press the START button to start the timer.
  4. When the cooking process is started, the Start indicator lights up. The remaining cooking time is counted down on the display.

NOTE
If you want to correct an error during setting or cancel the timer after setting it, press the WARM/ OFF button.
AFTER USE
CLEANING
NOTE
Clean the appliance after each use to keep it in a safe and hygienic working condition.

  • Before cleaning, unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely. Remove foodstuff from the appliance afterwards, if necessary.
  • Do not clean the appliance with steel wool, sharp tools, strong chemicals, alkali, abrasive or disinfecting agents as they may damage its surface.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids to clean it. Make sure that the electrical parts do not become wet or damp.
  • Clean the body of the appliance and the control panel with a soft damp cloth and, if necessary, a little mild detergent. Wipe with a dry soft cloth.
  • Clean the steam outlet and the inside of the appliance with a soft damp cloth only. Wipe with a dry soft cloth.
  • The appliance may only be used again after it is dried completely.

STORAGE

  • Before storage, always make sure that the appliance is completely dry and cooled down.
  • Make sure that the lid of the appliance is closed.
  • Store the appliance in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and out of the reach of children.
  • Preferably store the appliance in its original packaging.

TROUBLESHOOTING

WARNING

  • In case of failures or malfunctions, always unplug the appliance immediately.
  • Only perform the steps described in this instruction manual! All further inspection, maintenance and repair work must be performed by an authorized service center or a similarly qualified specialist.
  • Should you require spare parts, always obtain them from an authorized seller. Do not use spare parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer!

In the following instances, contact an authorized service center or a similarly qualified specialist. Do not repair the appliance yourself!

  • The appliance shows error codes F1, F2, F3 or F4 on the display.
  • Accidental spilling of water or rice into the body of the appliance (without pot) during operation.
  • Appliance’s indicators turn off and the appliance is not heating anymore, although cooking process was not finished yet.
  • The bottom, side or top edge of the pot become uneven and the pot needs to be replaced.
  • Power cord or power plug deformed, discolored or damaged.
  • Part of the power cord or power plug is hotter than usual.
  • Power failure when power cord is moved.
  • Appliance becomes abnormally hot or smelly.
  • Abnormal noise or vibration during operation.

NOTES FOR DISPOSAL
Dispose of the appliance and packaging must be effected in accordance with the corresponding local regulations and requirements for electrical appliances and packaging. Please contact your local disposal company.
Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills, dumps, or refuse incineration, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater or can be emitted into air, thus getting into the food chain, and damaging your health and well-being as well as poisoning flora and fauna. When replacing old appliances with new once, the  endor is legally obligated to take back your old appliance for disposal at least for free of charge.

WARRANTY

We guarantee that all our products are free of defects at the time of purchase. Any demonstrable manufacturing or material defects will be to the exclusion of any further claim and within 2 years after purchasing the appliance free of charge repaired or substituted. There is no Warranty claim of the purchaser if the damage or defect of the appliance is caused by inappropriate treatment, over loading or installation mistakes. The Warranty claim expires if there is any technical interference of a third party without a written agreement. The purchaser has to present the sales slip in assertion- of-claim and has to bear all charges of costs and risk of the transport.

Please ensure packing the appliance ready for shipment without accessories. Add the sales slip and a short fault description. The processing time after receipt of the defective appliance will be approx. 2 weeks; we will inform you automatically. After the warranty period, please send defective appliances to the given address. You will get a free quotation and, thereafter, can decide, whether we shall repair the appliance to the costs possibly accrued, send back the defective appliance for free of charge, or dispose of the appliance for free of charge. The appliance is intended for household use only and NOT suited for commercial usage. Do not attempt to use this appliance in any other way or for any other purpose than the intended use, described in these instructions. Any other use is regarded as unintended use or misuse, and can cause severe injuries or damage. There is no warranty claim of the purchaser if any injuries or damages are caused by unintended use.
