HACK SC4500 Division 2 Safety Precautions

Specifications are subject to change without notice.
Certification| Listed for use in Class 1, Division 2, Group A, B, C, D, T4,
Zone 2, Group IIC1 hazardous locations to UL and CSA safety standards by ETL
(with appropriately rated Class 1, Division 2 or Zone 2 sensors)

Section 2 Precautions for hazardous location installation
DANGER
Only qualified personnel should conduct the installation tasks described in
this section of the manual. This equipment is suitable for use in Class 1,
Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D Hazardous Locations with specified sensors and
options appropriately certified and rated for Class I, Division 2, Group A, B,
C & D , Zone 2, Group IIC Hazardous Locations. Always refer to applicable
electrical code regulations for proper installation. Wiring methods must be in
accordance with National Electrical Code® (NEC®) ANSI/NFPA 70 or in the
Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CE Code, Part I) CSA C22.1.
Section 3 Wiring for power
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or
circuits to the equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
Section 4 Connecting alarms and relays
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or
circuits to the equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
Section 5 Connecting analog and digital outputs
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or
circuits to the equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Never connect any sensor or digital or analog module to a
SC4500 that is not clearly marked as certified for Class 1, Division 2
Hazardous Locations.
Section 6 Connecting digital sensors or Ethernet
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or
circuits to the equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Never connect any sensor or digital or analog module to a
SC4500 that is not clearly marked as certified for Class 1, Division 2
Hazardous Locations.
When a quick-connect fitting is used to attach a digital sensor or Ethernet to the controller, a connector safety lock must be installed.
- Attach the sensor connector to the plug on the controller.
- Align the connector safety lock over the connector.
- Squeeze the halves together to lock.
To remove the connector safety lock:
- Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver in the locking groove.
- Pivot the screwdriver away from the groove and separate the two halves.
Section 7 Connecting USB flash drives
WARNING
Explosion hazard. Do not use the USB connector in hazardous areas.
Section 8 Maintenance
DANGER
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or
circuits to the equipment unless power has been switched off or the area is
known to be non-hazardous.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard. Do not remove or replace the display board cover or the
battery unless power has been disconnected or the area is free of ignitable
concentrations.
