WHAT’S INSIDE

Pre-insulated PLASTI-GRIP solderless terminals and splices are designed specifically to answer the need for low-cost, insulated electrical terminations. They consist of a high conductivity copper body and color coded PVC insulation that can be used in almost all commercial applications. Carefully engineered Application Tooling has been designed in conjunction with the terminal to promote ease and speed of application. The wire and wire barrel together form a connection of high conductivity and tensile strength, while the tin plating provides good resistance to corrosion. The quality, performance, and ease of installation make them ideal for many industrial applications. Most PLASTI-GRIP products are UL and CSA approved, and are available in various tongue styles, stud sizes, and wire ranges from 22 AWG through 2/0.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS TOOLING
Can wires be combined in PLASTI-GRIP terminals?
Yes they can, as long total CMA and insulation diameter fall within specification.
Are TE PLASTI-GRIP terminals MIL specified?
No, PLASTI-GRIP terminals are not Military qualified;
Most PIDG and SOLISTRAND terminals are qualified to SAE AS7928.
What terminal should be used in applications above above 105 Celsius?
Use STRATO-THERM terminals (catalog 82011).
Why can PLASTI-GRIP terminals handle 600V and PIDG terminals just 300V?
There is no additional metallic sleeve to support the crimp (see picture).
Why is there no crimp height given for PLASTI-GRIP terminals?
It is the geometry of the TE crimping tools which guarantees the perfect crimp on PLASTI-GRIP terminals.
NOTE 1
SDE die sets can be used with the following powered tools:

  1. 1.75 Ton Battery Tools 2217480-1 or 2217480-2

  2. Pro-Crimper Adapter 679304-1 for the 626 Pneumatic Tool System

  3. AT-300 Bench Terminator with SDE Adapter 1673663-2

  4. AT-SC MK II Pneumatic Safety Crimping Machine 1-528050-0 with SDE Die Holder 2-525051-8

  5. The conical sleeve serves for easier conductor insertion.

  6. The coloured insulating sleeve facilitates assignment to the respective wire range and crimp tooling.

  7. Serrations inside the wire sleeve ensure high tensile strength and conductivity.

  8. The insulating sleeve protects and supports the wire after crimping. The widened insulating sleeve allows a large number of insulation diameters.
