Timing modes
TheTravelTimer features multiple timing modes. In each mode the flag will be shown when one of the players game time has reached 0:()().

  • Move Timer
When used in the”Move Timer” mode the game time will count down during each move and reset after the player’s button has been pressed.

  • Game Timer
When used in the”Game Timer”mode the selected time will be for the entirety of the match. Counting down the game time during a player’s turn, and pausing (but not resetting) the countdown after the players button has been pressed.

  • Delay
When the”De/af’mode is activated the clock will function as in “Game Timer” mode. But each turn the clock will first count down the specified delay time before counting down the main game time.

  • Bonus
When the”Bonus”mode is activated the clock will function as in “Game Timer” mode. The first bonus time will be added at the start of the count down. After each next turn the bonus time will be added after completion of a turn.

Chess960 position generator

In Chess 960 the games do not start from the traditional starting position but start from one of the 960 random starting positions. It requires players to start thinking about their moves right from the start thus bypassing any advantage a player may have from learned knowledge about particular chess openings. With the Chess 960 functionality of the clock a new random starting position for the chess pieces can be generated. The clock will show the generated positions using the symbols below. These symbols can also be found at the bottom of your clock.DGT-Travel-Timer-Chess-
Clock-3

After pressing the 960 button the dice symbol will start blinking. Pressing the+ or- key at this time will offer another random starting position.

While the dice are blinking, it is also possible to press the right arrow key so the number next to the dice is selected. Using the+ and -keys will now allow you to select a specific number. The clock will automatically show the starting position corresponding with that Chess960 number. It is also possible to use the arrow keys to select the chess piece digits. Using the+ and – keys will now allow you to select a specific piece. The clock will only allow you to select pieces that are valid on the selected position forChess960 (for example you must have a black squared and white squared bishop). After selecting a 960 position press the Play/Pause button to exit the 960 position generator.
