SAFETY

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  • WARNING! It is the user’s responsibility to check the following:
    Check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure that they are safe before using. Inspect power supply leads, plugs and all electrical connections for wear and damage. Sealey recommend that an RCD (Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical products. You may obtain an RCD by contacting your local Sealey stockist.

  • If the product is used in the course of business duties, it must be maintained in a safe condition and routinely PAT (Portable Appliance Test) tested.

  • Electrical safety information: it is important that the following information is read and understood.

  • Ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply.

  • Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all connections to ensure that they are secure.

  • Important: Ensure that the voltage rating on the appliance suits the power supply to be used and that the plug is fitted with the correct fuse – see fuse rating in these instructions.

  • DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the power cable.

  • DO NOT pull the plug from the socket by the cable.

  • DO NOT use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. Ensure that any faulty item is repaired or replaced immediately by a qualified electrician.

  • This product is fitted with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug.

  • If the cable or plug is damaged during use, switch the electricity supply and remove from use. Ensure that repairs are carried out by a qualified electrician.

  • Replace a damaged plug with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug. If in doubt contact a qualified electrician.

    • A) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earth terminal ‘E’.
    • B) Connect the BROWN live wire to the live terminal ‘L’.
    • C) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal ‘N’.
  • Ensure that the cable outer sheath extends inside the cable restraint and that the restraint is tight. Sealey recommend that repairs are carried out by a qualified electrician.

GENERAL SAFETY

  • WARNING! The charger must not be used in conjunction with an extension cord, timer or other accessory between wall outlet and charger.
  • WARNING! Modern vehicles contain extensive electronic systems. You are required to check with the vehicle manufacturer, for any specific instructions regarding the use of this type of equipment on each vehicle. No liability will be accepted for damage / injury, where this product is not used in accordance with all instructions.
  • DO NOT expose equipment to rain or moisture.
  • DO NOT use if the cables, sockets or unit are damaged.
  • DO NOT start using the equipment if the plugs, cables etc. are dirty or wet. Wipe clean with a dry cloth if necessary
  • DO NOT place the equipment in the car or a confined place when charging.
  • DO NOT expose the equipment to high temperatures.
  • DO NOT clean the equipment with chemical cleaners.
  • DO NOT use whilst under the influence of drugs, alcohol or intoxicating medication.
  • DO NOT pull or carry the unit by its cables.
  • DO NOT use this equipment to perform a task for which it is not designed.
  • The Electricity At Work Act 1989 requires all portable electrical appliances, if used on business premises, to be tested by a qualified person, using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT), at least once a year.
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of the appliance and the safety of the appliance operator. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.
  • Ensure that the insulation on all cables and the product itself is safe before connecting to the mains power supply.
  • Ensure that cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
  • Regularly inspect power supply, leads, plugs for wear and damage and power connections to ensure that none is loose.
  • Check product voltage is the same as power supply to be used
  • Store the unit in a safe dry environment out of the reach of children.
  • This product does not contain user-serviceable parts, please do not try to repair or maintain the product on your own.

INTRODUCTION

Portable mode 2 charger simply plugs into a standard UK 3-pin socket for easy charging. Delay timing function enables users to program delayed start time to benefit from off peak electricity tariffs. The intuitive LED offers users fault codes, charging time, power and temperature displays. Supplied with storage case.

OPERATION

CHARGING

  • NOTE: Sealey strongly recommend that an RCD (Residual Current Device) is used with this unit. You may obtain an RCD by contacting your local Sealey stockist.
  • Plug Charger power cable into suitable power supply.
  • Remove rubber protection cover from Charger unit cable and fully insert relevant Charging Cable. Connect cable to EV vehicle.
  • Turn the mains power on and the LED interface will light up (fig.1).
  • While the equipment is charging, the red light will be permanently on and the green light will flash (fig.2).
  • When charging finishes, Green light will flash, red light is off, disconnect the unit fig.2 from the power supply and disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle.

TIMER FUNCTION

  • With Charger powered up and disconnected from the EV vehicle, press the green button (fig.2) to set the delay time. One press equals one hour, up to a maximum delay of 10 hours.
  • After time delay is set, connect Charging Cable to charging port on EV vehicle.
  • When charging finishes, Green light will flash, red light is off, disconnect the unit from the power supply and disconnect the charging connector from the vehicle.

MAINTENANCE

  • Cleaning and user maintenance should be carried out by competent persons.
  • After use and before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect the battery charger.
  • Use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and other dirt or oil from the battery connectors, cords, and the charger case. Ensure that all of the charger components are in place and in good working condition.
  • Servicing does not require opening the unit, as there are no serviceable parts.
  • All other servicing should be performed by qualified service personnel.
  • If the mains cable is damaged, do not use until repaired.
  • Store in supplied storage case inside a cool, dry place.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycling center and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers and dispose of the product and fluids according to local regulations.

WEEE REGULATIONS

Dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). When the product is no longer required, it must be disposed of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid waste authority for recycling information.
