FRONT CROSSBAR SETUP

  1. REMOVE THE OUTER COVERS.
    Grasp the cover and pull straight out to remove it.

  2. REMOVE THE LOCKING COVERS
    Use a flat-head screwdriver to unlock the inner cover and remove it.

  3. LOOSEN THE CLAMP TENSIONING BOLTS.
    Using the torque wrench, completely loosen the clamp tensioning bolts.

  4. LOOSEN THE PITCH SCREWS.
    Using the torque wrench, loosen the pitch bolts 3 full turn
    LOOSEN THE PITCH SCREWS.

  5. SET YOUR M1 MEASUREMENT.
    With your crossbar on a workbench, use a tape measure to set the distance between the hash marks on your towers to the M1 measurement you wrote down on page 2. Make sure the bar is centered by measuring an equal distance from each hash mark to the center of the arrow.

  6. SET YOUR PITCH.
    Orient your crossbar on the workbench with the arrow on the center of the crossbar fD pointing away from you. Grasp the tower and rotate it to the P1 position you wrote down .
    on page 2. Using the torque wrench, tighten the pitch bolt completely until the torque wrench clicks to lock the tower into position. Repeat for the tower on the opposite end.
    SET YOUR PITCH
    IMPORTANT: Check the M1 you set in step 5 to be sure it’s still set to the correct measurement. If it’s not correct, repeat steps 5 and 6 until the M1 and P1 are both correctly set and the bar has been completely tightened.

  7. APPLY THE STICKER.
    Apply the front crossbar sticker to the front crossbar now.

REAR CROSSBAR SETUP

Repeat steps 1 through 7 to set up your rear crossbar but  in place of using the M1 and P1 measurements, use the M3 ( and P2 measurements you wrote down on page 2. For step 7 apply the rear crossbar sticker to the rear crossbar.

FRONT INNER CLIP INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL THE INNER CLIPS INTO THE TOWERS.
    Orient the foot as shown and press it firmly onto the tower until it clicks into place.
    Use your fingers to disengage the retaining wire from the holes.
    Move the retaining wire out to rest as shown.

    Refer to the clip numbers you wrote down on page 2. Identify and insert the Front Inner Clip with the stamped lettering facing toward the middle of the crossbar. Be sure the hooks engage with the holes in the clip as shown.
    NOTE: Your clip number may be different than shown here.
    Replace the retaining wire.

FRONT OUTER CLIP INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL THE OUTER CLIPS INTO THE TOWERS.
    Use your fingers to disengage the retaining wire from the holes.
    Move the retaining wire out to rest as shown.

    Refer to the clip numbers you wrote down on page 2. Identify and insert the Front Outer Clip with the stamped lettering facing away from the crossbar. Be sure the hook engages with the hole in the clip as shown.
    NOTE: Your clip number may be different than shown here.
    Replace the retaining wire.

REAR CLIP INSTALLATION

Install the rear crossbar clips as directed in the previous 2 steps, but in place of the Front Inner Clips and Front Outer Clips, use the Rear Inner Clips and Rear Outer Clips you identified and wrote down on page 2.

CROSSBAR INSTALLATION

  1. PLACE THE FRONT CROSSBAR.
    Carefully place your front crossbar. With the inner and outer clips of each tower straddling your rails, set the distance from the top corner of the windshield (where the paint ends) to the front edge of the towers to the M2 measurement you wrote down on page 2. While holding the clips tight to the rail as shown, use the torque wrench to tighten the clamp tensioning bolt on each tower completely.
    TIP: Use a towel to prevent any contact between the crossbar and your vehicle to avoid damaging the vehicle.

  2. PLACE THE REAR CROSSBAR.
    Carefully place your rear crossbar. With the inner and outer clips of each tower straddling your rails, set the distance from the rear edge of the front towers to the rear edge of the rear towers to the M4 measurement you wrote down on page 2. While holding the clips t ight to the rail as shown, use the torque wrench to tighten the clamp tensioning bolt on each tower completely.

  3. TEST THE INSTALLATION.
    Grasp the crossbar near each tower then push and pull it all directions to test that it’s properly attached.
    If it’s not secure, repeat Crossbar Installation steps 1 and 2 and recheck that the crossbars are secure.

  4. REINSTALL THE LOCKING COVERS.
    Replace each of the 4 locking covers and secure them by either turning the lock plug with a flathead screwdriver or by locking them with a key if you have installed lock cores.

  5. REINSTALL THE OUTER COVERS.
    Replace each of the outer covers.
    Be sure they are fully seated.

REMOVAL

  1. Remove the outer covers.
  2. Unlock the locking covers.
  3. Loosen the clamp tensioning bolts.
  4. Remove the crossbars.
  5. Store the crossbars in a safe place.

LONG LOADS
Any load extending over the windshield (except luggage boxes) must be secured to both the front and rear of the vehicle, in addition to the rack. Failure to do so can result in property damage, personal injury or death.

Rack Installation
Inadequately secured loads and incorrectly mounted roof racks and accessory racks can come loose during travel and cause serious accidents! Therefore, installation, handling and use must be carried out in accordance with product and vehicle instructions.
In addition to these instructions, review the mounting instructions for the roof rack and the operating instructions of the vehicle.
These instructions should be kept together with the vehicle’s operating instructions and carried in the vehicle when in use and en route.
For your own safety, you should only use roof racks that are authorized for use w ith your vehicle.
For roof racks that do not specify the distance betw een the front and rear crossbars, the distance shall be at least 700 mm or as large as possible. Please note that changes (e.g. additional drill holes) to the accessory rack’s attachment system are not permissible.
Check attachment hardware and load for tight fit and function : Before the start of any journey.
After driving a short distance following rack or load install. At regular intervals on longer journeys.
More frequently on rough terrain.
After interruption of a journey during which the vehicle was left unsupervised (check for damage due to outside intervention).
Rack Loading
Do not exceed the maximum load specified for the roof rack, accessory rack or the maximum load recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
Max Roof Load = weight of roof rack+ weight of accessory racks+ weight of load.
Load shall be uniformly distributed with the lowest possible center of gravity.
Load should not substantially extend beyond the loading surface of the roof rack.
Vehicle Driving and Regulations
The speed driven must be suited to the load transported and to official speed limits. In the absence of any speed limits, we recommend a maximum speed of 80 mph (130 km/ h).
When transporting any load, the speed of the vehicle must take into account all conditions such as the state of the road, the surface of the road, traffic conditions, wind, etc. Vehicle handling, cornering, braking and sensitivity to side w inds w ill change with the addition of roof top loads.
If this product is off-road certified, it is designed and intended to be used on forest service roads, access roads or other non-technical terrains at moderate speeds. It is not to be used while rock crawling,
jumping, bogging, or other technical off-road terrains. When using off-road certified products with non-off-road certified products, alw ays follow the w arnings and restrictions stated in the non-off-road certified product instructions.
Maintenance
The accessory rack should be carefully cleaned and maintained, particularly during the w inter months. Use only a solution of water and standard car w ash liquid w ithout any alcohol, bleach or ammonium additives.
For reasons of fuel economy and the safety of other road users, the accessory rack and roof rack should be removed when not in use. Periodically inspect accessory rack for damage. Replace lost, damaged or worn parts. Use only original spare parts obtained from a stocking specialist, dealer or manufacturer.
Any changes made to the roof racks and accessory racks as well as the use of spare parts or accessories other than those supplied by the manufacturer w ill lead to the lapsing of the manufacturer’s warranty and liability for any material damage or accidents. You should observe these instructions to the letter and only use the original parts supplied.
