Product Information

  • The product you have is the Epomaker Shadow-X. It is a keyboard that offers multiple connectivity options, including wired mode, 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 1, Bluetooth 2, and Bluetooth 3.

Product Usage Instructions

How to connect Shadow-X wirelessly

  1. Use the knob to toggle the mode:

    • Rotate the knob to the furthest point in both directions for wired mode.
    • To enable wireless mode, rotate the knob clockwise for 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 1, Bluetooth 2, or Bluetooth 3.
  2. Indicator LED:

    • The LED provides visual feedback during the connection process.
  3. Bluetooth:

    • Pairing a new device:
    1. Rotate the knob to set it to Bluetooth 1, Bluetooth 2, or Bluetooth 3.
    2. You will see the corresponding Bluetooth identifier (B1, B2, or B3) displayed on the screen.
    3. Press FN+Q (or FN+W, or FN+E) once, and the Indicator LED will blink slowly in red (or green, or blue).
    4. Press and hold FN+Q (or FN+W, or FN+E) for at least 5 seconds until the blink quickens and becomes rapid.
    5. Connect the device on your PC’s Bluetooth settings.
    • Connect to a paired device:
    1. Rotate the knob to the desired Bluetooth 1, Bluetooth 2, or Bluetooth 3.
    2. Press FN+Q (or FN+W, or FN+E) once, and when the Indicator LED
      blinks slowly in red (or green, or blue), you can connect the device on your PC’s Bluetooth settings.
  4. Tips:

    • Make sure the following matches:
    1. Knob at Bluetooth 1 = FN+Q = Indicator LED in red
    2. Knob at Bluetooth 2 = FN+W = Indicator LED in green
    3. Knob at Bluetooth 3 = FN+E = Indicator LED in blue
  5. Wireless 2.4GHz:

    • Pairing a new device:
    1. Rotate the knob to set it to 2.4GHz.
    2. You will see the wireless 2.4 icon highlighted in blue on your screen.
    3. Press FN+R once, and the Indicator LED will blink slowly in white.
    4. Press and hold FN+R for at least 5 seconds until the blink quickens and becomes rapid.
    5. Plug the wireless dongle into your computer.
    • Connect to a paired device:
    1. Rotate the knob to set it to 2.4GHz.
    2. You will see the wireless 2.4 icon highlighted in blue on your screen.
    3. Press FN+R once, and when the Indicator LED blinks slowly in white, plug the wireless dongle into your computer.

  • There’re three methods to adjust backlight: the EP software, the knob, or these FN shortcuts.
  • FN + Delete: Turn On/off Backlight
  • FN + |: Toggle RGB Effects
  • FN + ↓: Backlight Brightness –

How to connect Shadow-X wirelessly

  1. Use the knob to toggle the mode.
    • b ) The furthest you can rotate on both direction is for wired mode. And besides the two endpoint, you can rotate the knob clock wise for 2.4ghz wireless, Bluetooth 1, 2 and 3.

  3. Bluetooth:
    • a ) Pairing a new device:
    • i. Rotating the knob to set to Bluetooth 1 (2 or 3).
    • You will see B1 (B2 or B3) displayed on screen:
    • Pressing FN+Q (or W or E) once, and you will see the Indicator LED blink slowly in red (green or blue).
    • Pressing and holding FN+Q (or W or E) for at least 5 seconds until the blink quickens and gets rapidly.
    • Connect the device on your PC’s Bluetooth setting.
    • b) Connect to paired device:
    • Rotating the knob to one Bluetooth 1 (2 or 3).
    • Pressing FN+Q (or W or E) once, and when the Indicator LED blink slowly in red (green or blue), you can connect the device on your PC’s Bluetooth setting.
    • c) Tips:
    • Please make sure these is matched:
    • Knob at Bluetooth 1 = FN+Q = Indicator LED in red
    • Knob at Bluetooth 2 = FN+W = Indicator LED in green
    • Knob at Bluetooth 3 = FN+E = Indicator LED in blue
  4. Wireless 2.4ghz
  • a) Pairing a new device:
  • a ) Rotating the knob to set to 2.4ghz
  • You will see the wireless 2.4 icon highlighted in blue on your screen.
  • b) Pressing FN+R once, and you will see the Indicator LED blink slowly in white.
  • c ) Pressing and holding FN+R at least 5 seconds until the blink quickens and gets rapidly.
  • d ) Plug the wireless dongle to your computer.

  • b) Pressing FN+R once, and when the Indicator LED blink slowly in white, pluging the wireless dongle to your computer.

Screen UI and Interaction

Press and holding on FN+MENU to access “Display Menu” and only releasing these two keys when you have completed all setting.

  1. While holding FN+MENU, use left/right arrow keys (←/→) to browse on the main menu, and click on Enter to enter the sub-menu.
    a ) Main Menu: Backlight Effects, Backlight Color, Backlight Speed, and Backlight Brightness.

  2. Backlight Effects: (The effect currently enabled will be displayed as menu sub-page name, such as “Always on”)

  3. Keep holding FN+MENU and use left/right arrow keys (←/→) to browse saved light effects.

  4. When you have found the RGB effect you preferred, keep holding FN+MENU and press Enter once to confirm. Then, you should be back at Main Menu.

  5. At Main Menu, release your finger on FN+Menu, which will let keyboard exit Interaction in 3 seconds, or continue to use ←/→ to browse on Main Menu.

Backlight Color:

  1. Keep holding FN+MENU and use left/right arrow keys (←/→) to rotate between 7 default colors.
  2. When you have the color you preferred, keep holding FN+MENU and press Enter once to confirm. Then, you should be back at Main Menu,
  3. At Main Menu, release your finger on FN+Menu, which will let keyboard exit Interaction in 3 seconds, or continue to use ←/→ to browse on Main Menu.

Backlight Speed:

  1. Keep holding FN+MENU and use left/right arrow keys (←/→) to decrease/ increase speed.
  2. When you are satisfied with the speed, keep holding FN+MENU and press Enter once to confirm. Then, you should be back at Main Menu,
  3. At Main Menu, release your finger on FN+Menu, which will let keyboard exit Interaction in 3 seconds, or continue to use ←/→ to browse on Main Menu.

Backlight Brightness:

  1. Keep holding FN+MENU and use left/right arrow keys (←/→) to decrease/ increase brightness.
  2. When you are satisfied with the brightness, keep holding FN+MENU and press Enter once to confirm. Then, you should be back at Main Menu,
  3. At Main Menu, release your finger on FN+Menu, which will let keyboard exit Interaction in 3 seconds, or continue to use ←/→ to browse on Main Menu.

How to Upload gif and photo

  1. Preparation:
    • a) Wired mode: Connect your Shadow-X to your computer with a cable and rotate the knob to one of the endpoints for wired mode.
    • b) Run the Epomaker Software/driver as administrator. (Click here to download)
  2. Upload Gif: EP Software > Sketchpad > SketchpadEPOMAKER-Shadow-X-Gasket-Mechanical-Keyboard-FIG-9
  • Click select picture and browse the gifs you have on your PC.
  • Adjust Gif’s Delay: higher the number, slower the gif.
  • Preview and check the Gif
  • Click “Upload gif”, make sure you don’t use the keyboard or computer while gif is uploading. When uploading is finished, you should find the gif saved on keyboard’s screen display page 7 (click here for more on screen display).

Create Sketch and animation: EP Software > Sketchpad > Sketchpad

  • a) Tools:
  • RGB or Black white
  • Paint or erase
  • Colors
  • b) The buttons framed in yellow can be used to add more frames for animation.

How to toggle different gifs/photos once they are saved on your keyboard

  1. Use FN+PGDN to toggle on which page to display, and there’s up to 7 pages available
    • Information page:
    • The above example shows that the keyboard is in WIN mode and layer 1, with caps lock disabled. The keyboard is connected in Bluetooth 1, and there’s 90% power left.
  2. LOGO page:

How to use Epomaker Software

  1. To remap keys:

    • c) Use FN+Z/X/C to toggle between the 3 layouts. And you can check out which key layout you have activated with the screen.
    • The example at left shows keyboard is in key layout 1.

How to Sync the time displayed on screen

  1. Preparation
    • a ) Wired mode: Connect your Shadow-X to your computer with a cable and rotate the knob to one of the endpoints for wired mode.
