Product Information

The VideoMicTM is a broadcast microphone designed for use with cameras. It comes with a foam windshield, camera shoe mount, battery cover, and a PAD switch inside the battery compartment. The microphone features mic controls including an LED power indicator, a High Pass Filter (HPF) for removing low frequency noise, and a battery OFF Mic mute function. The VideoMicTM also comes with a ten-year warranty.

Mic Controls:

  • 80Hz – High Pass Filter setting to remove low frequency noise
  • Mic ON using High Pass Filter
  • Mic ON Flat setting
  • Battery OFF Mic mute

The VideoMicTM can be mounted on a camera using the camera shoe mount. The mounting process involves turning the tightening ring counterclockwise to loosen the camera shoe connection, sliding the camera-shoe into place on the camera mount, and securing it by gently tightening the ring clockwise. The VideoMicTM’s audio lead should be connected to the camera’s Audio In or Mic socket, and the cable can be secured using the in-built cable clips.
To secure the cable and eliminate undesired noise caused by cable movement, follow these steps:

Securing the Cable:

For cameras with mic socket on the left (see diagram 1):

  1. Push the cable in from the bottom.

For cameras with mic socket on the right (see diagram 2):

  1. Push the cable in from the bottom.

The VideoMicTM uses a standard 9V battery, which should be inserted with the positive (+) end upwards. A good quality Alkaline or Lithium battery can power the VideoMicTM for up to 100 continuous hours. It is recommended to remove the battery if storing the VideoMicTM for extended periods without use. The LED power indicator next to the On/Off switch will turn red when the battery is running low, indicating approximately one hour of remaining operation with reduced performance.
The VideoMicTM also features a three-position PAD switch, located inside the battery compartment, which provides a selectable 10 or 20dB reduction of the input sensitivity. This allows for optimal level adjustment when recording loud sound sources in
various situations.
