INTRODUCTION

Thank you for choosing the Galaxy Audio Line Array. For updates on all of our products and owners manuals, please visit www.galaxyaudio.com.

Line Array speakers are gaining popularity in both portable and permanently installed PA systems, due to their unique shape and sound dispersion characteristics. By arranging multiple drivers in a vertical line, a line array speaker produces a very focused and predictable coverage pattern. Our Line Array series speakers produce a wide horizontal dispersion, providing good coverage for a large audience. The vertical dispersion is very narrow, which improves clarity by keeping the sound from bouncing off of floors and ceilings. Line arrays are an excellent choice for taming a highly reverberant room, such as a church or large arena. Our LA4 speakers feature a lightweight attractive cabinet, pole or permanent mounting options, and are available in powered or unpowered versions. This user’s guide covers the following powered versions of the Galaxy Audio Line Array speakers:

LA4D: Powered, 100 Watt, Pole Mount.

LA4DPM: Powered, 100 Watt, Permanent Mount

  • Attempt to make any repairs (call Galaxy Audio for service). Failure to do so may void your warranty.

About the LA4D & LA4DPM

The LA4D and LA4DPM is a powered Line Array speaker with an internal 100 watt amplifier, accepts mic or line level with its XLR, 1/4″, or 1/8″ input, and has an internal universal power supply. That means this unit can be used anywhere in the world* as it will function on 100-240 VAC (volts AC) at 50/60Hz. The LA4D features an integrated handle and pole mount socket on the bottom of the cabinet that fits a standard 1-3/8″ speaker stand. This makes the LA4D a good choice for portable PA applications. The LA4DPM is designed for permanent installation with built-in mounting points. Self contained and with a small footprint, the LA4DPM is the perfect solution for hassle free PA installations, even in acoustically challenging rooms.

USING THE LA4D & LA4DPM

  • A Balanced Mic signal may be plugged into the XLR Jack. For strong signals the 20 dB pad switch may be engaged to prevent distortion.
  • A Balanced or Unbalanced Line level signal may be plugged into the 1/4″ Line Input.
  • A computer, MP3 player, or similar stereo or mono 1 /8″ source may be plugged into the 1/8″ Line Input.
  • The back panel also features a Level Control, 2-band EQ consisting of Low and High controls as well as Power, Compressor and Signal Presence indicators.
  • The LA4D may be placed on a speaker stand.
  • The LA4DPM may be installed on a wall by using the yoke bracket. (See page 6)

CONTROLS/INDICATORS & THEIR OPERATION

STAND MOUNTING THE LA4D

The LA4D integrated handle makes carrying and lifting the easier. The pole mount socket on the bottom of the cabinet fits a standard 1-3/8″ speaker stand. For more stand stability, it is advised to use a water or sand bag for counter-weight*. After setting up a stand/water bag and adjusting the speaker stand to the appropriate height, carefully lift the LA4D above the stand so that the socket aligns with the pole, and lower until it comes to a stop.

Galaxy Audio offers “life saver” & “saddle bag” style sand/water bags.

INSTALLING THE LA4DPM ON A WALL/CEILING

This Galaxy Audio Yoke Bracket is used for permanently mounting LA4DPM speaker cabinets to walls or ceilings. The mounting angle can be selected by choosing the appropriate screw holes in the yoke. These brackets should be used only on a secure and stable surface.

Bracket Kit Includes:

  • Yoke Bracket
  • Four 1/4″-20 Screws
  • Four Rubber Washers Four Flat Washers
  1. Precautions:
Whenever an object is affixed to a wall or ceiling, you must take special care to mount it securely to prevent it from falling and causing damage or injury.

  2. Mounting Surfaces:
Carefully examine the composition, construction and strength of the surface you are mounting to. Be sure to provide adequate reinforcement should you deem it necessary. You must also consider what type of hardware and what types of mounting techniques are appropriate for each mounting surface.

  3. Fasteners:
Attaching the bracket requires fasteners selected for the strength and composition of the mounting surfaces involved. Whatever fastener is selected, it should be no smaller than a 1/4″ screw or bolt. When drilling pilot holes be sure that the holes are smaller than the core diameter of the screw. Always use fasteners in all mounting holes and avoid over tightening, as this can weaken the mounting surface, damage the fasteners, and make the installation much less secure.

For step by step instructions on how to mount the yoke bracket, and install the speaker to a wall or ceiling surface, please refer to the bracket instructions on line at:https://www.galaxyaudio.com/assets/uploads/product- files/LA4DYokeBrktlnst.pdf
