Steinberg SpectraLayers One Advanced Spectral Audio Editor

Product Information

The product is SpectraLayers One version 10.0.0. SpectraLayers One is a powerful audio editing software that allows users to perform spectral editing on audio files. It provides tools for analyzing and manipulating sound in the frequency domain, giving users the ability to visualize and edit specific frequencies within an audio file. The software utilizes spectral data instead of raw audio data, enabling users to apply processes and tools that are specifically designed for spectral analysis.
SpectraLayers One features a layer system similar to tracks in a digital audio workstation (DAW). This layer system allows users to refine their work extensively in a nondestructive manner, thanks to transfer operations and the additive and subtractive nature of layer mixing. The software also offers a range of processes and tools that can be applied to selected time and frequency areas, providing users with precise control over their editing workflow.

The software requires specific system requirements depending on the operating system:

  • Windows: [System Requirements for Windows]
  • macOS: [System Requirements for macOS]

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Launch SpectraLayers One.
  2. To access the tools, open an existing audio file or create a new project by clicking File > Open and selecting an audio file.
  3. Once the file is opened, it will be displayed and highlighted in the Layers panel located in the bottom-right corner of the workspace.
  4. The tools will now be available on the left side of the workspace.
  5. The spectral display is located in the center of the screen. The horizontal axis represents time, while the vertical axis represents frequency.
  6. The spots visible in the spectral display correspond to a mix of frequencies and noise within the audio file. Higher spots indicate higher tones.
  7. To analyze and edit specific frequencies, use the processes and tools provided by SpectraLayers One:
    • Select an area in the spectral display to apply a process. The process will be applied only to the chosen range of frequencies.
    • Experiment with different processes and adjust the amplitude settings to reveal small peak details in the spectral view.
    • Use the tools, which work similarly to paint applications, to work on specific frequencies by clicking and manipulating them at the mouse position.

By following these usage instructions, users can effectively utilize SpectraLayers One for spectral editing and achieve precise control over their audio editing workflow.
