Licensing and installation instructions
After purchasing software from Thomann, you’ll receive either an e-mail with your activation code, or the software in a box which includes a small card with the activation code, depending on the software you bought. In both cases you can redeem the activation code on the manufacturer’s website. You’ll download your software directly from the manufacturer, too.
Step 01
Activate customer account If you do not yet have a customer account with the manufacturer, please create a “Steinberg ID” using this link: https://signin.steinberg.net/
You will then be sent a numerical code to the e-mail address you have
indicated. Please use this code in the following step:
You have now created your own Steinberg customer account and can access
various menus.
Step 02
Activation code
The second entry from the top is “Products” Here you can enter the activation
code we have sent you in “Redeem Download Access Code”.
Step 03
Downloading the software
You can download the installation programme for your new software at “Download
Software” here:

Select the software you have purchased in the drop-down menu. In this example,
Cubase Version 12 has been selected.
With Cubase, various versions are available. For example, if you have purchased a Steinberg audio interface, you’ll receive Cubase AI” free with your purchase.
If you have gone for one of the larger retail versions, i.e. Elements, Artist or Pro, click on the appropriate button.
Please note: since 2022, Steinberg has been using a new copy protection programme for newly released software.
Should you wish to install an older version of a Steinberg programme, we can
provide you with instructions on the necessary steps.

Steinberg Activation Manager
For software versions released from 2022 on, please first download and install
the “Steinberg Activation Manager”.
In case of Cubase, please add the “Steinberg Library manager” immediately
.
Even if you decide not to install ny Cubase virtual instruments, you’ll still
need to install this programme on your computer.
Then, download your Cubase version and (if desired) the associated software
instruments and install them.
Please note: Should you not have installed the Steinberg copy protection
software first, the installation will terminate with an error message.

Step 04
Activation Once you have installed your Steinberg programme, you’ll be prompted on first launch to log in to your customer account on the Steinberg website. You’ll be automatically taken there by clicking “Register”
Your browser may launch a security message. Please allow your computer to
launch the licensing software.
Then the version of the Steinberg programme installed on your computer will be
activated.
This procedure is only necessary the very first time you launch the software.
Afterwards, the programme will launch automatically, and you don’t even have
to be connected to the internet.

deactivate it if desired).
