BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding. Accessory parts may be contained within the packaging material. Wash kettle cover, stir rod, door, kernel catcher, screen, popcorn scoop, and measuring cup and spoon in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Use a soapy dishcloth to wipe the interior of the cabinet, then rinse with a damp, non-soapy cloth and dry thoroughly. Wash the interior of the kettle with a damp, soapy washcloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the kettle in water and do not get water on the black electrical box or cord.

USING YOUR THEATER POPCORN MACHINE

  1. With the handle facing down, lift the cover to the ceiling of the popper, threading the post in the ceiling through the hole in the cover. The magnets will hold the cover-up. Screw the stir rod clockwise into the post in the ceiling of the popper.

  2. Hold the kettle vertically and press it against the kettle holder while placing the hooks over the bar to hang the kettle on the kettle hook. Lift the kettle so that it rests on the kettle release tab. Place the kernel catcher in the indent in the bottom of the cabinet floor, then place the screen on top. Plug the cord from the kettle into the outlet in the ceiling of the popper. DO NOT plug the kettle directly into a wall outlet. Install the tilt door, then the cabinet door.

  3. Using the measuring spoon and cup provided, place two spoonfuls (2 tbsp.) of oil into the kettle followed by one to two cupfuls (¼ to ½ cup) of popcorn kernels, then bring down the kettle cover. Note: DO NOT attempt to pop more than two measuring cupfuls (½ cup) of popcorn at one time and DO NOT use more than two measuring spoonfuls (2 tbsp.) of oil when popping as damage to the kettle may occur.

  4. Plug the cord from the cabinet into a 120 v, AC outlet ONLY. Close the cabinet door then turn the “ON/OFF” switch to “ I ” (on). The stir rod will spin, and the kettle will begin heating.

  5. After about 3 minutes, popcorn will begin to pop, and eventually overflow into the cabinet. Continue until there is a pause of 2-3 seconds between pops. Turn “ON/OFF” switch to “ O ” (off). Press down on the kettle release tab on the right of the cabinet. This will cause the kettle to drop, releasing the remaining popcorn.

  6. Before serving popcorn, or if popping additional batches, use the scoop to remove any popcorn remaining in the kettle, then use the handle to raise the kettle back onto the kettle release tab. Do not let the kettle rest on the popped popcorn. CAUTION: The kettle is hot! Empty the popcorn from the cabinet immediately if you plan to pop more popcorn.

  7. If popping additional batches of popcorn, add oil and kernels to the kettle, then press the “ON/OFF” switch back to “ I ” (on). Repeat steps 3 – 6 as necessary. The cabinet must always be emptied between batches.
If not popping more corn, unplug the cabinet from the wall outlet and let cool completely. DO NOT attempt to unplug the kettle cord while the appliance is hot.

  8. A small amount of smoke and/or odor may occur upon heating due to the release of manufacturing oils – this is normal.

  9. Some minor expansion/contraction sounds may occur during heating and cooling – this is normal.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Always use fresh popcorn. Dried-out, stale, or old popcorn pops poorly as it has lost its moisture content and may scorch.
  • Store popcorn in airtight containers made of glass or plastic to avoid moisture loss in the kernels. Be sure that the container is stored in a cool place, do not store in the refrigerator. Most refrigerators contain little moisture and can dry out kernels, resulting in poor popping.
  • Average Yield of Popped Corn
    | Amount of Corn| Qts. / Cups Popped Corn
    ---|---|---
    2 Oz.| ¼ cup| 2   /  8
    | ⅓ cup| 3  /  12
    4 Oz.| ½ cup| 4  /  16
  • If popcorn does not pop, it is usually the result of environmental factors such as the freshness and moisture content of the popcorn, or variances by popcorn type. Unpopped kernels do not necessarily indicate a defect in the appliance.
  • Over time, salt and oil can abrade and make the cabinet walls look unattractive. It is important to thoroughly clean and dry the cabinet after every use.
  • If your popper is not heating, check that the cord from the kettle is plugged into the outlet at the top of the cabinet.
  • Burning at the bottom of your kettle is due to oil build-up. In addition to cleaning after every use, we also recommend cleaning periodically with a non-abrasive cleanser and scrubber.
  • While we recommend using regular white or yellow popcorn, this popcorn machine can also accommodate gourmet and organic popcorn. However, gourmet and organic popcorn may not yield results as good as regular popcorn; you may notice an increase in the number of unpopped kernels.
  • Instead of popping with vegetable oil, try one of these healthy choices: extra virgin olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, corn oil, peanut oil, or sunflower oil. Specialty oils may also be used, but some experimentation may be necessary to find the best-popping results and flavor you prefer. Do not use more than 2 tablespoons of any oil.

CLEANING YOUR THEATER POPCORN MACHINE

  1. Let the popper cool completely before cleaning. Unplug the cabinet cord from the wall outlet. Remove the popping kettle from the cabinet and discard any unpopped kernels. Use a soapy dishcloth or non-abrasive scrubber to wash inside the kettle then rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the kettle in water. Remove the stir rod and kettle cover from the cabinet. Wash the stir rod, kettle cover, measuring cup and spoon, popcorn scoop, screen, and kernel catcher in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  2. Wipe the interior of the popper cabinet with a damp, soapy cloth to remove any residues. Rinse with a damp, soap-free cloth and dry thoroughly. If desired, remove the doors and wash in warm, soapy water. This appliance has no user-serviceable parts.

Here are some recipes and ideas to get you started, but really, once you start, your imagination can take over. When you’re done popping, start layering flavors. We find a light misting of olive oil, (many great infused olive oils are also available) lemon or lime juice, balsamic vinegar, or even water will help any additional seasonings adhere to the corn. Try mixing and matching any of these for a healthy snack:

  • Nutritional Yeast (great nutty flavor)

  • Chili powder
  • Cumin
