Home Prep
Before you start cleaning, remove any obstacles from the area.
- Before using your robot near an area rug or on a short-pile area rug with tasseled edges, please fold the edges of the area rug under themselves.
- Remove excess clutter from floors before cleaning.
- Do not use your robot on surfaces with standing water. If water has got into your robot, it must be repaired by iRobot in order to avoid a hazard.
Cleaning
- To ensure the best performance, it is recommended to keep the water tank attached to the robot during cleaning jobs, even when mopping is not desired.
- When starting a cleaning job, the status indicator lights will blink to indicate the cleaning navigation selected. When straight-line cleaning navigation is selected, the status indicator lights will blink from left to right. When reactive cleaning navigation is selected, the status indicator lights will blink simultaneously.
- The CLEAN button on the robot stops glowing after the robot is paused for more than 10 minutes. Press the CLEAN button on the robot to wake up the robot.
- Your robot will return to the charging station at the end of a cleaning job or whenever it needs to recharge.
Spot Clean
Your robot has a spot clean mode that can be accessed through the iRobot Home
App. This is applicable for an area of highly concentrated dirt or dust. In
spot clean mode, your robot will spiral outward about 2 feet (0.6 meter) and
then spiral inward to end where it started.
Cleaning Navigation Selection
Your robot has two cleaning patterns to choose from to effectively clean
different floor types. The cleaning pattern can be switched by tapping the
CLEAN button twice or through the iRobot Home App.
Straight-Line Cleaning Navigation
is the robot’s default pattern and should be set when cleaning bare floors.
The robot plans the most efficient route, cleans in a back and forth straight-
line pattern, returns to clean missed spots, then cleans room edges before
completing the cleaning cycle.
If the mopping pad plate and mopping pad are attached, your robot will
automatically use this pattern.
Reactive Cleaning Navigation
should be set when cleaning carpet. Your robot cleans in a straight-lined,
random pattern and changes direction when it encounters an obstacle.
When straight-line cleaning navigation is set:
-
Your robot automatically conducts route planning when cleaning. If your robot is paused during cleaning, it will reconfigure the route and restart.
-
Your robot may pause temporarily to recalculate its cleaning
path. This is normal. The frequency and duration of the pause is determined by room complexity. -
If the cleaning area contains both bare floors and carpet, barriers (e.g. a closed door) should be set between different floor types and cleaning navigation patterns should be set accordingly. If both floor types are to be cleaned in one cleaning cycle, reactive cleaning navigation should be set.
Mopping System
Your robot has an optional mopping system using a washable microfibre cleaning pad and cleaning pad plate attached to a proprietary tank. The washable cleaning pad automatically damp mops the floor.
- Residual water may be present in the tank as a result of quality testing.
- Empty the tank and remove the cleaning pad plate before cleaning on carpet. Be sure to replace the empty tank.
- When using the mopping system, fold area rug edges under themselves so your robot will avoid the rug.
- After your robot finishes mopping, empty any remaining water from the tank and replace the tank.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank and remove the cleaning pad plate before charging your robot.
- If wetter mopping is desired, wet the cleaning pad before attaching the pad to the cleaning pad plate.
Note: When the robot is operating with the mopping attachment, only the straight-line cleaning navigation will be available.
Cleaning Solution
When mopping, you may add Braava jet® Hard Floor Cleaning Solution to the tank
before adding water. This product is a concentrate.
Important: Please visit the Help section in the iRobot Home App for a list of cleaning solutions that can be safely used and won’t risk damage to your robot.
