Streamlight battery or designated primary batteries. See the product markings
for the specific battery required for your light.
For transport or storage, place a protective cap or tape over recessed battery
contacts.
CHARGER AND CHARGE CORD SAFETY
- Don’t abuse the cord. Never carry charger by cord or pull it to disconnect from a receptacle.
- Do not use a damaged charger. Replace damaged cords or plugs immediately.
- Plug AC charger directly into an electrical outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
- Remove light from charger before attempting any routine cleaning or maintenance.
- Do not try to repair the unit or cord. Return to a qualified service facility or to the factory.
- Do not put any metal objects on to the charging terminals located in the charger holder.
- Do not charge in potentially hazardous locations.
USING THE LIGHT
- The switch is located on the top of the light.
- Depress the switch momentarily to turn the light on or off.
- When the flashlight is on, depress and hold the switch for one second to dim or two seconds to acti-vate the flash mode. An additional press of the switch from any of these modes will turn the light off
. BATTERY STATUS INDICATOR
The switch boot contains an integrated red/green battery status indicator.
- Solid green for 5 seconds: Battery is ready for use.
- Solid red: 45 minutes or less of battery life remaining.
- Flashing red: 15 minutes or less of battery life remaining.
OPTIONAL SMOKE CUTTER® OPTIC PLUG
Optional optic plugs allow the user to customize the beam pattern.
To use either plug:
- Unscrew and remove the facecap from the flashlight body.
- Select a Smoke Cutter® optic plug, grasp it using the molded center rib, and place it into the opening at the center of the optic device without touching the optic.
- Replace and tighten the facecap.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT AND CHARGING
The Survivor® X can be powered using the rechargeable battery pack or the
battery carrier. The battery carrier will accommodate (3) AA batteries or (1)
Streamlight SL-B26® rechargeable battery. Battery is accessible through the
door on the bottom of the light. The battery door will only close if the
battery pack or carrier is inserted with the proper orientation. Do not force
the battery door closed.
Do not mix old and new batteries, types, or brands. Refer to the safety
section for battery safety information.
NOTICE The rechargeable batteries for this product are recyclable. At the
end of its useful life, under various country and state laws, it may be
illegal to dispose of this battery in the municipal solid waste stream. Check
with your local solid waste officials for details in your area for recycling
options or proper disposal (In USA: RBRC).
Alkaline or Lithium AA
Remove the battery carrier from the light. Use fresh replacement cells and
observe the polarity indicated on the carrier.
SL-B26® Lithium-Ion Battery
NOTICE
Remove the battery carrier from the light and the SL-B26® from the carrier.
Plug the micro-USB connector into the USB port on the SL-B26® battery and plug
the other end of the cord into a power source. The SL-B26® has built-in
red/green charge indicators on the top surface and will take approximately 5
hours to charge through a micro-USB. Once fully charged, insert into the
battery carrier with the spring side to negative. The SL-B26® battery can also
be charged using the Streamlight 2-unit Li-Ion USB Battery Charger or the
Streamlight 8-unit Li-Ion Battery Bank Charger. Do not use other 18650 cells
in this product.
Note: The SL-B26® will not charge while installed in the flashlight.
Rechargeable Battery Pack
NOTICE
The Survivor® X with a rechargeable battery pack is designed to be stored in
the charger to ensure that the light is always ready for use. Optimal battery
life can be achieved if the battery is charged in moderate temperatures
between 32°F and 110°F. If the Survivor® X has been in freezing conditions,
allow the light to warm up for about a half hour before placing it in the
charger.
CHARGER
Connect the power cable, noting polarity orientation of the plug. To charge,
depress the charger retaining handle and push the base of the flashlight into
the charger with the door latch facing out.
A red LED on the charger indicates that the battery is being charged. The red
LED turns to green indicating a full charge. The charger will draw up to 550mA
for 5 hours when charging the Survivor® X or 175mA for up to 13 hours for
legacy models. During maintenance charge, current is pulsing and effectively
draws .02 amps.
Mounting the Charger
Before drilling any holes, make sure there is room to insert and remove the
Survivor® X. Four (4) self-tapping 1 1/4” #8 screws are included with each
mounting rack and should be sufficient for most mounting situations. Should
your mounting situation require heavier hardware, use #8 machine screws.
Vehicle Charging
battery can easily start a fire. Make all connections with type-approved
connectors intended for such service. Be sure that your installation is fused.
A 12VDC power cord (#22051) is equipped with a cigarette plug and is available
for mounting a Streamlight charger in a vehicle. The plug can be removed, and
the wires can be attached directly to a power source for a more permanent
installation. A two-amp fuse must be used on the positive lead if connected
directly to a power source.
The striped power lead is positive, and the unmarked lead is negative. When
connecting the charger to a fuse block the striped, positive power lead goes
to the connector that is dead when the vehicle’s fuse is removed. The charger
body is electrically isolated from the charge circuit and allows positive
ground installations. The charger is diode protected and if connected in
reverse polarity simply won’t operate until connected properly.
Streamlight recommends connecting chargers to an unswitched source of power to
ensure the flashlight is always fully charged. If the vehicle will not be
driven for several days, the flashlight should be removed from the charger to
avoid vehicle battery drain.
The chassis on most vehicles is negative ground. In this case, the charger’s
striped lead should
be connected to the output side of the fuse. The unmarked negative lead should
be connected to the chassis. If the chassis of the vehicle is positive ground,
the striped lead of the charger should connect to the chassis and the unmarked
lead should go to the output side of the fuse.
