wheel covers is required at all times. Visit
www.globebikes.com for more information.
WARNING! The Globe passenger handlebar should be used only with the
appropriate passenger seat, footrests, and wheel covers. Failure to follow
this warning may result in serious personal injury or even death to the
passenger and/ or rider.
Assembly Instructions
The passenger handlebar is mounted to the rear rack on your Globe bicycle.
The following instructions guide you through assembling the passenger
handlebar safely to your bicycle.
-
Insert and rotate two T-nuts (B) into each side of the rack rail.
-
The optional T-nut fixing screws (C) may be installed to keep
**** T-nuts from sliding during assembly or keep the T-nuts in the correct location after removing your accessory.
The fixing screws are intended to make removing and reinstalling the bar faster and easier and do not add strength. -
Align the T-nuts with the holes on the passenger handlebar base.
-
With all 4 T-nuts in position, place the passenger handlebar on the top of the rack and insert the 14 mm bolts (D) with washers (E) through the passenger handlebar holes and into the
T-nuts (B). Keep all bolts loose so the bar can slide forward and backward to the desired location. -
Once the ideal location of the passenger handlebar is found, use the small torque wrench and 4 mm hex bit to torque the bolts to 6.2 Nm / 55 in-lbf.
**** The rack is symmetrically designed with no front or back and can be installed in either direction.
Safety Information
WARNING: The Globe passenger handlebar provides a stable place for
passengers to hold and is not intended or designed to be used as a backrest.
WARNING! The Globe passenger handlebar is intended for use on Globe
bicycles only.
When using the passenger handlebar with the passenger seat pad, position the
seat pad first, then position the passenger handlebar as close to the front of
the seat pad as possible.
WARNING! Before your first ride and regularly thereafter, ensure the
passenger handlebar bolts are tightened to specification.
** WARNING: The area where you ride may require specific safety devices. It
is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the area where
you ride and to comply with all applicable laws, including properly equipping
yourself, your passengers, and your bicycle as the law requires.
WARNING: You and your passenger must always wear a cycling helmet that
meets the latest certification standards and is appropriate for the type of
riding you do. Most serious bicycle injuries involve head injuries that might
have been avoided if the rider had worn an appropriate helmet.
WARNING!** Riding with passenger on your bicycle affects the handling by
altering the center of gravity, weight, and balance. It may also negatively
impact your cornering ability, increase your necessary stopping distance, and
reduce your ability to slow down and maneuver, especially at higher speeds or
down a steep grade. All of this can result in a loss of control, potentially
causing serious injury and/or death. You should also become familiar with and
practice riding with the passenger in a controlled environment away from
traffic.
