IPK-1 Single Gang IP Keypad

Thank you for your purchase of the IPK-1 keypad.

The IPK-1 is designed to provide easy access and convenient control to a room or zone using any of the following Russound audio systems:
MCA-66: MBX-PRE
MCA-88: MBX-AMP
The IPK-1 uses a wired Ethernet connection to connect to the same network as your Russound audio system. It is PoE powered so a single Ethernet cable is the only connection that needs to be made to the IPK-1.
Configuration is simple and the only step needed is to associate or “pair” the IPK-1 with the room or zone that it will be controlling. This is done through Russound’s web config configuration tool on your Russound audio device.
Once paired, the buttons on the IPK-1 will control the most commonly needed audio commands as well as give you immediate access to volume control.
While the Russound audio systems can be controlled by an app, many users prefer having a dedicated keypad that is always available without having to pull out their phone, navigate to the Russound app, and then navigate to the room they want to control.
The IPK-1 is designed to intuitively control your system without interfering with your lifestyle. For example, the volume LEDs only illuminate when the volume is adjusted. The status LED is designed to turn off when your audio system is not in use so that the LED will never light up a dark bedroom at night.

Installation

  1. Insert the CATS PoE cable that is connected to the same network as your Russound system into the rear of the IPK-1. The IPK-1 will power on and automatically look for
and install any available firmware updates. When ready for configuration, the status LED will blink yellow.
  1. Using the supplied screws, attach the IPK-1 securely to the wall box or P-ring. Attach the appropriate Decora® wall-plate to the front of the IPK-1. The wall plate is NOT included and must be purchased separately. Russound

  1. Pair your IPK-1 with the appropriate Russound audio zone that it will be controlling. Pairing is initiated from the Russound audio product’s Web Config configuration hosted webpage. To pair an IPK-1 in the Kitchen with the Kitchen zone of your Russound audio system, go to the Kitchen’s Zone Setup section of Web Config, then go to the Keypad Pairing section and select “Start”. On MCA-Series devices, go to the Zone Setup section and then select “Edit” to get to the Pairing option.
This will send a signal to all connected IPK-1 keypads on the network to enter their Pairing Mode. Go to the IPK-1 in the Kitchen and press and hold Favorite 1 and Favorite 2 simultaneously for 2 seconds or until the status LED blinks twice. The Kitchen’s IPK-1 is now paired with the Kitchen Zone of your Russound system and is ready for use.

Color Change
The IPK-1 comes with both white and black buttons and decora inserts. To change the color, start with the IPK-1 removed from the wall and use a small. flat screwdriver. gently press any of the four locking tabs inward until the Decora insert cover can be removed. Separate the rubber button insert from the button panel and insert it into the new color button panel. Insert the new button panel with the rubber pad onto the IPK-1 until the four locking tabs snap into place. Russound IPK 1 Single Gang IP Keypad - Fig

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the IPK-1 should ever become unresponsive, a reboot command can be sent to it by pressing and holding the two bottom-most buttons, Volume Down and Power simultaneously for 5 seconds until the status LED turns solid yellow. The IPK-1 will reboot and should begin working normally again. The IPK-1 can also be rebooted by cycling the PoE power. Many network switches allow this to be done remotely via the switch configuration webpage or control app.
Relocating an IPK-1 to a different room or zone is simple. Using WebConfig on your Russound audio device, re-activate pairing mode and simply re-pair the IPK-1 with its new zone. After the 60-second pairing mode period ends, any unconfigured IPK-1 status LEDs will blink yellow twice per second to indicate they are not paired.

Factory Reset

If you wish to restore an I PK-1 to its factory default state, press, and hold the recessed factory reset switch located behind the faceplate on the left side for 10 seconds until the status LED flashes red 4 times. The factory reset of the switch is only accessible with the IPK-1 removed from the wall. The IPK-1 must be powered by the PoE CAT5 cable in order to be reset.
