INSTALLATION TIPS
- The “M” logo orientation should be on the right when looking at the shield from below.
- Torque specs on tamper-proof screws are 37-72 inch lbs.
- Highly recommend replacing exhaust hangers to reduce noise and vibration.
STEP 1
Remove the under panel. Remove the three (3) nuts holding the under panel by
using a 10mm socket and driver. Refer to image A.
STEP 2
Mark holes for drilling. Temporarily place the Cat Shield onto the vehicle
using the three (3) studs as a guide and hand tighten the shield with 3 new M6
flange nuts (provided) onto the studs. Locate the 3 holes along each side of
the Cat Shield and make a mark inside all 6 holes. Optional: use a center
punch tool at each of these markings for easier drilling. Refer to image B for
locations.
STEP 3
Drill 6 holes for the rivet nut. Remove the front 3 nuts used to hold the Cat
Shield. Using the drill bit (with no pilot bit), drill the marked locations to
make 6 holes in the vehicle frame.
STEP 4
Install rivet nuts. Using a rivet nut tool, install the six (6) rivet nuts to
the recently drilled holes. Please watch an instructional video if you have
never used a rivet nut tool before.
STEP 5
Install Cat Shield. Place the Cat Shield onto the three (3) front studs.
Tighten the Cat Shield to the three front studs using the three M6 flange nuts
provided.
STEP 6
Install tamper-proof screws. Using the six (6) provided tamper-proof
screws and hardware, fasten the rest of the shield to the vehicle. For each
screw, install the fender washer, lock washer, and tamper-proof screw in the
order shown below. Use the provided tamper-proof bit to tighten the tamper-
proof screws. Refer to image C.
STEP 7
Tighten all nuts and screws. Check each nut and screw to ensure the
shield is completely secured to the vehicle.
STEP 8
Apply Cat Shield sticker (optional). Place the sticker on the vehicle to
warn thieves that the vehicle is protected by Cat Shield! Recommended
placement: Rear lift gate window.
