Product Usage Instructions
- Choose the appropriate filter type based on your specific requirements. The available options are A, AX, B, E, K, CO, HgP3, NOP3, and P.
- Determine the required class of the filter. It can be either class 1, class 2, or class 3.
- Identify the distinctive color associated with the selected filter type:
- A and AX filters have a brown color.
- B filters are gray.
- E filters are yellow.
- K filters are green.
- CO filters are black.
- HgP3 filters have a red-white color.
- NOP3 filters have a blue-white color.
- P filters are white.

INFORMATION NOTICE FOR RESPIRATORY PROTECTION FILTERS
GENERAL
Gas and /or particle filters respirators consist of a facepiece (half mask or
full-face mask), or of a powered filtering device with mask/helmet/hood,
fitted with one or two filters, that retain airborne gas, vapors, dusts,
fumes, mists.
The limits of use come from the filter, the facepiece as well as the
environmental conditions. The following information have a general character
and shall be completed with the national regulations and with the information
notice of the equipment the filter is used with.
The Warranty and the producer liability become void in case of misuse or use
not conforming to the instructions in this notice. The filtering devices are
Category III PPE as defined in Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 shall be
used only by specially trained people well aware of the limits for use imposed
by law.
GAS, PARTICLE AND COMBINED FILTERS
Filters are identified by a distinctive colour and letter(s), depending on the
protection given as stated in the relevant standard: they conform to EN
14387:2004+A1:2008 (gas and combined), EN 143:2000/A1:2006 (particle), EN
12941:1998+A2:2008 and EN 12942:1998+A2:2008 (particle and combined for
powered filtering device) and DIN 58620:2007 (CO filters).
Gas filters: offer protection against harmful gases and vapours
Particle filters: offer protection against harmful particles
Combined filters: offer protection against harmful gases, particles and
aerosols.
Filters are marked, according to their scope, through letters and colours
indicating their type and through numbers indicating their class.

The minimum performances offered by filters are those listed in table 1 and 2.
Filters are produced in different combination of types and classes to allow choosing the best one for any specific use.
SPASCIANI models are listed in table 3.
GUIDE TO THE SELECTION OF FILTER RESPIRATORS
The table “Assigned Protection Factor” lists the values of the Nominal Protection Factors (NPF) and of the Assigned
Protection Factor (APF) gives from some european countries to different respiratory protection equipment.
The APF is the level of respiratory protection that can realistically be expected to be achived by correctly fitted respirator. This value multiplied by the TLV of the substance gives an idea of the concentration of pollutants to which an operator can be exposed with a specific RPD. For the selection and maintenance, for definitions and use of APF also refer to European standard EN 529:2005.
In the use of gas filters do not exceed 0,1% in vol. for class 1, 0,5% for class 2 and 1% for class 3 (EN 14387). In the use of gas filters with turbo respirators do not exceed 0.05% for class 1, 0.1 % for class 2, according to EN 12941 and EN 12942 (the limit concentration shall be the lowest between the TLV multiplied by the APF and the concentration in volume).
INSTRUCTIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF USE

Filters kept sealed and at the temperature and humidity conditions indicated on the label and on the packaging will last till the date stamped on each of them.

Chose the right filter for the intended use paying attention to the colour and the identification marking

Filters shall be discarded after six months from the first opening. Always mark the opening date on their housing.

Filter respirators shall not be used:
- If the nature or the concentration of the gas are not known
- In oxygen-enriched atmospheres.
-
Filters can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
-
Filter respirators shall only be used if the surrounding atmosphere contains at least 17% in volume of oxygen.
This is unlikely to happen in confined spaces (tanks, wells, containers, etc) (these limits follow national regulations). -
One cannot tell beforehand how long a gas filter will last in actual use. Replace the filter at the latest when you start to smell the gas odor. This however is not the case with odorless and tasteless gases such as Carbon Monoxide.
For such gases special precautions must be taken. WARNING: Persons whose olfactory sense is altered shall not use filter respirators. -
If the filter is to be reused, store it in a clean place with correct environmental conditions, closing it with the caps, if provided, or placing them in a bag.

The exhaustion of particle filters is told by the progressive increasing of the breathing resistance.

Filters weighing more than 300 g shall not be directly connected to half masks.
-
Filters weighing more than 500 g shall not be directly connected to full face masks.•
Filters HgP3 shall be used for maximum 50 hours, and at the end of such period they shall be disposed of. -
Filter AX shall be used only once.

Filters NOP3 shall be used only once (max concentration 0.25% vol.)

Filters for CO must be used only once and for a maximum of 20 minutes and shall be kept sealed in its plastic bag and removed only before use.

The use of prefilters in very dusty environments increases the particle filter life but may cause an increase of the respiratory resistance and therefore we suggest replacing them very often.

Filters stored in their original packaging, do not require any particular care for their transportation.

Filters shall be dismantled according to national regulations and considering the substances they have
-
retained. P, A and AX filters are normal waste if not used but become special if used to filter hazardous substances.
All other gas and combined filters are always special waste (even if not used). -
The use of gas or combined respiratory protective devices during works with open flames or liquid metal droplets may cause serious risk to the operator.

If the filters can be used with powered filtering respirators, they will also have the markings required by EN 12941 /EN 12942 (protection class with powered filtering unit).
USE
- Treat the filters with care: do not drop, avoid shocks, do not pierce with sharp objects. If the filter falls or shows signs of damage, spillage of coal or other problems, discard it and do not use it.
- Remove the film and caps, if any, only just before use.
- Check the filter is suitable for the intended use, verifying the type and class shown on the label.
- Connect the filter tight to the device; in the case of filters with EN 148-1 thread, tightly screw the filter to the respective connector on the respirator and in the case of filters with special connector, attach the filter to the respective lateral connections on the respirator.
- Twin filters with special connection (cartridges) must always be of the same type and, once saturated, they must be replaced simultaneously.
- Don the respirator and then check the face seal (inhale deeply covering the filter with the palm of the hand, the mask must fit perfectly to the face without loss; for further information on the leak test refer to the instructions for the use of the related facepiece).
MARKING
The following information are quoted on the filter label (for the explanation
of the symbols and pictograms used see Table 4):
- Manufacturer name, Model, Type, class and P/N of the filter, Reference standards, Production batch number, Pictogram with expiry date, Pictogram indicating correct storage condition, Pictogram indicating if the filter is to be used only in pairs (if applicable), Pictogram “See the instructions for use.”
- EC marking: conformity mark which indicates compliance with the essential requirements listed in Annex II of Regulation 2016/425/EU. The number 0426 identifies the notified body Italcert S.r.l., Viale Sarca 336, 20126 Milan – Italy – that carries out the manufacturing control according to Module D and involved in the product certification in accordance with Module B of Regulation 2016/425/EU.

Notes to Tab. 3:
- Filters 2030/2040 are to be used in pairs; after exhaustion, replace both cartridges at the same time. Use the same kind of filter in both filter holders.
- Filters 100 LD P3 R can be used in combination with pre-filters (P/N 109180000) held in position by means of pre-filter rings (P/N 109170000).
- Filter cartridges type 2030/2040 can be used in combination with prefilters (PN 109190000) held in position by special pre-filter rings (P/N 109160000).
Filters 203 UP3, 203 AXP3 R shall only be used with a full face mask (Weight over 300 g).
With Spasciani TURBINE TM according to EN 12942 and TURBINE TH according to EN 12941.
Full face mask TR2002 CL2 / TR2002 CL3 with DUPLA adapter (P/N 157900000).
Filter type 203 UP3 can be used only once in case of CO or NO filtration (NR).
Filter type 203 UP3 can be used for more than a single shift (R) when used for
gases of the ABEKHg families or for dusts, fumes and mists.
Filter type 203 UP3 when removed from its original packaging and/or used
cannot be used for CO filtration.
