KOAMTAC KDC470 KDC SmartSled 0.5W UHF Reader

Product Information

The product is a KDC SmartSled 0.5W UHF Reader that comes with acharging cradle. There are two different models available – KDC480 and KDC485, both of which are compatible with the KDCSLED-HF/UHF0.5W and require assembly. The SmartSled is sold separately and comes with an assembly manual. Tweezers and a PH0 screwdriver (not included) are necessary to complete the assembly.

Assembly Instructions

1. Using tweezers, carefully remove all four (4) screw caps from the back of the SmartSled.
2. Remove all four (4) screws from back of SmartSled.
3. Remove the back cover of the SmartSled.
4. Remove blue protective film from the KDCSLED-HF/UHF0.5W.
5. Align screw holes of SmartSled with the screw holes of the KDCSLED-HF/UHF0.5W.
6. Use the four (4) included screws to tighten KDCSLED-HF/UHF0.5W to the SmartSled as shown in the assembly manual.

Enabling/Disabling NFC Power

The NFC power can be enabled or disabled as needed.

• To enable NFC power, follow the instructions in the product manual.
• To disable NFC power, follow the instructions in the product manual.

Toggling Read Modes

There are two read modes available for the SCAN button and they can be toggled by pressing the UP button for 3 seconds.

Changing Tag Read Mode

The tag read mode can be changed by scanning one of the following barcodes or by pressing the Down key of the KDC SmartSled for 3 seconds in RFID mode. The modes are:

• Active (default) read – simultaneous reading of multiple tags while pressing the scan button (max. 10 minutes).
• Single read – only one tag is read every time the scan button is pressed.
• Multiple read – multiple tags are read simultaneously for the set time (default 10 seconds).

The time setting for Multiple Read Mode can be changed in Settings -> Reading Timeout. Short beeps will occur when changing modes with Down key.

Product Usage Instructions

• Assemble the KDC SmartSled 0.5W UHF Reader following the instructions in the assembly manual.
• Enable or disable NFC power as needed.
• Toggle between Active Read Mode, Single Read Mode, and Multiple Read Mode by pressing the UP button for 3 seconds. Change the tag read mode by scanning one of the barcodes or pressing the Down key of the KDC SmartSled for 3 seconds in RFID mode.
• Use the SCAN button to read tags according to the selected mode.

3. Remove the back cover of the SmartSled. (C)
4. Remove blue protective film from the KDCSLED-HF/ UHF0.5W. (D)
5. Align screw holes of SmartSled with the screw holes of the KDCSLED-HF/UHF0.5W. (E)
6. Use the four (4) included screws to tighten KDCSLED-HF/ UHF0.5W to the SmartSled as shown below. (F)

Single Read Mode
Only one tag is read every time the scan button is pressed.
1 short beep occur when changing mode with Down key.

Toggling Read Modes
There are two read modes in which the SCAN button works and they are toggled by pressing UP button for 3 seconds.

• Barcode Mode: When entered into this mode, 1 long and 1 short beep will be heard. Barcodes can be read with the SCAN button.
• Tag Reading Mode: When entered into this mode, 1 long and 2 short beeps will be heard. UHF tags can be read with the SCAN button.

Multiple Read Mode
When the Scan button is pressed, multiple tags are read simultaneously for the set time (default 10 seconds).

• Time setting can be changed in Settings ->Reading Timeout.
• 2 short beeps will occur when changing mode with Down key.

Changing Tag Read Mode
The tag read mode is changed by scanning one of the following barcode or by pressing the Down key of the KDC SmartSled for 3 seconds in RFID mode.
The order is changed to in the following order: Active (default) read -> Single read -> Multiple read

Active Read Mode
Basic operation status. Simultaneous reading of multiple tags while pressing the scan button (max. 10 minutes).

• 3 short beeps will occur when changing mode with Down key.
