Product Information

The Tapo P300 Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip is a device that allows you to control your devices from your smartphone. It has three smart outlets, each of which can be controlled independently, and three USB ports (QC3.0, PD 18W, QC 3.0) for charging your devices. The power strip is 188mm long, and it can be mounted on a wall or placed on a horizontal surface such as a shelf or desktop. It is a HomeKit-enabled device that can be added to the Home app for easy control from your iPhone or iPad.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Download the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code provided.
  2. Log in to the app with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have an account, create one first.
  3. Tap the button in the Tapo app, choose Plugs, and select your model. Follow the instructions in the app to complete the setup.
  4. If you want to add the power strip to the Home app, make sure your iPhone is connected to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Open the Home app, scan the HomeKit QR code on the bottom of the powerstrip, and it will be added to Home automatically.
  5. If you have trouble adding the power strip to Home, press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds to factory reset the power strip, restart your phone, and try again.
  6. Plug in your devices to the power strip and control them independently using the Tapo app or the Home app.

Introduction

This guide applies to the EU & FR version of Tapo P300. With independent control of 3 smart outlets and always-on USB ports to charge 3 others, the Tapo P300 Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip is ideal for family rooms, home offices, and small businesses. Control 3 smart outlets from anywhere with the Tapo app.

  • 3 Smart Outlets – Individually control up to three connected appliances at once. • Fast Charging USB Ports* – Equipped with 1 USB-C port (PD), and 2 USB-A ports (QC 3.0) delivering up to 18 W of power. The total max output when two or more ports are connected is 5V 3A.

Appearance

Tapo P300 Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip has one power button, three outlets, three USB ports, and three system LEDs. See the explanations below.

  1. System LED

    • Blinking white and orange:
      Ready for setup; resetting

    • Blinking white:
      Connecting to Wi-Fi

    • Solid white:
      Connected to the server and working properly

    • Solid orange:
      Connected to Wi-Fi, but not to the server

    • Blinking orange:
      Disconnected from Wi-Fi

  2. Power Button

    • Press once:
      Turn on or off the smart power strip.

    • Press and hold for 5 seconds:
      Reset Wi-Fi settings while keeping other existing settings.

    • Press and hold for 10 seconds:
      Restore the whole power strip to factory default settings.

  3. Smart outlet (1-3 from left to right)

    • Plug in your device and control it from your smartphone. Each outlet is independent.
  4. LED of Smart Outlet (1-3 from left to right)

    • Lit up when the corresponding smart outlet is on.
  5. USB Port (QC3.0, PD 18W, QC 3.0)

    • Charge your devices.
    • USB Single Port: 5V 3A / 9V 2A / 12V 1.5A
    • USB Multiple Ports: 5V 3A (Total)

Position Your Power Strip
Put your power strip within the Wi-Fi range of your home Wi-Fi network and control the plugged-in devices individually and easily with the Tapo app. Generally, the power strip is placed on a horizontal surface, such as a shelf or desktop. The device also can be mounted on the wall as shown below.

Set Up Your Smart Power Strip
Follow the steps below to set up your smart power strip via the Tapo app.

  • Step 1. Download
    Tapo App Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code below.

  • Step 2. Log In
    Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have an account, create one first.

  • Step 3. Add Your Device
    Tap the + button in the Tapo app, choose Plugs, and select your model. Follow the instructions in the Tapo app to complete the setup.tp-link-Tapo-P300

Add Smart Power Strip to Home
This is a HomeKit-enabled device. You can also add it to the Home app for easy control from your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps below to add your smart power strip via the Home app.
Before you start:

  1. You iphone should be connected to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. HomeKit will be disabled after 10 minutes since the power strip is powered on. You can unplug the power strip and plug it back to restart your power strip, and then try again.

Add to Home

  1. Open the Home app. Or if you have added the power strip to Tapo, you can also tap Add to Home in the Device Settings page.
  2. Scan the HomeKit QR code on the bottom of the power strip. It will be added to Home automatically.

Failed to add to Home?

  1. Press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds to factory reset the power strip, and restart your phone. Then try again.tp-link-Tapo-P300-Smart-WiFi-Power-Strip-FIG-5

Set Up Using Amazon Frustration-Free Setup
What is Amazon Frustration-Free Setup?
Amazon Frustration-Free Setup can help connect and set up Tapo smart devices in fewer steps, without having to remember and re-enter your Wi-Fi password on each device.
To use this feature, confirm the following:

  • The new Tapo device supports Amazon FFS (short for Amazon Frustration-Free Setup).
  • You have an Amazon FFS-enabled Alexa device or router.
  • You have saved your Wi-Fi information to Amazon by using Alexa echo.
  • Your Tapo device and router are on the same network as your Alexa echo.

LED Indications during Amazon Frustration-Free Setup

If the LED does not turn solid white after a long time, you can try to add the Tapo device manually. (Open the Tapo app, tap the + button on the page, select your device model, and follow the app instructions to complete setup. )

How to use Amazon Frustration-Free Setup with Tapo devices

  1. Enter Tapo in the search bar and choose Tapo.

  3. Tap the ENABLE TO USE button.
  4. Log in with your TP-Link ID that has bound to your Tapo device, and tap Authorize. After authorized successfully, the message Tapo has been successfully linked will come up.tp-link-Tapo-P300-Smart-WiFi-Power-Strip-FIG-7
  5. Plug in your Tapo device and the setup will complete automatically in two minutes. For setting up more Tapo devices, just plug in and enjoy!

Done!
If this device displays on the Home page in the Tapo app, it indicates this device has been successfully associated with your Amazon account and joined your Wi-Fi network automatically. If this device does not display on the Home page in the Tapo app, try setting it up manually. (Tap the + button on the page, select your device model, and then follow the app instructions to complete setup.)

Basic Device Control

After successfully set up your smart power strip, you will see the home page of the Tapo app. Here you can view the status of all devices that you’ve added and manage them. You can tap on the device to control and manage.

  1. Home Page
    You can turn on/off each outlet of your power strip any time anywhere and tap the outlet card to enter the status page.

  2. Device Status Page
    You can turn on/off each outlet of your power strip with one tap, customize Schedule, enable Away Mode, set a timer, and more.

  3. Device Settings Page

Configure Your Smart Power Strip
You can configure your smart power strip by setting Schedule, Away Mode, Timer, and more.

  1. Set Schedule
    Tap to set schedules for each outlet of your power strip to automatically turn on/off to simplify your daily routine.

  2. Set Away Mode
    Tap to preset the Away Mode, set the start and end time, then the specific outlet of your power strip will be randomly turned on/off during this period.

  3. Set Timer
    Tap to set the timer, then the specific outlet of your power strip will automatically turn on/off after the timer ends.tp-link-Tapo-P300-Smart-WiFi-

  4. Check Runtime
    Slide up to check Runtime today or past 30 days for each outlet of your power strip .

Smart Actions
Smart Actions automate repetitive tasks, allowing you to blaze through tedium with utmost ease. Set everything up once and never have to worry about it again. With Smart Actions, giving your home that level of intelligence is a snap. Shortcut lets you perform an action with a simple tap. Automation allows you to automate tasks to be performed at a set time. e.g. The lamp plugged into your smart power strip will light on at 7 PM.

Option 1: Edit based on the routine actions

  1. Go to the Smart Actions page and you will see the Routine Actions (Shortcut or Automation).
  2. Tap on a routine action. Tap EDIT to change the settings as needed and tap APPLY to save changes.

Option 2: Create your own shortcuts

  1. Go to Shortcuts page. Tap + on the top right to add a simple and smart action.
  2. Add an action and choose whether to delay the action.

Option 3: Create your own actions

  1. Go to the Automation page. Tap + on the top right to add a simple and smart action.
  2. Name the new action. Tap + to add conditions (When) like the trigger time and tap + to add tasks (Then) like turning on the switch.

Share Your Smart Power Strip
You can invite your family members to manage your Tapo devices together by entering the TP-Link ID (email) you want to share the devices with.

  • Method 1
    On the home page, long press the an outlet card and tap Share. The three outlets will be shared altogether.

  • Method 2
    Go to Device Status page, slide up and tap Device Sharing.

  • Method 3

Third-Party Services
Control your smart devices through third-party services, including voice control. Free up your hands with simple voice commands to control your
devices via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

  • Go to the Me page and tap Third-Party Services.

  • Select Add to Siri. Follow the app instructions to create a new, custom shortcut using the Shortcuts app for iPhone or iPad, and use Siri to control your devices.

Safety Information

  • Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity or hot environments.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
  • Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.
  • The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
  • The devices are not intended for use in locations where the temperature may be less than 0 degrees Celsius, such as unheated warehouses or garages.
  • Do not cover the power strip while in use.
  • Risk of electric shock. Do not plug into another power strip or an extension cord.
  • An appliance is completely powered off only when unplugged from the power strip.
  • Timer & Schedule could turn-on unexpectedly without the user being present.
  • To Reduce the Hazardous Condition – Unplug the appliance from the socket-outlet before servicing.
