CARE & MAINTENANCE
- SAFE USE: The screen will become extremely hot while in use. Always use the poker/lifter tool or heat-resistant gloves when handling the screen; if using gloves, ensure they are designed for handling hot metal.
- EXPOSURE & MAINTENANCE: Long-term exposure to high-intensity heat can cause the mesh screen to warp and the high-temperature paint to flake or burn off from the steel. If the paint burns off and the steel is exposed to moisture, it will rust. As with any outdoor steel product, periodic maintenance is required to maintain integrity and appearance. Remove rust and refinish with a paint that is suitable for high-temperature surfaces; follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions and ensure the paint is completely dry before using the screen again.
- CLEANING: All fire pits must be cleaned and inspected periodically. Cleaning out ashes between each use is recommended. Do not allow ash to accumulate in the bottom of the pit. Before cleaning, make sure the metal is completely cool. Never drop your fire pit, as any breakage could cause permanent damage.
- AVOID ACCELERANTS: Never use accelerants to start a fire; this is dangerous and can damage your fire pit.
- AVOID PLASTIC: Never use any plastic materials in or nearby a fire pit. Plastic residue is very difficult to remove. Additionally, the emissions from burning plastic are toxic.
- USE ON A SAFE SURFACE: Always use fire pits on a smooth, non-combustible surface; do not use them on a wood deck or other combustible surfaces like dry grass, leaves, mulch, etc. Also, do not use fire pits near combustible structures like vinyl or wood siding.
- COVER AND STORE: Ensure the fire pit is completely cool before covering. Ashes can remain hot long after a fire dies down. We highly recommend cleaning the fire pit before covering it. Do not allow the fire pit to be exposed to water. The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from use and/or environmental conditions. Store in a dry location; this will protect it from the effects of weather elements.
- EXTINGUISH: Let fires die down gradually, do not use water to put out a fire as this may cause the metal to crack from the sudden drop in temperature.
