OPERATION| CLEANING AND CARE

Dear Customer, Thank you for purchasing a Grundig product. We hope that you get the best results from your product which has been manufactured with high quality and state-of-theart technology. Therefore, please read this entire user manual and all other accompanying documents carefully before using the product and keep it as a reference for future use. If you hand over the product to someone else, give the user manual as well. Follow all warnings and information in the user manual.

Important safety and environmental instructions

Please read these instructions carefully before using the device! Please follow all the safety instructions! Damage may be caused by using the device incorrectly. Please keep these instructions for future reference. In the event that the device is passed on to a third party, these instructions must also be passed on to the new owner or user.

1.1 General safety

  • Keep the instruction manual for future use. Should a third party be given the appliance, please ensure the instruction manual is included.
  • The appliance is designed for domestic use only.
  • Never use the appliance in the bathtub, shower or over a wash basin filled with water; nor should it be operated with wet hands.
  • WARNING Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.
  • If the appliance is used in the bathroom, it is essential that the power plug is pulled out after use, as any water close to the appliance can still pose a hazard, even if the appliance is switched off.
  • For additional protection, It is recommended you to install a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA in the electrical circuit. Ask your installer for advice.
  • Never cover the appliance, for example with a towel.
  • The appliance can become very hot. Never leave your hair in contact with the bristles for more than a few seconds.
  • The housing of the appliance may get hot when used for long periods. In this case, do not touch your hands and allow it to cool.
  • Do not allow the hot bristles to come into contact with your face, neck or head.
  • Unplug the appliance after use. Do not disconnect the plug by pulling on the cord. Place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface and allow it to cool.
  • Never use the appliance if it or the power cord is visibly damaged.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service center or a similarly qualified person to avoid any danger of electrical shock.
  • Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • Never open the appliance under any circumstance. No warranty claims are accepted for damage caused by improper handling.
  • Check if the mains voltage on the type plate (on the handle of the appliance) corresponds to your local mains supply. The only way to disconnect the appliance from the mains is to unplug it.
  • Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.
  • Never use the appliance in or near to combustible, flammable places and materials and furniture. Do not let the appliance come into contact with or become covered by flammable materials e.g. curtains, textiles, walls, etc. Please make sure that the appliance is always kept a safe distance away from flammable materials and furniture.
  • Do not put paper, cardboard, or plastic under the appliance.
  • Make sure that you unplug the product before cleaning and maintenance.
  • When the appliance is used in a bathroom, un- plug it after use since the proximity of water presents a hazard even when the appliance is switched off.
  • Burn hazard. Keep appliances out of reach from young children, particularly during use and cool down.
  • When the appliance is connected to the power supply, never leave it unattended.
  • Always place the appliance with the stand, if any, on a heat-resistant, stable flat surface.

1.2 Compliance with the WEEE Directive and Disposing of the Waste Product:
**** This product complies with EU WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU). This product bears a classification symbol for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
This symbol indicates that this product shall not be disposed of with other household wastes at the end of its service life. Used devices must be returned to official collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic devices. To find these collection systems please contact to your local authorities or the retailer where the product was purchased. Each household performs an important role in recovering and recycling of old appliances. Appropriate disposal of used appliances helps prevent potentially negative consequences for the environment and human health.

1.4 Package information

The values which are declared in the markings affixed on your appliance or other printed documents supplied with it represent the values that were obtained in the laboratories pursuant to the pertinent standards. These values may vary according to the usage of the appliance and ambient conditions.

Operation

3.1 Straightening hair

**| CAUTION! The housing of the appliance becomes very hot. Do not touch the housing near the heating element.

| CAUTION! Place the appliance on a solid, flat, heat-resistant surface. Do not place the appliance on any soft or uneven surfaces such as carpets, rugs or bedding, and never cover.
**| CAUTION!** Make sure your hair is completely dry.

  1. Plug the power cord (7) into the wall socket.

  2.  Switch the appliance on by pushing the On/Off switch (6). – The LED display (4) lights up in white.

  3. Set the temperature by pressing the ” ” button (5).
    – The LED display illuminates the temperature when it is ready.| When switch on the product, the temperature level will show 210 C, please be sure to adjust the proper temperature level before use.

  4. Comb or brush out a section of your hair about 3 cm wide, starting at the neck.

  5. Guide the brush in a careful, smooth movement away from the head to the end of the section of hair. Avoid making kinks in it.
    CAUTION! Do not touch the heated elements as they are very hot.

  6. Hold the appliance in position until the hair is heated.
    – This takes a few seconds at the most.
    Repeat the procedure section by section.
    If you have thick hair, you might have to repeat this procedure on the same section several times.
    Keep the strand of hair taut so that no kinks form.

  7.  After use, switch the appliance off by pushing the On/Off switch (6). The LED display (4) turn off. Then unplug the power cord (7).

3.2 Hair structure
The device allows for individual temperature settings.
The following  individual settings are recommended to work best with the specific hair structures listed:

  • For fine, brittle, color-treated, blonde hair: 130 °C to 170 °C
  • For normal hair: 170 °C to 190 °C
  • For strong, resistant, thick hair: 190 °C to 210 °C

4.1 Cleaning and care

  1. Switch off the device and unplug (7) from the power supply.
  2. Before cleaning, allow the device to cool down completely. The device can become very hot; it may take up to 45 minutes to cool down.
  3. Clean the housing and the heated elements only using a soft damp cloth.

4.2 Storage

  • If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.
  • Make sure that it is unplugged, has completely cooled and is completely dry.
  • Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place.
  • Make sure that the appliance is kept out of the reach of children.
